again lucio winning the WC had nothing to do with the likes of ronaldo, rivaldo, ronaldinho in the team and the fact that brazil were levels over other teams in attack. if u want a team which actually won international tournament thru defenders then name italy and cannavaro. solid CBs.

if u actually are considering performances then cahill trumps luiz in that. we have looked the most comfortable with JT and GC at the back. irrespective of GC's limitations and constraints compared to luiz, we have looked the strongest and the least vunerable with the JT-GC combo. again, this is not a discussion about who is better between GC and DL (cos i never once have said anything to compare those 2 indivildually). it is about who suits us the most and makes us a better team. for me, the answer has to be GC. also talking about complementing and things, lets take a look at the 3 combos at the back GC-JT : P6 W5 D1 GC-DL: P3 W0 D2 L1 (i have considered munich as a draw since the score was 2-2) DL-JT: P5 W3 D1 L1 goes on to show which has been our best defensive pair.

so now spain and brazil are winning international tournaments because of luiz and pique??? it has nothing to do with the likes of xavi, iniesta, xabi, mata, silva, fiberglass ALL playing in the same team!!! one has to take into consideration the type of plays those teams involve compared to ours. jose is not trying to do a BARCA here. he wants 10 men behind the ball when we are not in possession which is totally different to what barca and spain have done with the likes of pique to win those tournaments. also please take into consideration the midfield of those team. we have a 35 year old CAM playing as a DM whereas those teams have the best CMs and DMs available in the world right now. hence the trophies.

its all relative. would luiz be worth 35mil to barca in the system they play. u can bet everything u have on it. he would be immense for them. a perfect fit to play alongside puyol/pique as the last man. for us has he been anything close to 24mil. as alex said "NOT A CHANCE IN HELL".

i think mou had no option but to take out lamps. i remember a time in the 2nd half when lamps put in another of his hard-tackles and i realized he was already on a yellow. mikel was the most natural replacement from lamps. i expected more of mikel. i expected him to play like a man possessed and who came out and played with a point to prove. but i was suprised it was the same old mikel and what was worse was there were about 2 instances when navas went past him with mikel not even fouling him and one instance where fernandinho ghosted past rambo and him. for me, he was poor. he could have and should have done better.

walcott and podolski are back in training. many expected them to start against palace so that their main team could start against us. but now i think this match would be a comeback match for them

ozil played 3 matches in 7 days and in the next 7 days they have pool, bvb and united, which means their title credentials as well as their CL qualification is on the line. i truly doubt that wenger would risk any of those 2 for a COC match. podolski and walcott are back in training from what i have heard.

what is wrong with trying to be "safe" when u r talking about a CB? we are not BARCA nor is jose trying to make us one. he is even instilling a sense of defensive responsibiblity among the likes of hazard. so we will always be playing "safe" there. GC is an average CB. his reading of the game is average, interceptions are average but in the box, he is very good. GC knows his limitations and he knows his strengths and he plays accordingly. he plays the odds when he keeps shying back from strikers into the box to make a last ditch tackle but atleast he makes the strikers earn their goal. i have no doubt that DL would have intercepted the ball that led to aguero's goal, on the other hand GC gave aguero 2 yards' space to take a shot from a very acute angle towards cech's near post - not as bad a thing as people are making out to be.

arsenal have pool, bvb and united as their next 3 fixtures. i think their front 4 + full backs + ramsey will be rested. as for us, i expect 11 changes. dont even see the point of playing any of the players who started today. we have a MASSIVE squad and if people dont get chances now, they never will. i honestly think both the teams will play their B teams.

surpassed my expectations today. was pretty decent. tackled really hard to compensate for his pace.
