Honeslty don’t know what we’re waiting for. The season starts in almost exactly 1 month, right? It’s pretty much common knowledge now that they’ll sell for the right money. We know how beneficial it would be to have him in for a whole preseason. So what’s the hold up? Like @Jas has been saying, perhaps we have to sell a bunch of players to fund the move. But how could that be when we’ve just received mega payouts for winning the CL and finishing top 4? Surely we’re more flush with cash than ever before? Regardless, the longer this goes on the higher the likelihood some other big club wakes up and makes an offer. City, Real Madrid, someone… Feels like we have to move soon or miss out…

Sky Germany are notoriously unreliable, aren’t they?
-
He and Livramento were the two I see the most about, anyways. I haven’t watched any of them.
-
Won’t believe we’ve made an offer at all until someone reliable reports it. Ornstein or Law.
-
Wow. Maybe our most highly rated youngster, wasn’t he?
-
Think about what PSG’s wage bill must look like.
-
That’s not my point. What I mean is that they constantly buy the current flashy player for mega money, give them a mega contract, it doesn’t work, and they have to send them away or let them rot. Coutinho, Dembele, Griezmann etc. Or they bring in players that simply don’t fit their team at all like Pjanic, Vidal, Arda Turan etc. There’s a reason they’re in dire financial straits.

Barca is one of, if not the worst operators in the market in all of Europe.

I admire your confidence and agree with most of what you said. But Ole may not even need to “outsmart” these elite coaches. He’ll have such a quality side at his disposal that United are a lock for top 4. Leicester last season fell agonizingly short last season because they simply couldn’t deal with their lack of quality depth. They look to have solved that already with a few great signings. So yes, having TT in for a whole preseason and at the start of the PL season will be a huge boost, but we still don’t have a reliable, guaranteed goal scorer if we give it a go with the same team. And as we saw last season even with TT we struggled to score many goals even against shit teams.

Last summer was just a stream of good Chelsea news. Linked with loads of top players and eventually signed a bunch of them. It was transfer muppet paradise. This summer it’s the opposite. Nobody can afford our deadwood that we need to get rid of, our youngsters are stalling on new contracts, we are showing zero urgency to make needed signings, and worst of all we’re seeing our two closest rivals last season United and Leicester move quite aggressively to dramatically improve their sides. Can we get some positive Chelsea transfer news? 😂😂😂 I’d be livid if we hadn’t just won the CL. That basically soothes any anger for this summer.
-
Yep. Weird how the AC and Rüdi situations aren’t officially sorted yet. I’m sure both will get done (and could very well be already) but it’s strange how we let their contracts run down when we’re usually good at avoiding these situations.
-
We certainly don’t need a CB now, that’s true. But we keep hearing about Zouma going and both Silva and Azpi are old. We’ll probably need to replace both next summer anyways and we’ll be fully past COVID and clubs’ finances being in the gutter then. May as well get a young, long term CB this summer if an opportunity presents itself and prices are still relatively reasonable. Someone like Varane for the rumored 45-50m is a great deal. He’d cost nearly twice that in a normal summer and if he had a couple more years on his contract. I really rate Süle as well.
-
See all this talk about us wanting a CB, why aren’t we throwing our name in for Varane and letting United a free run at him?
-
First thing I noticed when watching his highlights from this past season. He looks kind of slow.
-
Gallagher is indeed very talented and tidy on the ball. But then so is Billy. Should definitely be given a chance in preseason to see if TT can make use of him.
-
Just regurgitating the same thing daily. These journalists may as well stop asking BVB employees about Haaland until a concrete bid goes in.
-
Like any English player who’s got some flair and skill to him, Grealish is massively overrated. He’s a solid player who supporters will love if he’s on your team but despise otherwise. But I don’t think he’s a top class or potentially world class player. Never in a million years is he worth 100m but you can certainly see him being effective for a big club. He alone will probably win City 10 pens next season.
-
True, but Kane seems like the last person who would sulk and moan. He seems to genuinely love that club. Plus, he’s the “face of England” and has that golden boy image where the whole of English media loves him. Would he completely tarnish that image by moaning and forcing his way out? Maybe, but I don’t see it. Think he’ll put his head down and get in with it.
-
I have a hard time seeing Levy selling. Who could Spuds possibly sign to replace not only Kane’s huge goal haul but also his playmaking? They’ll finish 10th if they sell him. And they really can’t afford slipping further away from European football with that new stadium and with how much the pandemic fucked them more than most clubs. Don’t think they can really afford to sell him even for £120m.
-
I’m more annoyed at the thought of him going to United next summer than City. Them getting Sancho and Haaland for reduced prices? Yuck. Haaland doesn’t substantially change things for City since they’re already incredible. Haaland dramatically improves United just like he would us.
-
Seems like every journalist is saying the same thing suddenly today. Which is basically the same thing we’ve known for weeks. That it’ll take an absolute bomb of an offer for BVB to sell, but that they would sell for the right price. It’ll essentially take Mbappe money. And I think he’s 100% worth Mbappe money. We will regret passing up the opportunity for the next 10 years if he ends up in Manchester next summer for half the price.
-
I still stick to my thought that Ziyech should stay. I refuse to believe that he’s shit. Given some consistent playing time I think he’ll be useful. No way a player who looked brilliant against some of the biggest teams in Europe (including us) is suddenly a donkey.
-
Remember all the weeks and weeks of trolling and banter from the Leverkusen admin last summer during the Havertz saga? Christ, I hope we’re not about to start that bs again with BVB and Haaland. Wish they’d just put us out of our misery now and state definitively, 100% that he’s going nowhere no matter what we may offer. Maybe even hear it from the man himself. A whole window of grasping at hope only to come up empty at the deadline will be awful. Plus, there’s still the possibility that most people haven’t really been thinking about which is the Man City situation. Everyone has kind of just assumed that they’ll try for Kane but what happens if they come in and offer BVB £150m before we do? Kane didn’t seem too eager to move when asked about Nuno coming in. And Levy will be a nightmare to negotiate with.
-
I personally was only okay with RJ moving to RCB if we brought in an exceptional wing back like Hakimi. He was an absolute game changing sort of player. If we do so now what happens to AC who we want to lock down to a new contract? He has become a much better player recently and is too good to be riding the bench.
-
Yep, certainly feels like the club are sorting out the outgoings and resolving those sorts of situations before we bring anyone in. We don’t know what’s going on with Emerson/Alonso situation. Which one stays and which one goes. There’s been zero credible rumors linking Tammy with a move because we’d probably demand 40-50m for him and no one will be silly enough to pay that. Will CHO stay or go? Ziyech? Zouma? Kepa? Tuchel really wanted Hakimi and we’ve been linked to Adama so he clearly sees a need for a super athletic RWB. So doesn’t that mean he doesn’t fancy CHO there? If that’s the case where does he play? Billy could’ve been a very uselful stand-in in case of a Jorginho injury and we’ve let him go. You would assume TT has a plan to fill that hole in the squad. And I hope it’s not RLC or Barkley who weren’t really even good enough for the sides they were on loan at. Hope we see some significant movement in terms of incomings soon. Even if it isn’t a striker first, just to give us an idea of what TT is thinking.
