Chilly today, Silva tomorrow, Havertz Friday. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Seems Arse and Spuds are making clever, cheap, and yet ultra-boring moves in the market. Players that can improve them, yes, but won't take them up to the level of Liverpool/City/Chelsea/United. Think Arse will at least be pleasant on the eye. Spuds and Mou will be a chore to watch.

I'd have either one of their keepers tbh. Strange how we haven't been hearing anything about their keeper situation. Martinez said publicly that he wouldn't stay to sit on the bench.
-
The thing you normally have to worry about with these giant keepers is how quick they are laterally. How fast they can shuffle their feet across goal and how quickly the can sprint out to smother a ball on the ground. But to be honest, I'd take the trade off of being slightly weaker in those areas if we got a dude who can utterly dominate anything close to him in the air and who is a dominant shot stopper. Curious to hear what some of the French league experts have to say about him if these links are true. Haven't heard a thing about him before.

Makes sense. Probably want that lad from Leipzig in first to soften the blow of selling their posterboy.
-
I think the expectation is that we'll hear something about all of these targets by Friday, right? The Chilwell reports said something about "within 3 days he'll be a Chelsea player." Think that was Monday. Thiago Silva will apparently have his medical tomorrow. There was some kind of deadline in regards to Havertz on the 28th right? Which is Friday. Can't recall what that deadline was, Bayer resume training or off to German team duty. Hopefully not too much longer. If things advanced as far as was reported by Romano and Falk, it's a bit weird how paperwork is taking so long, though. Maybe the club really is planning a flashy triple announcement.

Can't say I've ever seen Mendy play nor Rennes, but they did finish 3rd in the league so I'm guessing they were a good side. Which would hopefully mean he's used to playing in a good setup and not coming from some tiny minnow and will be overwhelmed. He's also a fucking giant at 6'6. Would be nice having a Courtois sized keeper again.

City are basically irrelevent outside of England. Nobody cares about them. Chelsea is a globally supported club and MILES bigger than City. They'll get a shit load of bandwagon glory hunters who jump ship from supporting other clubs if they sign Messi, yes. But they'll be supporting Messi not City. Don't care how much shady money the oil state pumps in to artificially inflate their revenue and sponsorships.
-
Everton and Leeds making those sorts of signings, wow. Power of those Premier League £££'s. Also I was thinking, I wonder what City's next golden boy who they've been slobbering over for a while now Phil Foden would feel about Messi coming in. He was meant to slot into that #10 position with Silva leaving. If Messi comes in I doubt Pep would play him as a striker but rather just behind Aguero or Jesus. Foden back riding the bench and wasting away playing the odd game here and there.

Ehh, with our recruitment this summer and what I'm sure will continue next summer I'm not so sure we should be dismissing our chances in the CL so quickly. I mean, Bayern were a level above everyone else but the other 3 semi finalists were nothing special. We are miles better than Lyon or Leipzig and I'd fancy our new look team against bottlers PSG as well. You get to the last 4 and anything can happen. I wouldn't write us off challenging for the CL within the next 2 years if we get hot at the right time.
-
Still think there's a 95% chance Messi stays after he forces everyone he dislikes out and Barca stops being run into the ground by those clowns. He has to be fuming that his twighlight years are going to be wasted if things continue as they have been.
-
Rio being a cheeky troll there poking fun at us being linked with a hundred players I think. 😆 Hopefully nobody is gullible enough to believe we're in for Messi.
-
Maybe its his biggest powerplay yet to get Bartomeu to resign. He's been trying for years. As sensational as Messi is, might it be smart to rip the bandaid off now and start their rebuild post Messi? It was going to happen soon anyways. Rather than paying a 36-38 year old Messi in a few years £1m a week when he has declined, break from him now and build a new team.
-
What if it's all been a smokescreen with Sancho and Messi is the real target? That's why they've been stalling so long on Sancho. To wait and see if Messi becomes available. 🤔🤔🤔
-
City or PSG seem the most likely destinations if he does leave. Hopefully it's PSG so we don't have to deal with him. City would be annoying but they're already ridiculously good going forward. Funnily enough, he doesn't drastically improve them domestically (he will in the CL). The nightmare scenario for me is him going to United. Takes them way up quality wise. And the media coverage would be unbearable 24/7/365. PSG to play with his mate Neymar and Mbappe seems most likely. Di Maria is one of his best mates too. And Paris is a million times more suitable for a superstar celebrity like him than dreary Manchester.
-
Oh shit. Imagine adding Messi to that City side that was scoring for fun already... Christ. Rather he go there than United, though.
-
Isn't Messi on over a million a week? Combined with whatever transfer fee, how can even Man City afford him? I can't ever see him leaving Barca no matter how bad things look.
-
That's an interesting thought. Definitely has the physical tools to be a beast of a DM.
-
So weird. We're going to have 3 (maybe even 4 if Mbuyamba goes) very young CB's out on loan now? Ampadu, Tomori, Sarr, and Mbuyamba. Zouma, AC, and Rüdiger aren't old either and you'd expect them to all be here next summer if they perform well. For that reason it's hard to see why Sarr would agree to sign with us. Where is his path into the first team?
-
I don't think you can take the armband off of Azpi for a player just coming to the club. Although when everyone is fit, Azpi may not even be on the pitch more often than not so Silva could indeed wear the armband some days.
-
Nice. Will probably be our most important signing. If he can handle the language barrier and remain fit he is the 2nd best CB in the league after VVD even at age 36.
-
Thought for sure we'd see at least 1 announcement today but it doesn't look like it. Figured Thiago Silva would be confirmed today.
-
Just want to say that I absolutely hate international football outside of the World Cup. Playing these pointless international matches just before and within a few weeks of the PL restarting is ridiculous. Just asking for big players to get injured.
-
Yeah, unless Liverpool take a huge step back in their intensity or they get a very long term injury to one of Salah or Mané while at the same time all of our new signings settle instantly I can't see us making up 30 points basically overnight. Its going to take 90+ points to win the title again and going from 66 to nearly 100 points is simply very unrealistic. Getting within single digit points of the eventual champion would be a great season in the league.
-
Watching Sarr's videos and he looks seriously like a mirror of Koulibaly. Same playing style. Freakishly athletic, covers lots of ground, good passing range, loves a perfectly timed slide tackle. Looks a great prospect but I have zero clue where he fits here unless not only Tomori goes but also another CB.
