Buck warns supporters not to expect big signings in January
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Yes Belletti has been good, but he is Scolari's solution to everything. He is ALWAYS brought on no matter what the situation. Like i said, if we need to change something on the wings, bring a winger in. We are not going to know what these players can do unless we put them in and give them the time. 3 nil up at half time would for me be the perfect time to blood some fresh new players but it never happens, not matter how much we have the game in the bag. -
What is there to moan about. Lampard has been looked over by the England Physio and passed not fit to play - that was done without any drama, i am not sure though why Gerrard didn't get checked over first and was then forced to fly over to be checked. Players get injured, it happens, this is what you get when you put an international game in the middle of a packed November playing schedule.

Michael Mancienne shock England call-up
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
All well and good saying that, but it has to happen. It's not as if Mancienne has just dropped out of no-where! Mancienne has looked like making it the way he has for years. We should never have brought in Ivanovic and brought Mancienne into the squad this summer. This is where we still have not got it right with our young stars - our academy is at a very high standard now and our reserve team is full of extremely talented young footballers and now we need to give them their chances with the first team to see if they can cut it - it is the only way to know. It's not just Mancienne. It's Cork, Bertrand, Stoch, Sahar - not to mention Sinclair and Di Santo all knocking on the door to get their chance and show what they can do and prove they are good enough for our first team. -

Well even though we have suffered from injury, i think we will be fine with our squad. Especially if we are going to be willing to use some younger players as cover. For example instead of bringing belletti on to play right wing, bring Sinclair on. And i can't believe Di Santo hasn't been given more oppertunities. -
Michael Mancienne shock England call-up
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
As far as i can see there are 2 options with us regarding Mancienne, as there was a lot of interest in Ivanovic over the summer if we can make a profit on him then we let him go and bring Mancienne in or come the January transfer window when Mancienne is back from his loan, we loan him to a premier league club - the latter is exactly what i think will happen, if we can do that and he gets regular first team football in the premier league then that will suit both Chelsea and Mancienne i think. The Championship is not where he needs to be now. -
We was unlucky in a way last night, we created chances but just couldn't finish them. But i think most people would have liked to have seen more from the team, not in the way of aggresiveness or fight, just plain motivation. We should have had that game won - Malouda and Kalou had poor games, would it have been any worse playing Sinclair and Stoch? No arguably it most likely would have been better!
-
A poor performance really. We have seen it happen before when playing lower league opposition. The players have won the game in their head before kick off! I would have liked to have seen Sinclair, Di Santo and Stoch from the start, they would have more motivation than the players who did start. Dissapointing for sure to go out, but it happens.
-
Di Santo needs playing time as much as Drogba, Di Santo looked very impressive when he came on against Liverpool and i am astounded that he hasn't been given more oppertunities as a sub. No matter what situation we are in during a game the first sub made is always Belletti, when games are under control we should be looking to give players like Di Santo, Sinclair and Ivanovic playing time to show what they can do. Would be very dissapointed indeed if Sinclair and Di Santo are not starters tonight and i would at least expect to see Miroslav Stoch get a run out tonight to show what he can do at this level.
-
From the talk out of the club it is going to be a very strong team put out, which is fair enough. Di Santo and Sinclair are both first team players so it would be nice to see them get a start, but with Drogba back in action Di Santo may miss out once again unless Scolari fancies playing 2 up top. Our squad is so small that there are not many changes that can be made, Ivanovic to come in, Bosingwa to maybe get a rest. Not much change we can do in midfield: ................................Cudicini................................. Ferreira..........Ivanovic........Terry..................Bridge .................................Mikel.................................... ....................Lampard..........Deco........................... Kalou........................Drogba.......................Sinclair Would be my guess for the starting line up.

Bosingwa Is Chelsea Player Of Month For October
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Absolute brilliant signing he is. Has made a huge impact since his arrival and i hope he can keep up the high standards. -
A excellant chance for us to give some players a chance to prove themselves this season. Starts for Ivanovic, Di Santo and Sinclair. Would also like to see Stoch get a start but i think he will more likely be on the bench. We will put out a strong side still and i am sure we will win this game.

We are getting to a point with all the clubs around us moving to bigger and better stadiums that something is going to have to be done if we are to move forward as a club. But this has gone on for a very long time now.

Top Two players to leave Chelsea in January
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Our squad cannot be trimmed any more. We have a very good squad indeed. Ferreira is a possibility to leave though. -
Vialli takes a swipe at Chelsea's title hopes
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Nah, we are nothing like Arsenal. Arsenal are inconsistant - we are top of the league, and top of our Champions League group. The problem is we are still a work in progress and can't be perfect all the time. People have jumped on the fact we conceded 3 against Roma but our defensive record this season has been outstanding. -
Can't appeal 2 yellows can you? Still hardly worth it, Deco could have had his second yellow before then anyway.
-
Drogba hasn't had a chance to get going yet this season so it is impossible to judge where his head is at or at what sort of level he will play at this season.

Vialli takes a swipe at Chelsea's title hopes
EskWeston replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
The Roma game was somewhat of a freak i feel. We were very comfortable for a long while and then the first went in! After that the players were so determined to attack and get back into the game that Roma managed to nick another couple. I think we are going about things the right way this season, it is a big change and it will not always be perfect but i feel it is the right way for us to move forward. We have had some great results this season. -
Well if he is good enough then fine, Ferreira is clearly not in Scolari's plans and Ivanovic is a centre back. Belletti is better in midfield. Have not seen anything of this guy but playing at Westerlo and coming to Chelsea are completely different playing levels.
-
Kalou is a very talented winger, the only winger we have other than Sinclair who will run at defenders, and get passed them more often than not too. Malouda has been a vast improvement on last season even if he does still sometimes look a bit on the lazy side he has still been very very good for us last season. There are not many players around who we could replace these 2 for and be an improvement.
-
Excellant news, Mikel is awesome. Lets not forget his age, if he was at the Arse he would be lauded as a wonderkid whereas here he his classed among world class players, which is a very good compliment to him actually. Barring the Roma game Mikel has just got better and better, but Mikel wasn't the only player having an off day that game. Mikel is pure class.
-
Of all the teams to lose our home record to it had to be the scousers didn't it!!! We are going to have to find ways around the teams that sit so deep and defend with so many players. We can't find a way around them, Roma midweek and now the vermin. We need ways to break these teams down and make some chances. Thought Mikel was first class today and probably our best player. Di Santo seemed to do more in 20 minutes than Anelka did all game. On the plus side, Liverpoo missed Torres. We missed Essien, Ballack, Drogba and Joe Cole.
-
It doesn't look good for sure when you think our first choice back 5 could be out. But our second choice back 5 is bloody good still: Cudicini, Ferreira, Alex, Ivanovic and Bridge. I would be comfortbale with that for sure. The problem is that it loos like Alex and Cudicini are carrying knocks too.
-
I suppose time will tell on this point. Scolari is really the first one to seriously benefit from our new academy as it has taken time to get to this standard. Certainly more young players are involved regulary - Mancienne, Di Santo, Sinclair - and more recently Stoch. Which is an excellant start, the next stage is giving them game time! The question is can the players be patient enough?
-
You are absolutely correct. The only problem is, that being the case we may as well scrap the youth policy altogether. Mancienne should get his chance and i hope he does. He could be as good as Carvalho for us one day.

How much more exceptional can a Centre Back be at 19/20? Very impressive for the England U21's
