Fundraising for terminally ill Daniel's Chelsea wish Day
Tortilla9 replied to altiuslaura's topic in General Chat
Do you have a quick blurb and I'll be glad to post it on Twitter and ask a few diehard Torres fans to get the word out. -
http://www.socceramerica.com/article/43847/soccer-on-tv.html For the US, FSC Plus is showing the damn scousers live (2:40 pm ET) and Chelsea tape delay at 5 pm ET.

And from every account I've read the Stamford Bridge supporters have been very supportive and the traveling fans even more so. -
I used to have a Google alert set up that would give me links to all Torres articles. I quickly gave that up because for every even handed article a la Henry Winter there were 20 poison pen articles from the likes of the Lipton, Samuel, etc.

Chelsea Sack Andre Villas-Boas

I agree. He briefly talked about it post-match and he wasn't a raving lunatic about it either. Evidentally watching tape he saw some decisions he felt were blatantly wrong and wanted the point out the error of their ways. -
FSC says Wed at 2 pm (PT). I have the DVR already scheduled to record it. I'll double check my DISH guide.

I play nothing but sideline watcher. My daughter plays ACM, occasionally forward, occasionally holding CM..

Chelsea Sack Andre Villas-Boas

Wonder whose calling him Bambi? Probably Josh. I can see it now. Did seem the inmates were running the asylum before with non-Chelsea types allowed to come and go and a less than punctual atmosphere. I'm sure some aren't happy with the new changes and good for AVB for having control and running it the way he wants too. Ultimately its his neck on the chopping block. -

Neil Ashton reveals AVB's secrets. The Daily Fail and Neil so take it for what you think its worth. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2039372/Andre-Villas-Boas-rules-revealed-Secrets-Chelseas-new-boss.html -
I reacted more like Fernando tbh. That one hurt a little.

Off the pitch he is notoriously quiet and shy. He'd rather be home with his kids, his wife (childhood sweetheart), his dogs, and playing video games. He's very family oriented and still hangs out with the same group of friends when he was at Atletico. He's not one for the nightlife even before he had kids. He's notorious for not speaking to the English media, especially written. If he does interviews its usually with Spanish media, his intermediaries through Guiilem Ballague, or the occasional 30 second interview after a match. If he were to do an English print media interview we probably wouldn't see another one for 3-4 years. Watching FSC yesterday, the announcer said "I wonder what is going on between the ears of Fernando". I was thinking to myself something along the lines of "STFU!" but that's just me. -
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23988577-villas-boas-reveals-blueprint-for-success-in-failure-at-old-trafford.do Another decent article without the media hate from others. The picture says a 1000 words but the article is well-balanced.

FSC is televising it in the States.

Torres is tougher mentally then most think. Don't let the hairband fool you. You don't get to his level of play without being mentally tough. He played at Atletico Madrid and the abuse he received from Real fans (and continues to) makes Lipton look like his #1 fan. He left his boyhood club which he loved, still loves, and who love him for CL. He didn't let emotion rule his competitive desire. He left Liverpool where the dirty scousers loved him for CL. Again he didn't let emotion rule his competitive desire. Chelsea so far hasn't been a fantastic run for him (understatement) but he's continued to grind it out, continued to fight. As painful as it's been to watch him some days, as a supporter all I ask from him (and any other player) is to keep fighting. The goal yesterday was instinctive and class from the movement, the anticipation of Anelka's great pass, and the calm finish. The other thing that happened - Shakespeare would have had a field day with yesterday's events.

Sometimes its better to fly under the radar. Let the media write off Chelsea while AVB gets his evolution going one game, one training session at a time.
-
I think most Chelsea supporters have liked Lukaku from the beginning. What's not to like with the man-child? He loves Chelsea and proudly says so. His smile is infectious. You want him to do well. Bottom line he's still 18 years old and time is on his side. Don't let the price tag Chelsea paid for him rush the process if he's not ready yet. I'm sure the minutes yesterday were invaluable to him. A loan wouldn't hurt him, maybe Bolton? maybe Wigan (not sure how he'd fit into their style)?

I've been boycotting Lipton since the beginning. It's one thing to write Torres is playing like sh*t, etc. Lipton seems to have an agenda where his sole goal is to break Torres down at every opportunity. I've never seen a hack with a such an obvious agenda except maybe Hansen or Aldridge who at least hate him because he left their precious scousers and I can see their twisted logic although they both irritate the hell out of me. -
At least I didn't pay PPV for that. PPV's always a roll of the dice.

Defending wasn't Mata's best attribute today. He's smart though and he'll learn from it.
-
@WayneRooney on twitter: Great win against a good team in Chelsea today. Just seen my pen back and only now we have won I can laugh. But seriously happy with win

The highs and lows of an athlete. One minute you're great, another you're dog sh*t. When Rooney and Torres exchanged words at the end of the match, Rooney probably said "thanks, mate, now they'll forget all about me and my stupid hair".
-
I saw that picture too. He said he likes to wear them 2-3 weeks. Funny how he said he doesn't like when they bring him the protype in black.
-
I think he used them Wed in the CL game. Looks like today was the first day.

Between dodojojo and me, not sure who the bigger Torres homer is. I think if Torres was answering my calls, returning my texts, even he'd say he should have finished that chance. I wish he had 1) to shut up the damn red media and 2) because maybe there would have been a slim chance for a draw and 3) then the media would actually look at King Kenny's 0-4 spanking by the Spurs. It could have been worse - he could have had no goal AND that miss.
