Think Rüdiger & Christensen should remain our first choice CB pairing, I think Emerson needs to be our starting LB, and I think we have a pretty significant problem up top. All things we pretty much already knew. Alonso will certainly struggle and may even cost us points against anyone decent. Looks out of his depth and really struggling in this new formation. His one strength the past 2 seasons was his ability to get forward. Don't think I've really seen him do that once this preseason in 4 matches. So what use is he? Last thing we need with a new, inexperience keeper coming in is for him to be totally exposed from one side. Lastly, Barkley was good in the first two games but has sort of retreated into his shell a bit since. He'll be a good option to have in the squad but Kovacic or someone else of higher quality is needed there.

At least good to get Willian minutes. He'll likely be the only starter against Huddesfield of this lot. As for Bakayoko, you can tell he's still completely terrified of making a catastrophic mistake. Just like he was last season. Only plays the safest passes and sort of hides. That I could deal with because at least he's not hurting us. But then when he's defending his positioning was very poor that half. Midfield was open where he was supposed to be. Honestly, I wish we'd loan/sell Baka and DD and keep RLC as an option along with Barkley and Kovacic for that attacking midfield role.

Also don't think DD is a good fit for Sarriball. Too slow on the ball. Takes too long to decide what to do with it.

Oblak plays in a team that is paradise for a keeper. No chance would he want to leave. I'm sure we went sniffing around but were told no chance he'd want to move.

And I really hope Emerson performs well here to put some thought in Sarri's head about who will start Saturday.

Yeah, this is the only thing that would put a bit of a damper on the deal. If we can buy him next summer it'll be a massive coup. If not then we end up chasing a midfielder all next summer until deadline day.

I personally rate Butland, but imagine the letdown amongst our fans if we sign him instead of Kepa after all these reports.

These stats really just show me that Kepa played in by far the weakest team t of all these keepers.

Watching his highlights on YouTube and my word is he a fantastic footballer. Monster dribbler, superb close control and first touch, and carries the ball very well. You can also see that almost all of the footage is him playing with Real Madrid's second team which is why he wants out reportedly. He wants to play and be an important player rather than a squaddie. This would be a super signing that would allow us to dominate the middle third of the pitch against the vast majority of opponents.

If this happens I hope it's similar to the Higuain to Milan deal. Small initial loan fee with a bigger obligation to buy fee next summer. What a super midfield 3 we'd have.

Perfect for the advanced midfield spot. Decent goal return, assists a lot, fantastic on the ball. I'd like to think that even Morata would have enough chances to score created for him with this lad behind him and Hazard + Willian either side of him. Would be a massive last minute deal. Lyon have fought like crazy to keep him from what I've read so I'm not exactly sure this is a goer.
