Fair enough with some of the signings. But we’ve been after Koundé for literally a year. We’ve agreed personal terms with the player for a year. We even agreed a fee with Sevilla before they fucked us over. It’s ridiculous that this deal wasn’t done as soon as the window opened. We’ve seen that a lightning quick deal can be done with them because they sold their other top CB to Villa a couple of weeks ago.

I honestly can’t picture RLC going abroad. He seems like the kind of guy who is perfectly fine earning big wages for doing very little in his comfort zone in England.
-
Also on Skriniar, he has lots of traits that would suit us and English football well but also has some things that I’d worry about against certain opponents. He is a no-nonsense, no frills, old school central defender who seems to enjoy bullying and getting physical. That will come in handy against smaller teams or teams that try to knock us off our rhythm. But I’d be concerned about his lack of pace and lateral quickness against a City or a Liverpool. Even Arse who have lots of quick, intricate footballers in their attack. He has a strange looking running gate that makes him look as though he’s running through quicksand 🤣 I’d be all for us going after him if we signed up Rice or some other super DM who helps out the CB’s a lot. Could mask some of his deficiencies. But with only Jorginho and a rarely fit Kante I think he’s a risky signing.
-
Getting Skriniar is probably the best we can hope for if any player comes the other way. A CB that’s able to walk straight into the team and perform at a high level. Bastoni is more of a gamble. Bit sad that any and all talk of Gvardiol totally dried up. Koundé + Gvardiol would be great. I guess Koundé + Skriniar on either side of Thiago would be nice, too.

Like I mentioned, he looks like Azpi level on the ball. He’s not going to dribble past anyone with high level skill or burn anyone for pace. He’s just serviceable and nothing more. Inter supporters really seem to like him because he works his socks off for 90 minutes, but for me a modern fullback needs to have more to his game than that.
-
Really failing to understand all these links to Dumfries. For the prices that are being reported as well it seems ridiculous. We have the best RWB in the country and we’re interested in another right sided fullback for a reported €40m? One that’s Azpi levels of poor on the ball going forward? Reading what Inter supporters think of him he sounds like someone you’d want in your squad but maybe for like 20m, not huge money. He’s apparently a big time workhorse but is very technically limited which is the last thing we need.
-
Fully justified until the new ownership proves to us that they’re more than just talk. We’re currently still standing still on the starting grid whilst many of our competitors are halfway around the circuit.
-
Rüdiger alone would’ve cost that much if we were buying him now. AC would probably cost 40-50m. And we lost them for zilch at the same time.
-
Who then? I’d rather just go the City/Liverpool route of the last few years and play with a load of midfielders than take a chance on some random striker.
-
So are we even going to try or….? Not sure who else is out there to replace Lukaku in terms of actual strikers.
-
Arse are on the brink of signing some dude from Porto out of nowhere. Not a single link or rumor until he’s just about to sign. I’m hoping that’s what’s going on with us. That we’re just keeping things ultra quiet. But even if we were keeping the ship tight you’d expect the most reliable Chelsea insiders like Law and Ornstein to report things. We’ve heard nothing from either in regards to incomings.
-
It’s amateurish. Tuchel will have had lots of names and ideas in Marina’s/Cech/whoever handles these things’ hands for ages. Just like Conte had surely long since studied and identified the weak areas he needed to plug at Spuds and just like Gerard did at Villa. Tuchel will have told them we need “this, this, and this.” Clubs that we’ll be competing with will have made 3-4 signings each before we make even 1.
-
Why would Juve sell him, though? Doesn’t he have more than 1 year left in his contract?
-
It’s really hard for me to think this is all about us being unable to offload players. We have already done so! Two staring CB’s have gone. Alonso and Azpi are two extremely simple deals to wrap up as both want to go to Barca. And what’s annoying is that we’ve known all of the above for months. Since literally January we’ve known that all four of those players were seeking new challenges and wanted to go. So what have our club been doing in the months since behind the scenes? Look at Liverpool. They probably didn’t find out that Mané was going to ask out until right around the CL final. Before they even sell him, bang, they identify Nuñez as his replacement and sign him up early for huge money. Rüdiger and AC have had their heads and 1 foot out the door months ago. And yet no new CB’s have arrived yet.
-
City win the title while finishing 20 points ahead of us and work like maniacs early in the window signing player after player even though they already had a fantastic squad. Haaland and Alvarez with Kalvin Phillips and Cucarella soon to follow. Tottenham are close to finishing up their 2nd and 3rd signings. Meanwhile, you have ourselves and United who need the most work of any big clubs and neither have done anything. We’ve been working on Koundé for literally an entire years with nothing to show for it, ffs. And I don’t really think this has anything to do with the new owner. Wtf are Marina and the rest of the negotiators doing?! These aren’t hugely problematic £100m deals or ones for players with 3 years left on their contracts. Sevilla themselves have admitted that Koundé wants to go and that they will sell, Dembele is literally free, someone like Gnabry has 1 year left and has been agitating to leave, Koulibaly can reportedly go for a reasonable price. There are massive, gaping holes in our first XI and we’re moving with zero urgency whilst our direct rivals are. And after looking at the newly released fixtures for next season our start to the year looks extremely tricky. It’s imperative we have a settled and fully prepared team for match day 1 or we could get off the pace immediedtly.
-
Why are we signing two keepers who are the same age?
-
If we’re at the stage that the club is actively talking to Inter about sending him back there then surely a replacement is already agreed and ready to go. Whether or not that’s a traditional striker I guess we’ll find out soon.
-
Still don’t understand how Inter are going to play Lukaku, Lautaro, and Dybala together. But if we are trying to swap for anyone at Inter other than Lautaro it should only be for Skriniar or Bastoni. I’ve seen Dumfries linked but he’s shite and nowhere near Chelsea quality. De Vrij is pretty good but I think we can do much better elsewhere.
-
Christian Eriksen is almost literally the exact same player as Bruno Fernandes. They’re like mirrors of one another. That would be a typical stupid Man United signing. And makes no sense for Eriksen either because he would start every game like he would elsewhere.
-
All 3 of the other top 4 teams have now strengthened. Whereas we have taken a significant step back so far. Obviously we will sign players, but the club have known for months that CB’s are needed and yet we haven’t signed even a single one yet.
-
Bissouma for £25m and we didn’t even try? That’s an absolute steal and a brilliant signing for Spuds. As of this moment they look better than us. And they’re making us look like amateurs in the market. Getting their business done super quickly and with zero fuss or weeks of bidding. Perisić done, Bissouma and Spence just about done. Conte is quickly and methodically addressing all of Spuds’ weaknesses with significant upgrades in those key positions. Just 1 or 2 more signings and they’ll have totally completed their business weeks before their preseason even starts. Meanwhile, silence from us who have so much work to do after we heard repeatedly about how we were going to be quick and decisive once the season was over. 🙄🙄🙄
-
That totally fucks things then, huh? Hamstrings are no joke and especially so for a player who relies on physicality and athleticism like Koundé does. Does the new, post Roman Chelsea spend £65-70m on an injured player?
-
It actually feels like the Twitter admin was having a bit of fun with the “good start to the week” tweet. 🤣 On the day where City unveil Haaland and the day Liverpool will likely announce their shiny new €100m striker Nuñez, we hype up an extension for a player who probably won’t play at all for us this coming season.
-
Signing a teenage keeper we won’t see for years? Will he sign a 7 year contract like Kepa? Otherwise, with a typical 3-5 year contract that most footballers sign he may never even appear in a Chelsea shirt. Because I doubt we’d keep a 17-18 year old kid as our 2nd choice keeper. That would be incredibly risky.
-
Koulibaly would be interesting as a shorter term signing. But I’ll still believe he’d leave Napoli when I see it. I’d still prefer us to go younger.
