  1. Lol, are you living in some sort of time warp? That story was reported and then denied already......
  2. Yes, this is a big worry! Things are beginning to look comical with the way this is being done! Getting very frustrating now as everyone understands that it is very important to get a new manager in as fast as possible.
  3. Well isn't this story just full of twists and turns!! I can't believe that there are more names being added to the supposed list at this stage in the day. I do agree that was something in that statement that made you think that they have someone in mind who is not attached to a club, but if that is the case why not make an announcement? There is a negative part of me that is thinking that with the season ticket renewals over in 3 days that we are waiting to announce it after then, and it could be someone we would not be overly thrilled about and they are worried it will affect the sales....... but i doubt it. The Mirror claim that Roman has chucked a tantrum after being snubbed by Ancelotti and has put everything on hold for 2 weeks!! One thing is for certain it looks like today we will be able to cross Hughes off the list. A list which is getting shorter all the time. I am still hoping for Rijkaard, but i can't see why it wouldn't have been announced if it was him.
  4. There is a very big chance we could get neither, if we delay and try to get Ancelotti and miss out on Hughes, then there is the risk that we won't get Ancelotti because AC don't HAVE to let him leave.....
  5. So according to Sky, it is Hughes and Ancelotti. Ancelotti being our number 1 target and Hughes our fall back option. If this is the case we are going to have to work pretty fast to find out if we can get Ancelotti or not because Hughes will not hold out for long.
  6. Ancelotti's odds have just plumeted to him being favorite now, you can get evens on him now with quite a few bookies! Roumers are that Roman has had another meeting with Ancelotti with a view to a deal being struck.
  7. F**king Rafa!!!! That has to be a joke, there is no way that is true whatsoever..... Your probably right, everyone has come around to the idea of Hughes. Which means we will not end up with him!
  8. Well it certainly doesn't look like anything is going to happen today. There may be more news come tommorow morning, but we will have to wait and see. Everything at the moment is all about Hughes.
  9. will we know more in 24 hours? This has gone in so many different directions that it is impossible to know. Although a lot of the press are running with the story of news within 24 hours..... right now Hughes is the red hot favorite and looking more likely.
  10. The odds on Hughes are dropping faster than a pair of Jodie Marsh's knickers!!!! Not that it means anything in reality because everyone has been favorite at one time or another! Still no indication from the media other than Sky's announcement! But it is encouraging to hear that there is something brewing...
  11. Both Italian and Spanish football have had their period of dmominance when everyone watched their leagues. At the moment it is the premier leagues turn. I don't think that is a reason to do it. Looking at the national team it is clear that there is not a good enough group of English players to pick from, although it is looking much better for the future - that is a reason to try and strengthen English football.
  12. Like you i find it hard to believe that the board didn't have someone lined up already. But it looks like that wasn't the case which is a bit of a cock up. They can totally redeem themselves by getting this appointment right and backing it in the right way to ensure long term success for our club. There are a lot of things going in favour of Hughes, most of all he is the fans favorite. Rijkaard on the other hand has the attractive football edge.
  13. Your right there is an element of lazyness in it. But i think that would be better to adress somehow than trying to force clubs to play more English players. I am not sure if next season it is 3 or 4 homegrowns we are supposed to have. We have JT as one. And there is the possibility of Mancienne and Cork being involved next season but other than that we have no-one else ready yet. Sinclair is not eligable still i think because of his loan spells!!
  14. There more you look at it the more it is looking the best thing to do. To look at our bench and see a group of ex-Chelsea sitting there taking control of the team we all love would be a huge boost for everyone. And it will show that we are looking long term and have the club at heart. Like you say he will be given a chance, certainly by the fans to build something for the long term. I think the time is right now to make the appointment. The transfer market is starting to crank up now and if we are not careful we are going to miss out on targets, the likes of Dos Santos, Robinho, Moutinho ect are all being linked with other big clubs.
  15. It would be just as good in my opinion to encourage English players to play abroad! Italians, Spanish, Brazillian ect... players scattered all over the place! How many english players are currently playing abroad? It doesn't help the matter thats for sure. The UEFA homegrown rule is a very good one, just from our point of view it means we HAVE to make something out of our academy fast because it cost us on the size of our squad last season!
  16. Excellant end to the series! Loved it when the island moved...... i think Jin might still be alive and get picked up by Daniel in the boat. No idea what will happen to those though now they are standed! Can't wait to find out how and why Locke left the island and what really happend once Jack and the others left the island. Very very interesting. Aparently next season is going to be all about how they get back to the island and the last series is going to be what happens once they do get back.
  17. Forgot about Clarke actually! Your right it is very interesting that nothing has been said about him, so it does look like he is staying. Would be great to have Hughes and his mainly Chelsea staff team up with Clarke.... Only 3 names in it by the looks of it - Hughes, Rijkaard and Scolari. And if Skys claims are true then there is only one of Rijkaard and Scolari in the running with Hughes. And if they are also correct that a choice is ready to be made then i think it rules out Scolari as he has said he is waiting till after the Euros before deciding anything... IF it is down to Hughes and Rijkaard then i am very happy and will not mind which way it goes. Both excellant choices for different reasons....

  19. Another day another twist in the Saga. Hughes has now overnight leaped into the lead as the favorite. Sky claiming that their sources are saying that it is a 2 horse race with Hughes as one of the horses and a foreign manager - no idea who but going off current stories i would say either Scolari or Rijkaard. They also claim that the descision on the new man is imminent.... lets see shall we?
  20. Nothing can happen in or out until a new manager is appointed. We don't HAVE to sell anyone, so until the new man comes in to make the choices then nothing will happen. I am more worried about who we get as the new manager than Jose trying to nick our players.
  21. I would be amazed if anyone but Drogba goes there to be honest.....
  22. I can't understand why Jose is the only manager who takes a group of players wherever he goes? It means nothing in reality, Jose can want all he likes. Different kettle of fish than when he came to us from Porto, we don't need the money. Drogba is the only player i feel could go, and that is because i feel the club are willing to let him go for the right price.
  23. Also depends on the player wanting to leave, and the club being willing to let them go. I can't see Essien, Lamps or Carvalho in any hurry to leave.....
  24. The stories will fly around like mad!!!! Carvalho and Essien will stay put, as will Lamps. Not to bothered about anyone else who could "possibly" leave.
  25. If it was to go ahead it would in theory benefit the national team. It would however weaken the Premier League! I can see the reasoning behind it, getting young English players through is a priority. The current UEFA home grown rule doesn't cover it, because foreign players who have come through at a young age are eligable. For example why we havn't sent out Stoch on loan is so he fits the rule..... Can't ever see it happening though.
