Yeah, I think that'll be that in terms of attacking players. Sancho interest died in January and Havertz will likely stay put for another year or if he does move it'll be for something we won't touch like 100m. I think our attack and midfield are set. LB and mayyyybe a CB is all that's left.

Fair enough, but for me Pepe was different. He cost about 20+ million more I think and was essentially Arsenal's entire transfer budget. If we were spending £70-80m on Werner I'd be cautious. But when players are regularly going for absurd fees these days ~£50m is a great deal. This deal would basically be paid for via the Morata fee.

Two of the best attacking talents in Europe potentially sealed and delivered before the transfer window even opens. 😂😂😂 Before qualification for next season's CL is even assured. 😂😂😂
-
I highly doubt we'd see Lamps deploy him as a traditional #9. Worrying about his small stature is dumb, imo. I see him as more of a Mo Salah type. Basically a wide striker.
-
So much bullshit out there that I won't explode with excitement yet, but Werner is literally the perfect forward to gel with our squad. What a fantastic signing he'd be.
-
Ryan Fraser has Mourinho/Tottenham written all over him. Mediocre player but will run through walls for the manager. Just the sort of "warrior" Mou loves and just the kind of cheap ass deal Levy looks for. Completely below the level we should be after.
-
We need Real Madrid to start one of their tapping up campaigns that they seem to always succeed at with one of Salah or Mané. Then maybe one of them goes into "I've accomplished so much at Liverpool so I'm ready for a new challenge" mode like Hazard did. Them getting Werner would sting less if they lose one of their talisman.

Ziyech, Chilwell, Coutinho, and a new striker to compete with Tammy sounds like an awesome summer to me. That's a whole lotta extra chance creation and goal threat. People will bitch and moan about Chilwell and Coutinho but in my opinion it won't last long after we see them in our shirt.
-
Yeah, I'm really starting to feel like the virus will completely fuck up any grand transfer plans for everyone. Both incoming and outgoing. Clubs will be reluctant to sell big stars and also shell out mega money with so much uncertainty. I'm really glad we got Ziyech done already. But I'm not feeling confident at all that we'll be able to splash out on others that we need. Although tbf, our board have been pretty shrewd in getting great players on cheaper transfer fees in recent years (Ziyech, Cesc, Costa, Kante, etc) so maybe we'll have an advantage on some clubs.

I actually think it's dumb to restart the season after months off. The integrity of the season is lost. I was/am fully on the side of ending it and coming back in the fall. Players are going to be rusty for weeks and the quality of football will be shit during that time for the most part. Something people don't often talk about is how some teams being healthy while others aren't is an advantage. Take Spuds for example. They were going to be in serious trouble before this extended break. Harry Kane was set to miss the rest of the season, Son was likely going to miss weeks and weeks, other important players were injured as well. Now when we resume they just get all those players back. That's fucking dumb in my opinion. If there was never any break they'd have been screwed. Now they'll have a great chance to challenge us for 4th. Same with United. Pogba and Rashford, their two best players, were out with long term injuries. Now they get them back. Teams above them having relatively healthier squads was an advantage that's no longer there. I don't know a great solution in regards to CL places and relegation but this season is fucked imo.

I mean, the lockdown here in the States has proven massively effective in flattening the curve in many places. We just have so many dumbasses who think their "freedoms" are being infringed upon by being told to stay home. It could be much, much worse than it is here and we're at 90k deaths. Not saying we should stay completely locked down until a vaccine is available, but we 100% should be still social distancing for months longer and not meeting whores in hotel rooms. If for no other reason than optics.

You would think a dude who had the fucking virus would have the wherewithal to strictly follow the rules. Guess he was so desperate for some ass he just said forget it!
-
Sounds like our Sancho interest died in January once we signed Ziyech as some of us figured.
-
I forget, is Auba out of contract at Arse or just entering the final year? Because surely they wouldn't even consider selling to us and would rather see him leave for free than to give him to us regardless of fee. Would be a great signing for 2-3 seasons.
-
Yeah, I don't think we're going to touch our central midfield this next window and tbf we really don't need to. If Frank does feel the need to bring another body in id say it makes more sense to get a DM rather than another attack minded creative player. Like that lad from Lille perhaps? Kante, Jorginho, Kova, Billy, and RLC on the books. That's plenty of bodies. A destroyer type is the only thing missing since Kante is never deployed there anymore.
-
Pjanic for Jorginho doesn't make sense for us. He's a great player but we need guys who are in or entering their prime rather than coming down from it.
-
Ben Chilwell had been awesome for much of the season and people were talking of a world record fee for a fullback. He had a few poor matches before corona and now you guys are acting like he's dogshit. I'd still have him in a heartbeat.
-
Liverpool signing another great attacking player is like City or Barca or Madrid signing another top attacking player. I just say "ah, who cares." They're already basically unstoppable in attack so what's Werner going to add other than depth? Just like when City signed Mahrez. It just means that they have a quality player to rotate. He doesn't make their first XI any scarier. If he went to Arse/Spuds/United then I'd be bothered because they'd be getting considerably better.
-
I also recall saying a few months back that if we are looking for a midfielder who just sits and shields the defense Rice would be a good buy. But if I remember correctly he kind of went off the boil before this whole coronavirus stuff. I think we could probably do better.
-
Struggling to think where Coutinho could even go if not here. I think someone like Arse or United would bring him in on loan if they fail signing their main targets. Otherwise he rots back on Barca's bench because they've given up on him. I'm still on board with us signing him.
-
Mertens only would've made sense had we bought him to replace Giroud in January and COVID-19 never happened. He would've been a suitable stopgap. Bringing him in for next season doesn't make sense in my opinion. We need a long term signing.
-
It feels like we've been without football for 6 months. I've nearly forgotten where we even left off. Hard to really get excited about transfer rumors when everything is so up in the air.
-
Like many British players before him, Grealish would get nowhere near the hype or attention were he any other nationality. He's a good, solid player right now but nothing more. Plus, he's an annoying looking twat with a 1940's Nazi haircut and he wears his socks like a cunt. I'd be delighted if United but him for huge money instead of Maddison who is much better. I'd take Countinho over Grealish 10 times out of 10 if we are indeed interested. As has been mentioned, though, I haven't seen any of the usual English journalists linking us. Only Spanish press who have a vested interest in wanting Countinho out of Barca for huge money.
-
Honestly, I'd happily have Coutinho here. Just about to turn 28 so still has a whole lot left in the tank and knows the league already. I know a lot of our fans want to avoid him but as long as he doesn't cost as much as all the rumours suggest I'd take him gladly. He's the kind of ultra-technical player we need. Willian and Pedro are off, Ziyech + Coutinho would be pretty massive upgrades.
