This is the quitest summer I can recall. None of the big clubs are really doing anything right now and the window is nearly over. I suppose Liverpool and Arsenal did all their work early so that's why they're quiet now. Ourselves and City have signed only 1 player each. Mourinho is already crying and bitching to the media about his clubs' business. Strangely, it's all of the smaller teams that are going crazy in the market while the big boys are waiting and waiting.

Juve fans seem to rate him much higher than Rugani.
-
All I'm saying is that they're both inconsistent. But one is nearly 30 and has played in the PL for about 5 years. Singing another inconsistent player who is a teenager doesn't sound like a great idea. Would I be devastated if we signed him? No. Do I think he's ideal? No.

Willian dominated Barca last season and could've had a hattrick...
-
Resigned to us not making anymore signings. At this point it's too late to get a keeper at a similar level to Tibo so I think the club will make him stay and run his contract down. Too late for Hazard to go, hopefully. Suicidal to sell him now. Doesn't appear we'll sign a Hamsik type and will go with Barkley & Cesc there. The only move at this point in time that seems possible is Willian to United. And that will come down to how desperate Mourinho gets. He sounded like he was in meltdown mode already last night. Hopefully he'll convince his board to swap Martial for Willian. If that doesn't happen I think we're done with transfers. If so, this season will be turbulent.

Honestly, at his current level I think he'd be a slight downgrade on Willian. Obviously his potential is great but he's very overrated right now.
-
Looks so gross! Penalty aside, I thought he was solid again today. Superb technical ability and is always willing and able to accept the ball under pressure. Something none of our other midfielders are comfortable doing. Watching him closely and he's constantly talking to those in front of him and telling them to press. He's a proper midfield general and organizer.
-
Plenty of positives through 2 matches but also several concerns. Biggest of which is the LB position. Neither Alonso nor Emerson have looked even a little bit good. Teams exploited our wide areas last season but now with us pressing much higher we're even more vulnerable. I trust Azpi on one side, but the left side could be a serious problem.
-
CHO is fantastic with the ball. Special talent. What's understandably missing right now is that final pass. He'll get better and better as he gets minutes.
-
Jorginho repeatedly getting frustrated at his teammates not pressing.
-
Baka is only comfortable at one specific thing and that's running with the ball when he's got loads of space. When he's asked to do anything with the ball in a decisive manner he's woeful.
-
Bakayoko.... Just get rid, ffs. 😂
-
Yeah, Alonso looks like a fish out of water in this system. The 3-4-3 was perfect for him but he looks lost here. Positives we notice already are how comfortable we look in possession and how we're pressing. We've been a bit too easy to play through for my liking but that will surely improve with Kante in the team.
-
Man, all they have to do is knock a cross field pass to Candreva over and over again and Alonso is nowhere near him.
-
We look good going forward but already in these two games we look insanely vulnerable down the flanks.
-
Good point. Hope this is just Sarri wanting to get a good look at him and see how he does rather than just coming in and assuming Alonso is a certain starter. Anyway, excited to see how Barkley does against significantly better opposition. Inter are missing a couple of their best players as well but this will certainly be a big step up in quality obviously.
-
Same starting XI as Perth. Wonder if he intends to actually stick with Alonso as our first choice in a back 4. Think he'll be fine there against lesser opposition but will be targeted against better teams.
-
Same. Seems as though every ICC match is televised here in the States except for the Chelsea game. 😒
-
Martial hopefully. Striker is his best position apparently.
-
I think Willian would be solid for United next season for sure. Not enough to take them to another level, though. And he ain't getting any younger. I'll put it this way, I would be much happier seeing them sign Willian than going out and buying Bale, Bailey, or some other star attacker. We know what Willian will bring them and it ain't huge production.
-
Probably because we can't find a club that will take him. Still only 24 as well. Feels like he's about 30 because he's been on our books since 2011.
-
Absolutely insane to see Piazon still on our books. Feels like he's been here since about 2005.
-
Yep. At this moment in time Rugani would just be a luxury/insurance player. All of Christensen/Rüdiger/Luiz will feel they should be starters. Having even more competition is overkill. Plus, Cahill is kind of the forgotten man. Wonder what happens with him.
-
I'm still just curious about where the hell he'd play in our team. Everyone assumed David Luiz was going to leave but he certainly doesn't look to be doing so now. So that means we already have 3 CB's who are comfortable on the ball. Already going to be difficult to see him on the bench now he's fully fit. Bringing in Rugani on top of that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. We saw against Perth that David looked at home in Sarri's system.
