From João Pedro’s POv it’s probably wiser that he goes to Newcastle where Callum Wilson is/has left and Isak has a spotty injury record over the years. He’d get more playing time as a starter there than here I would think. I’m trying to picture in my head where or how we’d play with him. Minutes as a lone #9 seem unlikely.

Monitoring this, considering that, appreciate such and such player. Just move for someone already.
-
It’s even clearer now that we 100% need 2 new attackers this window with Mudryk now confirmed to likely never play for Chelsea again, Sancho gone, and Nkunku surely to follow.
-
Why is this just now being confirmed like a year after we first heard about the issue? I wonder if there’s anything in a player’s contract that allows the club to get out of it…
-
Yeah, the upside is clear and you can see why Maresca would be interested. But again, he’s someone you’d take a chance on for cheap so that if he flops you can easily move him on. To pay huge money for Gittens is terrible business.
-
When we were first linked with João Pedro a few weeks ago I was against it because he’s not a natural striker nor is he is a natural winger. That was before we signed our actual #9 Delap. Now he’s much more interesting as a target because he could play WITH a Delap or Jackson at the same time. Though, if we’re interested in a hybrid type, “play anywhere across the attack” sort of player I’d personally take Kudus over João Pedro.
-
I just have zero excitement about Gittens at all. He doesn’t move me even a little bit. And that’s crazy to say for someone who is going to cost us £50m or something. If the club were going after him because his price was insanely low and they truly feel like he could blossom into a top player that would be one thing. Like if we were taking a punt for £20m for example. But for the money that’s being talked about you should be getting someone who is a sure thing.
-
For the silly price we’re going to end up paying for Gittens he needs to immediately slot into the team and be impactful. That’s not the money you pay for purely a depth signing who will be stuck behind Madueke or something.
-
Yep. Literally just throws a hundred things at the wall and nothing ever sticks. He’s a Twitter engagement merchant.
-
Probably not until after the tournament, right?
-
Was always a massive long shot. Means there aren’t really any top LW to be had now. There’s Leão apparently but I think he’s massively overrated. This is unfortunately a bad summer to really need someone in this position and why we’ll have to settle for Gittens/Garnacho/Fofana.

No injuries is the biggest positive. That, and Delap looking infinitely more dangerous with barely any training or chemistry with his teammates than Jackson did.
-
Delap looks nice already.
-
wtf happened to Malo Gusto this season? It’s like a different player than his first season. He is horrific defensively now and his awareness of what’s going on around him is shocking.
-
Diabolically bad second half. Almost everyone looks dead on their feet.
-
Awful. He’s not much better on the other side, though. He can get into dangerous situations but always seems to make the wrong or selfish decision. He is just not a Chelsea level player. Or really, a player who should be regularly starting for ANY top 4 club.
-
Feels like a training session. Still, Madueke looks shit and Jackson has had like 1 touch in 30+ minutes.
-
Madueke still infuriatingly shite in the final third I see.
-
FIFA will hopefully realize that this greedy shit they’re pulling is going to fail. Empty stadiums, massively lopsided score lines, players barely caring to put in effort. Embarrassing look for them. I just hope none of our players get injured playing in this farce of a tournament.
-
Best mates with Palmer, good mates with a bunch of our players, UCL football, much higher profile club. If we made an effort there’s no way he’d turn us down.
-
If we’re dead set on signing only young talents why not throw everything at Morgan Rogers? At least he’s PL proven and is right in line with our obsession with former City youth. And for me he’s actually got top tier potential unlike some of these other guys.
-
Gittens, Garnacho, and Malick Fofana. Not exactly confidence inspiring choices, imo. I honestly feel like we’re just going to replace Sancho whose production was really disappointing with another winger who will put up disappointing numbers. But also cost tens of millions more than Sancho would have.
-
Who the fuck is Malick Fofana?
-
It doesn’t need to change 180 degrees. They can still pursue the best young talent out there. But that can’t be the ONLY kind of player we buy or we’re never going to win anything. Because our rivals are busy buying players who are already top quality rather than what could become great 3+ years from now.
-
Thing is, we’ve hoarded a hundred “talent’s” already. This should be the summer where we supplement those young and developing players with experienced quality to help us push on and become a serial contender for the league and UCL again. Instead, it appears we’re just going to obsessively hoard more young players who may be years away from reaching their potential. If they ever even do.
