The Portuguese fella is widely expected to make a Stamford Bridge return this summer. After his hard time at Real Madrid, some are saying it would be his easy option. I disagree. There is no doubt, his disciples down the Fulham Broadway would supply him with the adulation and affection he so obviously craves. The regulars in The Shed and The Matthew Harding Stand would cut him more slack than they have some of his predecessors. And even owner Roman Abramovich’s trigger finger might lose the itchiness it has suffered with in the past. But despite all of this goodwill, I still think it would be brave of him to embark on a second stint at a club where he was so successful and iconic first time around. Mourinho, who took over as Chelsea boss in 2004, won two Premier League titles in three years before leaving the club in 2007. He would be expected to match that impressive record. But there is a genuine risk his comeback could result in the shine being lost from his halo. Chelsea are no longer the Prem’s biggest spenders as they were when he was first there. They are no longer an automatic choice to finish first or second, or even in the top four for that matter. Chelsea have the makings of an excellent squad, but there is still a lot of work to be done. His heralded return as boss is far from the cushy number it is being made out to be in some quarters. Mourinho has plenty to lose — not least his reputation. It would be so much simpler for him to take a post elsewhere, where he has no previous, baggage or expectation. There is a reason and countless examples why they say you should never go back, especially as a manager. Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool is the most recent example. That is why it would be a brave decision for Mourinho to go back to Chelsea. Following Real Madrid’s Champions League exit to Borussia Dortmund this week Mourinho said: “I want to go somewhere where I am loved.” He has made no secret of the fact he feels he has not been loved by the top brass, fans and players at the Bernabeu. He’s not happy or at his best when he’s not loved. They say ego is the destroyer of man, but Mourinho is the exception. In his case, ego is his motivation. He is clearly a delicate flower who needs to be loved. Well, there is no place that loves him more than Chelsea. He can do no wrong with the fans there. His arrival would spark a feel-good feeling at Stamford Bridge in stark contrast to the negativity directed at poor old Rafa Benitez during his interim spell. If Mourinho could harness that positivity alongside a healthy transfer budget then it is not impossible he could bring the glory days back to the Bridge again. It is not as though he has to completely overhaul the squad, just a few top signings here and there. It would not be as easy as some are suggesting, but it is a job Mourinho could handle. He is suited perfectly to the English way — and more importantly the Chelsea way. He also loves a bit of turmoil which is only ever just around the corner when you manage the Blues. He does things other managers wouldn’t dream of doing. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t. But there is no middle ground with Mourinho. With the way things ended for him at Stamford Bridge in 2007, there has always been a feeling he has unfinished business with Chelsea. I, for one, hope he is brave enough to go back and conclude it this summer. José Mourinho and Chelsea have yet to strike an agreement over return Talks between parties representing José Mourinho and Chelsea over his potential return remain ongoing, with no agreement as yet struck despite the Portuguese's very public courting of his former club in the aftermath of Real Madrid's Champions League exit on Tuesday night. Mourinho, whose trophy-laden if turbulent spell of a little over three seasons in London ended abruptly in the autumn of 2007, suggested he expects to leave the Bernabéu at the end of the current campaign and move to a club "where people love me". He is considered favourite to become Chelsea's permanent manager – once Rafael Benítez's interim stewardship draws to a close in June – having reconciled with Roman Abramovich in the years since, but is technically only one of a number of candidates to whom the Londoners are speaking. While Chelsea will only publicly address the managerial situation at Stamford Bridge once the season is complete, discussions have been taking place for some time behind the scenes and the hierarchy, via intermediaries, have sounded out potential replacements for Roberto Di Matteo, who became the fifth full-time manager sacked by Abramovich in the period since Mourinho departed London, when he was relieved of his duties last November. The Portuguese is understood to be top of that list, though there remain issues that need to be ironed out before he could swap Spain for the Premier League. His contractual ties with Real are one, given his current deal extends to 2016, but primary among the obstacles remains the amount of power he would be able to wield back at Chelsea. The original fracture of his relationship with Abramovich during his previous spell at the club was born of frustrations over transfer policy, with the imposition of Avram Grant as a director of football riling the Portuguese. Yet, if he was to return, Mourinho would have to accept the existing structure at the club, particularly given the positions of the chief executive, Ron Gourlay, and the technical director, Michael Emenalo, are not believed to be under any threat. Indeed, the latter heavily influences the club's scouting and recruitment. It remains to be seen whether Mourinho, who has also generated interest from Paris Saint-Germain, will accept that hierarchy within the club and can therefore secure the return to which he alluded on Tuesday night after Borussia Dortmund eliminated his Real team from the Champions League. "I want to be where people love me to be," he said. "I know in England I'm loved. I'm loved by the fans, I'm loved by the media that treats me in a fair way, criticising me but giving me credit when I deserve it. I know I'm loved by some clubs, especially one, and in Spain, the situation is a bit different because some people hate me." Many on the playing staff would welcome his arrival, which could yet have an influence on whether Frank Lampard is offered a one-year contract to extend his stay at the club beyond the summer. John Terry is entering the final year of his current deal, with both having been key players during Mourinho's first spell in charge. The defender Branislav Ivanovic, who joined under Grant, was quoted in the Serb newspaper Vecernje Novosti saying: "Everyone who loves Chelsea hopes Mourinho will return. "As players we don't have any confirmed information that he would return. But we would all like it to happen because he is one of the best coaches in the world. He is immensely respected by all for what he has done for the club. With him we can be stronger as a club. It would add another dimension to Chelsea, and it would be sure to help us become one of the main contenders for the title." Chelsea have also sounded out the Málaga manager, Manuel Pellegrini, over his potential availability having been impressed with the Spanish club's progress into the Champions League quarter-finals this term. The Chilean, who has previously coached at Real Madrid and Villarreal, is contracted for a further season though there is a buy-out clause believed to be set at around £3.4m for his services. Other options mooted have been David Moyes, who is out of contract at Everton in the summer, or Atlético Madrid's Diego Simeone, while the former Chelsea players Gus Poyet and Gianfranco Zola have impressed with their progress at the Championship clubs Brighton and Watford respectively this term. It falls upon Benítez to secure Champions League qualification – his team are currently third – before he departs, with his side hoping to secure their progress into the Europa League final by seeing off Basel at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night. The Londoners are 2-1 up from last week's leg in Switzerland, with a full squad having trained at Cobham ahead of the tie on Wednesday morning. The interim manager is also due to take the side on their post-season tour of the United States, where they will play Manchester City in St Louis and New York, with no formal announcement on a permanent appointment anticipated until June.

Former Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado believes Jose Mourinho, who continues to be linked with a return to former club Chelsea, has already made a decision about his future and is set to return to England. Mourinho recently stated that he will look to return to the Premier League when the time comes to leave the Bernabeu, and he is the bookmakers' favourite to be installed as Chelsea's next permanent boss when interim manager Rafael Benitez steps down next month. The Portuguese, who is under contract with Los Blancos until 2016, earlier this week confirmed he would hold talks about his future with the Spanish giants at the end of the season. But Salgado believes the 'Special One', who left Stamford Bridge in 2007, already knows whether he will be leaving the Champions League semi-finalists at the end of the current campaign. "It would be no surprise if he returns to the Premier League," Salgado was quoted as saying by Sport 360. "I think he has made a decision and it will have nothing to do with whether he wins the Champions League this season or not," "I can see Mourinho returning to England because he loves England, he loves the atmosphere of English football, and the respect English football has for him." Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck this week refused to rule out the possibility of Mourinho returning to Stamford Bridge next season.

Jose Mourinho disappointed with Chelsea offer, and won't commit to club El Pais in Spain today have a really interesting article on Jose Mourinho and his proposed return to Chelsea. They start off by saying that the Real Madrid manager finally got his Chelsea offer in the last week of March, after waiting for the club to contact him since October. However, rather than it being the start of the deal being closed it has only managed to open up old problems and create something of a gap between Mourinho and Abramovich. The Russian owner is said to just want Mourinho to be the manager of the team and players available, rather than have a more powerful role. Mourinho would prefer to be in control of everything including transfers and won't commit to Chelsea with the offer the way it is at the moment. This has left Chelsea worried that they may lose the Mourinho option and both sides are a bit worried about what the other may do. It fits in with an El Confidencial article published a week ago, they claimed that Marina Granovskaia had been sent to Madrid to sort out the situation. El Confidencial reckoned that Abramovich is a bit worried because Mourinho won't commit, which was the opposite of much being reported in England. Marina Granovskaia is Abramovich's right hand woman and bringing her in would be a signal that his intentions were serious. Nevertheless, it doesn't change the gap in what each man wants from the situation and El Pais explain that Mourinho is going to give the situation some space, hope he can win the Champions League and then force Abramovich to give him more power. The Portuguese manager already holds all the cards with Real Madrid likely to not want to lose him, PSG always in the picture and Chelsea continually linked. A Champions League win would take that to a whole new level and mean that he could demand more, both in terms of power and finance. El Pais suggest their source is from Gestifute, Mourinho's agents led by Jorge Mendes - so it would be a pretty solid source of information. Mourinho is apparently upset that Abramovich doesn't trust him enough to give him full control. The whole thing sounds somewhat like an elaborate mating ritual and the two men will no doubt posture further for the new couple of months before having to make a decision over whether to commit. Given that it fits in with other reports and that the behaviour from both men sounds about right, this story sounds like it could be close to the current truth.

Jose Mourinho has urged Chelsea to confirm his dramatic return to Stamford Bridge or risk missing out. Jorge Mendes has spent a few days in London. logical considering that the agent Jose Mourinho has many players spread across the English city but his visit is especially relevant with all the rumors pointing to the future of Real Madrid coach as the bench next tenant Chelsea and when he has been seen with people other than the blue team. As has been told the Confidential , the representative of Real coach has met with Marina Granovskaia, Roman Abramovich's right hand, returning to Madrid on the basis of a possible agreement between Mourinho and the owner of the current European champions would be pending Occupant's ok white bench. Now, thanks to this new movement in the soap opera that has become the future of the Portuguese, the ball is in the court of the Portuguese. The scenario is dreamed by Mou. already aware of the interest of Chelsea, knows that the gates of PSG has them spread and dominates the Santiago Bernabeu Madrid fans and a possible continuity of Real Madrid. It feels secure and confident. "He's the best coach in the world" discussed in the noble Bernabéu but added: "More and more complicated to manage." Abramovich knows he still can not count on Mourinho. The Portuguese, who has yet to decide his future, holds all the aces in your hand. was not the first time that Russian makes a proposal to the Portuguese, hence keep cautious about final technical decision. Two years ago the scene was very similar, which served to coach Chelsea contract in hand, to force goodbye Jorge Valdano. So Chelsea owner does not trust at all and does not rule with an offer in hand is used to achieve other objectives and 'clean' the costume of one of their declared enemies. As published by the British press, the agreement speaks of the petition to earn 14 million euros per season, amount that is above what he earns at Real Madrid and ratify it as the world's highest paid coach. He even spoke about the future of some players and the intention of the Portuguese players have determined the current squad. Pretend to have Lampard at his side although it seems to have both feet in the United States. Rafa Benitez and the English press for granted Rafa Benitez luxury spectator of all that is happening regarding the future of Chelsea and by extension that of Real Madrid, is convinced that the next occupant of the bench at Stamford Bridge will be your 'friend' intimate Jose Mourinho. Nor hides and does not want to. Considers the Real Madrid coach has not behaved as I should have but the relationship between the two is far from ideal. In line with this lack of decision by the two-time champion of the Champions League, one of the British Sunday issued a supposed words of a friend of Mourinho: "His desire is to return to Chelsea, is where you want to be. Whenever I sing his name, his desire grows.'ll sign for it earns at Real Madrid. José has not yet made a decision and could remain at the Bernabeu but wants to go to Chelsea ". The British press does not stop. since February speak of the return of Mou. Every day you see any news or any new comments that approaches the white coach still on his return to Stamford Bridge. Mourinho talk friends, players like Torres and even theAlex Ferguson should be tranquil if his friend Joseph did not return to the Premier as confessed in the last days. The United manager, on the eve of a new Premier to sentence at 71 years old, talked about Mourinho and his return: "It would be good for us. If Joseph returns to Chelsea would be a great news for them and bad for us. both for him and for the players would be a great challenge. Besides the template that already have enough money to pay 250,000 euros a week to another bunch of players. "
