  1. Torres is tougher mentally then most think. Don't let the hairband fool you. You don't get to his level of play without being mentally tough. He played at Atletico Madrid and the abuse he received from Real fans (and continues to) makes Lipton look like his #1 fan. He left his boyhood club which he loved, still loves, and who love him for CL. He didn't let emotion rule his competitive desire. He left Liverpool where the dirty scousers loved him for CL. Again he didn't let emotion rule his competitive desire. Chelsea so far hasn't been a fantastic run for him (understatement) but he's continued to grind it out, continued to fight. As painful as it's been to watch him some days, as a supporter all I ask from him (and any other player) is to keep fighting. The goal yesterday was instinctive and class from the movement, the anticipation of Anelka's great pass, and the calm finish. The other thing that happened - Shakespeare would have had a field day with yesterday's events.
  2. Sometimes its better to fly under the radar. Let the media write off Chelsea while AVB gets his evolution going one game, one training session at a time.
  3. I think most Chelsea supporters have liked Lukaku from the beginning. What's not to like with the man-child? He loves Chelsea and proudly says so. His smile is infectious. You want him to do well. Bottom line he's still 18 years old and time is on his side. Don't let the price tag Chelsea paid for him rush the process if he's not ready yet. I'm sure the minutes yesterday were invaluable to him. A loan wouldn't hurt him, maybe Bolton? maybe Wigan (not sure how he'd fit into their style)?
  4. I've been boycotting Lipton since the beginning. It's one thing to write Torres is playing like sh*t, etc. Lipton seems to have an agenda where his sole goal is to break Torres down at every opportunity. I've never seen a hack with a such an obvious agenda except maybe Hansen or Aldridge who at least hate him because he left their precious scousers and I can see their twisted logic although they both irritate the hell out of me.
  5. Defending wasn't Mata's best attribute today. He's smart though and he'll learn from it.
  6. @WayneRooney on twitter: Great win against a good team in Chelsea today. Just seen my pen back and only now we have won I can laugh. But seriously happy with win

  8. The highs and lows of an athlete. One minute you're great, another you're dog sh*t. When Rooney and Torres exchanged words at the end of the match, Rooney probably said "thanks, mate, now they'll forget all about me and my stupid hair".
  9. I saw that picture too. He said he likes to wear them 2-3 weeks. Funny how he said he doesn't like when they bring him the protype in black.
  10. I think he used them Wed in the CL game. Looks like today was the first day.
  11. Between dodojojo and me, not sure who the bigger Torres homer is. I think if Torres was answering my calls, returning my texts, even he'd say he should have finished that chance. I wish he had 1) to shut up the damn red media and 2) because maybe there would have been a slim chance for a draw and 3) then the media would actually look at King Kenny's 0-4 spanking by the Spurs. It could have been worse - he could have had no goal AND that miss.
  12. Chicharito has been doing that since he got to the league and started. At least he's been consistent in that. Not like he just started doing it. At least he didn't get on the scoring sheet today.
  13. That made me laugh out loud. The only article on the game I've read is Henry Winter from the Telegraph who wrote it up pretty decently with all the highs and lows. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/8765453/Manchester-United-3-Chelsea-1-match-report.html
  14. Another positive today: dirty scousers got spanked.
  15. I get it. Even though it's "just the Carling Cup", the competition, Fulham, won't be easy. Does AVB play the youngsters or go for it with the big boys because it's Fulham and they tied City today?
  16. Anybody have AVB quotes after the game? I admit I'm too lazy to look.
  17. Can't embed the link from his website but I posted the link above.
  18. Here's the link from his website. http://fernando9torres.com/index.php?s=multimedia&t=videos&c=10
  19. I like Mata a lot but last couple of games he's looked tired at the end which makes sense considering his movement. Welcome to the pace of the PL today. Thought Meireles didn't have a great game. Not awful, not great. Ramires is the energizer bunny out there. He and Torres need to say after and have a finishing session or two. Was surprised to see Anelka come on for Frank at half. Anelka has good movement and an eye for the final ball. Good job Anelka and AVB for making the decision. Defense is a little off kilter at the moment. The scoreline looks bad and the media will focus on Torres' miss. I'm choosing to focus on the improvement and speed of play the team has shown since week 1 and AVB's willingness to make changes to the squad. I posted in the wrong thread. Should be in the match thread.
  20. He can be brilliant one minute and then sh*t a few seconds later but I still love him. A friend said another reason he's getting better beside the quicker play and through balls (Anelka, Ramires) is his hair is getting lighter. Whatever it takes.
  21. I say the boys give him some stick at the next training session, laugh about it and move on. That's all you can do is laugh. And had two complete games.
  22. I'm a Torres homer. That said the first goal was quality. The miss. Words escape me. The only thing I can possibly think is he rushed it. Even so... wow.
  23. Pretty much spot on. Doesn't matter. All I'm concerned about is what AVB focuses on publicly (back the team) and privately (work on what needs to be worked on).
  24. Torres sublime goal to score and sublime miss. That's him to a T. Fantastic one second and wtf! (and not in a good way) the next. At least he scored one goal and hopefully there will be more. After his Spanish benching, Sunderland game, 2 assists during the week and a goal (should have been more) today. At least he's getting better.
