So now hes gone -who do we want ?

Lol I can't see us possibly going for Grant. There is more chance of us going for Jose!!! -
Official: Luiz Felipe Scolari has been sacked
EskWeston replied to DavidEU's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Well i have to say i am stunned! I certainly didn't think anything would happen till the summer, but you would have to look and say something wasn't right! If you believe that it isn't the players then the only answer i guess is to replace the manager. We really need to get someone in long term now, we don't want to become like Madrid and sack a manager every year! -

No chance of Grant comming back..... I would hope that we can bring someone in with the view of a LONG TERM plan, bring someone in and let them build something at this club! I would think Hiddink and Rijkaard would be at the top end of any list we have.... -
Lol, your not wrong...... I would really like to see us do something positive this summer and look to the future of our squad. Signing players like we have (Deco, Sheva, Ballack ect..) are short term solutions. We need to be looking at the future.
-
Must be some sort of record surely.... 3 red cards recinded now this season isn't it? As Warnie rightly says, the damage is done and we lost the game.
-
Excellant signing. Can't believe some people are not happy with this. We have signed a very decent winger without costing us a penny in tansfer fees. What have we got to lose? Quaresma could turn out to be a cracking player for us and we could sign him at the end of the season, or he could not have an impact and we have lost nothing. Quaresma for me HAS to be an improvement on Malouda! With J.Cole out and Kalou and Malouda our only first team wingers we were desperate for something to help us. And this is a very good deal for us and one that has come as avery pleasant suprise. I am certainly looking forward to seeing him play for us.
-
Would be a good loan for him. With limited reserves games it is very hard for these boys. He is a very talented player but has lost a little form this season, not helped of course by the limited game time he has had. I think a loan move would do him the world of good.

lol. Country comes to a stop when a bit of snow hits. Trains, busses and the majority of business all closed down for a day because it is snowing....
-
Hasn't stopped snowing all day! 90% of people have not bothered to go to work. I drove into work this morning which normaly takes an hour, took 2! People who live 10 minutes away didn't bother coming into work! Looking forward to the drive home!!!!!!!!
-
Yup, i would go along with that! By the way does anyone know what has happened to Di Santo, since his excellant performance against Stoke he hasn't even made the bench!
-
To be absolutely brutal and to start a rebuild for the future now rather than wait any longer i would get rid of: Ferreira, Ballack, Deco, Malouda and Drogba and possibly one of Alex and Ivanovic. For me this squad has gradually slipped gears over the last few seasons. Part of that for me is signing players who are not going to improve and only go downhill, we need to really think forward to the next 5 or so seasons and what we are looking to build because our squad is starting to look poorer the longer we go on.
-
Time now to really do something. We should beat Hull but they will make it difficult for us. We HAVE to not play Malouda, he has become far too much of a liability for me and offers nothing to the team! We need to be much more positive with our approach and actually create some chances.

Reserve team regular Carl Magnay has today joined League One side MK Dons on a one-month loan deal. Magnay, who joined us after winning the Football Icon programme in 2006, links up with team-mate Shaun Cummings at stadium:mk, working under former Blue Roberto Di Matteo and assistant Eddie Newton. The 20-year-old defender has made seven reserve league appearances for the second string this season, added to the 16 he accumulated in 2007/08, and has also captained the side twice in Liam Bridcutt's absence. Also this month, Magnay received his first call up into the Northern Ireland Under 21 squad. His first opportunity for match action will be at Cheltenham on Saturday, when the Dons will be favourites to win and maintain their second place status in the division. Fellow defender Cummings, who joined Magnay on last summer's humanitarian trip to Israel and Jordan in aid of global charity partner Right to Play, has already amassed 25 appearances for the Buckinghamshire club. Carl has been a dedicated professional since winning the Sky One footballing talent show, and all at the club wish him well over the next month. His has been a fantastic journey so far and it would be a huge testament to his hard work if he appears in a Football League game. Source: Chelsea FC

Forget starting both Drogba and Anelka, it just isn't going to happen. Personally i would go with Drogba upfront but i think we will see the same starting line up as against Boro'

No talks with Roman Abramovich yet, says Holger Heims
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
These Germans seem only interested in making money off the club. At least Roman has put a lot of money in the club already. Lets face it, people are going to find it harder and harder to afford to go to football games, and also to justify spending that sort of money on it. More games will not sell out, for all teams. Football will soon catch up with the rest of the country and clubs will have to tighten up, which we already seem to be doing. -

There is no way that this will happen. Roman will still own our club for a very long while. OK the structure of the club has changed a lot lately with money not being pumped in all the time, but lets face it, we all knew this was going to happen from day 1. The initial input was to get Chelsea on a level with all the other major clubs - we have done that and now we are working in a different way. The problem we have is that we have a lot of big name players on big money comming into their 30's or already in their 30's which makes our situation look a little unstable. But i think we will see this summer a lot of that addressed one way or another. Bottom line is Roman is staying, and i think we would all prefer that. -
Are we 'actually' going to sign anyone?
EskWeston replied to chrismada9's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I am pretty sure we won't sign anyone now! The most we will do is sign a keeper on loan until the summer. The club are clearly looking at making big cut backs in the wage bill at the club, which will involve getting rid of players earning tons for little and more than likely replacing them with younger players who will accept a lower wage, possibly from our own academy. I am sure in the summer (or even still in this window) we will let a centre back go and allow Mancienne to take their place. Mancienne is a quality player and his wages would be significantly lower than any of the others. Likewise i am sure they are hoping Stoch can carry on impressing and become more of a figure next season rather than splash out on someone. But i am not expecting anyone to come in. -
From reports it would seem we are lining up a loan till the end of the season! We should have waited till the summer really.....
-
I guess Carlo was getting desperate for first team football and spurs came in for him so he jumped at it! It really is a damn shame he had to go to that mob though!!
-
I agree that using our own youngsters is the ideal situation for your squad players. Because they are hopefully talented enough to do a job when called upon and are young enough to be patient enough to actually be squad players and not expect regular first team football. You do get a sense that is what we are building towards. When you look to next season we would think that Mancienne will certainly bea full part of the first team squad, similar could be said of Stoch if he continues to impress in the time he is given this season. Then we have the players out on loan, Ryan Bertrand could certainly come in as Ashley Cole's back up and understudy. Jack Cork is another impressing everywhere he goes on loan and could be around the squad next season. Sinclair has in my opinion got to make a big impact at Birmingham. But this is what we want to see rather than us forking out up to £10m for players who are average or comming to the end of their usefullness for a top club. However it is not easy to do but with Di Santo, Mancienne and Stoch in and around at the moment we are moving in the right direction.
-
Gutted that he is gone but i can certainly understand the reasons behind it from a personal point of view from Carlo and from the clubs point.
-
Sinclair has been hindered by sporadic first team appearances, moved around on loan and then we clung onto him for the Home grown quota when a season long loan at a good club would have been more beneficial to him. Unfortunately i don't think we have handled him too well. Going through 3 managers hasn't helped either but it certainly affected Sinclair, and unfortunately Stoch has developed above Sinclair now.

Never even play the normal game mode! It's all about the online play for me

February aparently, not sure when in Feb though.

A bit of a non-story really. So a bunch of Germans are interested in buying Chelsea? Doesn't mean anything, i am sure there are a lot of people who are interested. It will be interesting to find out what Kenyon is talking about when our financial figures come out.
