  1. The crazy scousers can't understand that a player of Meireles quality wouldn't be happy sitting on the bench behind Henderson, Spearing, etc. while Kenny rebuilds his English armada. Add into it their misguided "thinking" that the transfer actually happened in the last 30 minutes of the window. Sure it did. Morons. And one more rant, their hypocrisy knows no bounds. A LFC player should never ever want to leave LFC or they instantly become a traitor. But when a player comes to them the player is looking for history or whatever else they're selling - not CL. Players come and go and it speaks to the small minded nature of LFC that they think they are the end all be all of football.
  2. On the way to the HDC to watch the next step of the Klinsi era. Lets see what the USMNT look like tonight. Will be weird to see no Bradley name out there (about time I say).
  3. That penalty was pretty soft IF it was a penalty. Not quite sure what set off Iniesta but he is so talented its ridiculous.
  4. Mata didn't play. Meireles I read on Portugese forums played solid. Didn't stand out in a 4-0 win. Portugese fans not happy with the team's overall performance but no hating toward Meireles. Torres came on and played about 25 minutes. Cesc played a good through ball, Torres had a good touch to collect it and as he went left he tried to take a shot with his left. The bend wasn't quite there. He played at the top of the spear but didn't see the ball too much. Lot of middle of the park play typical of Spain. Even Spain with their great talent have some inept crossing at times.
  5. Too keep in mind Mata is a relative newcomer to the NT and one of the younger ones. He's a little further down the pecking order for Spain.
  6. Torres is probably thinking what the hell is the matter with you La Liga players?!? It's a freakin' friendly. DB needs to do a little ass chewing because the team is that talented that they don't need dumbass behavior like that.
  7. At least he's taking shots. I'd rather he try shooting than laying it off to someone else. Spain's drama queen antics continue.
  8. Spain wins 3-2 with a PK in the dying minutes. Chile 2 red cards. Fight breaks out at the end of the friendly.
  9. Reina on for Casillas who shouldn't be blamed that his defense is crap. Iniesta and Pedro also on for Alonso and Villa. No need to play Torres or Mata today.
  10. So he can actually get the ball past the near post defender?
  11. Maybe DB isn't too bothered because it's a friendly? On the other hand, Spain has taken their foot off the pedal since winning the WC while other teams are looking to head hunt when they play them.
  12. Sometimes DB is a victim of favoring players based on reputation, ie they play for Barcelona or RM. Puyol has proven how invaluable he is to the SNT. The problem is he's not getting any younger and DB has to find a better solution.
  13. More from Torres website: http://www.fernando9torres.com/index.php?p=4690 - Torres thanking everybody for making it happen http://www.fernando9torres.com/index.php?p=4691 - the match, an Atleti win Shows how much Torres meant to Atleti and vice versa.
  14. Her dream is to play DI soccer and its hard to walk away from a dream. We've told her no matter what college will happen with or without football. Part of me would love to see her play DI. The other part doesn't want to see her riddled with arthritis in her late 20s either. She's weighing the options because DI is still an option. Or maybe she'll become a girly girl, join a sorority and play intramurals. Still have a year to decide.
  15. Argentina v Venezuela - linesman pulls out camera from his pocket, takes a pic of Messi, puts camera away. lol
  16. Does anybody have a link to the squad lists? Every time I try to search my computer freezes/
  17. I kind of think of Meireles as a jack of all trades in the middle. He can play the various roles in the middle and has done so admirably with Porto, Portugal, and Liverpool. At Liverpool his attacking capabilities were used more than in Portugal.
  18. The way I read it Lukaku can't play so it's not a matter of Kalou over Lukaku. I get the hostility though. Watching Kalou can be a frustrating prospect at times.
  19. Thanks much and isn't that the truth. You don't wish it on anybody else but you wonder why you have some much "luck". Unfortunately I feel like an expert and not because I stayed at a Holiday Inn (lame commercials in the US). At first my daughter said she was done and wanted to hang up the boots. Now with each milestone the focus has geared toward playing again. "Did you see those sick cleats, I want those when I get back", "That Chelsea training top is sick (the sleeveless), I want that when I get back". The love for the game drives some to keep battling. I'm a soft touch for any player coming back from injury. Not blind though to the fact injuries take their toll and players come back differently. Some good as new, some never the same, some different but still able to play in different ways. C'mon Essien!

  22. He also mentioned how it was deja vu. Isn't that the truth. My daughter had her second ACL surgery the same day as the Bison. I shared the blog with my daughter, her comment "I feel you Essien". While she's not doing physio work 10 am to 5 pm, she is doing PT or massage 5 days a week. It's a grind coming back from ACL surgery. Riding the bike is a milestone. Going up stairs is a milestone. Going down stairs is a milestone. Getting cleared to run is a HUGE milestone and it's not even running. More like a slow controlled walk/skip/jump at the beginning. Daughter is having a scope done in a week to clean out a cyclops lesion (scar tissue) on the first knee so everything will be ok to start "running" end of October. Hope to see them both back out on the pitch playing the game they love.
