Remember, even the very best fullbacks in world football look shaky at times against great attackers. That's just a fact of modern football. Robertson, TAA, Kyle Walker. All can be got at defensively. Look at that CL semi between Bayern and Barca. Some of the world's best fullbacks on display and both teams were wide fucking open in the wide defensive areas. So any opposition fans saying Chilwell is a joke defensively can pipe down. He's average defensively just like every class fullback.

Well shit. Frank and the club must reaaaally fancy him if we're buying him despite being injured for another month and cheaper alternatives available.
-
So basically if they win tomorrow and offer him a new deal during the euphoria and celebrations he'll stay.
-
Wonder who Frank would use as Silva's main partner if he is to sign. It'll hopefully be a partnership that is consistent unlike last season.
-
As I said a couple of days ago, we got another Havertz news dump and now it's gone silent again. 😩😩😩
-
Almost as if he's been told via his agent that Chelsea weren't coming in for him so he went ahead and extended his contract.
-
From most of what I've seen Silva plays as the right sided CB so thankfully we wouldn't have to see that.
-
Really don't think we can afford to take another big gamble at GK after Kepa. Mendy would be another big risk. We need as close to a sure thing as we can get.
-
Just watched a Thiago Silva 2020 YouTube video. It's actually kind of funny how good he is. Very Van Dijk-like in that he basically plays the game at jogging pace because his positioning and intelligence is so great. Rarely gets into poor situations where he has to panic and sprint around. Just looks effortless for him. If that's what we'd get from him then it's a great move.
-
A free transfer for 1 year would be ace for everyone involved. So long as he is protected by the midfield in front of him his deteriorating athleticism could be masked. We can go big on a world class CB next summer.
-
I finally blocked him a couple of days ago. I didn't even follow him but constantly would see his pointless tweets basically just repeating Chelsea related headlines that he read.

Declan Rice noise sort of died down. Wonder if all our other business is being held up while we sort out Havertz? Similar to United and Sancho where all of our other targets depend on how much cash is left over. Would be pretty ridiculous if we start the new season with no defensive reinforcements and Willy as our #1. And we only have 3 short weeks to sort it all out.

Tweets from dudes I've literally never seen before 😑😑😑
-
Run-in looks like it could potentially be brutal. Two clubs in Fulham and Villa who may be fighting for their lives and three other who may be fighting for the title/top 4. First few months don't look too bad, though.
-
So if the pattern holds, yesterday and today we've heard a bunch of updates, so now it'll go quiet for a week. Then we'll hear "Chelsea and Bayer are in talks for Havertz. Personal terms agreed but still working on a fee between clubs." Again and again and again until the end of time.
-
If it's not Declan Rice, watch the CB we bring in (if we even do so) be someone completely unexpected and just announced out of the blue.
-
Silva as a 1 year stopgap while Timo Werner taps up Upamecano for months and we trigger his release clause next summer. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Our good relationship with RB Leipzig should give us the leg up.
-
Isn't he like 40? For 1 season as a stopgap I'd have him I guess.
-
I haven't been this obsessed/engaged in a transfer target in ages. Maybe since we were after Neymar before he went to Barca. Probably because we as a club don't usually target players in the very top, mega expensive bracket like this. The Kepa panic buy apart we normally go to the £50-55m mark at the max. It's awesome to see us in the position to (hopefully) pull off a massive deal like this.
-
Falk's update last night suggested this was just about done. Now this latest brief from some English reporters makes it sound as though this will continue to drag on for a while. Bayer digging their heels in, Chelsea trying to lower their asking price. Basically nothing has changed...
-
So in reality, not as encouraging as last night suggested then. Being €20m apart is quite a large difference.

Isn't our new highest earner Werner who will be on just over 200k per week? Our club pay somewhat sensible wages (lol) compared to say United/Barca/Madrid etc. who pay some players 400/500/600k per week. Cant imagine them paying a young player who isn't a global mega-star nearly 400k per week and destroying our wage structure. Then you'd have all our young players demanding mega money when they're negotiating. Think about what Tammy will be trying to get for instance.
