  1. why should anyone who thinks GC was "brilliant" in the second half of the season do anything other than see what GC did. i did not say, GC is a brilliant defender with a high line. i did not say GC was a brilliant defender when we played our high press during the first half of the season. i said that GC was brilliant in the second half of the season. which is TRUE. we had changed our system to suit not just GC but our whole defence line (which includes JT and iva too). as for "A top defender is one who can take responsibility and dominate even without much protection". who here said GC is a top/WC defender.
  2. simple way to describe the current scenario - FLAVOUR OF THE MONTH. go to the first few pages of the thread and the people who were the biggest detractors of this move are now the ones in the biggest support of it currently. an year or 2 down the road, this same john stones will be valued at 15mil. i mean look at barkley. 2 years ago, he was the next rooney. currently, people here wont buy if he was available for 15mil. similarly, currently john stones is the best ball playing defender in the footballing world, he is better than PL's best defender (apparantly) and buying him would mean we wont concede a goal for the next 10 years. dont worry, if we end up not buying him, people will be back in this thread writing things like "bullet = dodged". stones is a good defender. but i wont buy him for 34mil if we had just 2 defenders cos that if probably greater than double his real value. and currently we have 3 better CBs (or atleast as good) plus iva. simply put, we dont need him.
  3. he did not though. and as far as i can remember, he was brilliant in the second half of the season, was not he?
  4. nope its not. it will be zouma who lose the most. he will have next to no playing time. if GC was to be replaced by anyone this season, it should be zouma.
  5. its not just JT. iva and GC too. especially iva.
  6. we dont really know what we got till its gone.
  7. not true. 3rd loan. he would have played (and i use that word lightly) here for a year. performed brilliantly against the likes of suarez, aguero, sterling, eriksen, fellaini and then sent out on loan to koln/borough or relegated to 4th CB position cos we want another young talent.
  8. the 2 examples that you gave just played 38 PL games last season. iva looks to be in as good a shape as he has ever been physically. JT has not played better. so unless, you know something which i cant watch on TV, i just dont see your point. our future is a 20 year old CB who had aguero, sterling, eriksen and fellaini in his pocket. we are looking to buy another 21 year old LB. we have azpi who is 25. our future seems quite secure right now. atleast for 2 years. along with those we have some one like christensen, who would be ready for first team action in 2 years' time. have you heard the comments that jose has made. i know we should not read much between the lines, but its quite apparent that we will be making just one "big signing". and i will be very worried if that is stones.
  9. http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/17998-john-stones/?p=884400 what has changed in an year. from "we dont need a CB" to its alright to spend 26mil to 34mil on a 21 year old. JT has shown himself to be capable of playing as well as he ever has. zouma has not proven himself compared to last april 2014. GC is still GC. i am sorry but we still dont need him. what we need is a CM. rather spend 40mil on verrati or 30mil on witsel than stones.
  10. just saw the match, and honestly speaking, was not one bit surprised by his performance. even for united, he made the right runs but was ignored for rooney and/or rvp. his hold up play was a bit shaky but i expect him to much well adapted to PL's physicality this time around. his overall movement and linkup play were quite good too. all in all, i am going to have so much fucking fun when this season ends.
  11. lets see we sold schurrle for 24mil, loaned salah. had just 3 AMs (hazard-oscar-willian) for 3 positions. cuadrado was one of fiorentina's best players in europa and one of columbia's best player too. he has not settled here well. so people were happy that we were buying a good back up and mostly just re investing. now lets talk about stones. a 21 year old player who has one good year (doubt that too cos i remember everton's defence being absolute crap in the start of last season). whats worse is that he is an "unnecessary" signing since we have JT, GC, zouma (who will definitely be the one to suffer the most. i mean i can only imagine how good zouma must feel being relegated to 4th choice CB after putting in brilliant performances against sterling, eriksen, fellaini and aguero).
  12. 34mil pounds... hahahhahahahahha.. what a joke. to think people thought sterling was overpriced.
  13. the difference in tone between this page and the comments a week back is just awesome. hardly surprising though. people critizing him would have hardly ever seen him. his overall game is quite decent. like i said before, would be a good backup.
  14. christensen was part of our first team. we have moses, cuadrado, traore.. even remy can play wings.. no chance for musonda
  15. whats this fascination with RLC. and everyone thinking he should start and get 60mins. this is pre-season where we need to get our "main" players (players who can actually make a difference to our season) some gametime and fitness.
  16. these were all talented players who did not know where they were going to be next season. young players need grooming. they need mentoring, something which we simply could not provide cos we were busy playing manager-musical chairs. look at kalas. puts in a brilliant performance, loaned out for the season. what is his motivation supposed to be playing for a mid-bottom table german club after being in chelsea first team squad, doing no wrong and getting relegated so immensely. the fact that soooo many talented players with massive potential have turned out to be "flops", means its something wrong with OUR system. there will always be cases like josh where the player and his attitude has been hopeless but most of the share lies with us. now take ake for instance. we sell luis, and now are buying a 21 year old LB. i have not seen baba play but from what people say, he does not seem to be the ideal luis replacement. then why splurge out 15mil when you have ake. where does this leave ake? is he supposed to go on loan to middlesborogh, 2 years after he played a minor part in chelsea's europa campaign. he went to reading and absolutely bossed it. he knows and we all know he is much better than championship level, so what is his motivation going to be when he already knows that he has no chance in hell of making it at chelsea as we have azpi and baba. like i said, the major share of blame has to go on us and how we have managed our youth players. infact, to be honest, i dont think we give a shit about our youth players. kakuta might have been a flop but he was bought for 150k and sold for 3mil pounds. for our board, it will be a good deal. look at that guy "pantic". even before officially saying that he had signed for us, we had loaned him to vitesse. hilarious.
  17. henrique would say thats the only reason oscar's stays for this season.
  18. agreed. i think we ake can take luis' minutes, though honestly speaking, i wont be surprised if we buy baba.
  19. he was supposedly very close to his loan move to boro before the pre-season. i am guessing the luis situation has put a stop to everything. luis wont be officially sold unless baba is done and ake wont be loaned unless baba is done too (just so we have a back up under the worst case scenario). also, i remember jose saying that ake will be loaned out this season (maybe towards the end of the PL or the post season friendlies). so maybe he does not see ake as a real replacement right now, which is a shame.
  20. point is prepared to lose him at what cost? 50mil?
  21. i think the quoted prices are 20mil euros not pounds.
