less than 2 days for our official season to start. we have 5 defenders. no natural LB and no cover in case even a minor injury happen. should we still be patient?

fee - 50mil 4 years of wages - 40mil ancelotti - 6mil avb - 1mil (got a job in 3 months) rdm - 10mil (130kpw for 19 months) total ~ 105-115mil i would say. (i wont take manager's salaries into account cos thats not unfair. i mean we would be paying someone to do the job). but i do agree with the gist of your post. torres was a disaster. an eye opener. a cautionary tale. it has made us be a lot more sensible in the transfer market but now we are just being misers.

he has what it takes to be a very good backup in case willian gets injured. if you are going to compare every possible winger option to hazard, i am sorry, you wont find ANY available options that are good enough to lace his boots.

mata was the most integral part of our team. infact the team revolved around him. hell, we could not beat qpr at the bridge if we gave mata a rest. jose changed all of that. how does it make any sense to say "cya kdb, and hello cuadrado". kdb's usefulness to the squad was so immense that we did not even need for him to be replaced. salah was mata's replacement. schurrle was already here and cuadrado was schurrle's replacement. the current position in our squad corresponding to kdb's position in 13-14 is being taken by bertrand traore

Moses has been our best player by a mile. He desrrves a start. Falcao and remy have been less than okay and none of them give us the presence of costa. I expect us to start shaky and then get into it by the second half. 2-1/2-0.

if we leave out this glorified friendly, why should not i think so? 2012 PL - double over city, double over pool, draw and win against united, draw and win against arsenal 2013 PL - draw and win against city, draw and win against pool, draw and win against united, draw and win against arsenal. i definitely wont worry about it. also, i am not saying, that we dont need a new CM. if selling one of rambo/mikel means getting a witsel, i am all in. but our problems is more than just rambo. it is worrying how cesc massively under-performs every big game. people will come out with stats saying that this is not the case, but i say BULLSHIT. cesc was poor yesterday as he has been in most of our big games. he is a quality player and will always have a moment of magic, just like that pass to hazard yesterday. if that had gone in, cesc would have had an assist, but did his overall performance still merit more than a 5/10? hell no. he lost the ball countless time, defensively as a no.10 and provinding support to matic and rambo, he was AWOL. and this happens almost every big game. yet we change our formation every big game, as much to accomodate cesc's defensive deficiencies as to play safe. so again, i think rambo is the way to go. infact a midfield trio of rambo-matic-witsel (i keep reverting back to a traditonal 4-3-3)would be a very very good option. otherwise, i would not mind cesc being dropped as oscar being trusted for once in a big match.

i did not see anything wrong with our CBs yesterday. the GC who is said to be nothing more than a moronic, cant play outside his box defender, owned walcott and cazorla and all those speedy, technically superior player. oh wait!!! are we still hungover over that one spurs match or a couple of matches 8 months ago that GC was poor in. hmmm.. our midfield on the other hand is a different issue altogether. england's best talent... LOL. its really shocking how quickly england's best talents change every year 6 months. i mean it was barkley at one point, now he is just another run of the mill player. jones and smalling were the next beckenbaeur and nesta, now united wanted a revamp in defence. so i wont worry if we dont get an overrated 21 year old "good" CB for an outrageous 30+mil fee specially if we reinvest it on a CM like witsel. and before you say why would jose go for a CM, the same thing happened when we went after rooney. when we did not get him, we ended getting willian who is one of our main players currently. so i would rather wait till the last moment in the hope of us signing a CM than a player for an outrageous fee who we currently dont need.

or we could all be pessimistic cos we lost a glorified friendly, right? i mean relegation beckoning!!!!!

dude, please dont let this forum's prejudice rub off you. ramires was very good last night.both of our best chances in the 1st half came through him. i think he had a couple of important interceptions, many tackles and was one of the reasons why our right hand side seemed more secure than our left. after willian he was our best player. players like ramires, can do their job. they can provide us soliditiy and balance but never the spark. they cant be the difference in the match. that is what hazard, cesc, matic and costa are for. one of them was injured and 3 of them had stinkers. azpi seemed way off the pace and iva was more hell bent giving the ball to arsenal than keeping it for us. so, i honestly dont think its down to rambo/mikel and i definitely dont see the point of giving RLC those minutes when he has shown nothing so far.
