I can see him, Mata, Torres linking up well together. Even in the short months he played with Torres, Meireles seemed to understand Torres movement.

He actually can play a through ball and better than any of the other CMs. Whether he replaces or benches Lampard is up to AVB.

Reading some of the different Portugal forums from when Meireles left Porto: Porto was looking to take advantage of Meireles strong showing at the WC and make some money. Teams like Inter, United, Liverpool were interested and Porto took the money and ran. Majority of Porto fans thought Meireles was a good player and were sad to see him go.

I think he's a little underrated or not as bad as most think. AVB does know him and maybe he knows how he can fit him into the glorious midfield he has.

Maybe AVB told him he wasn't going to play much and a move made sense. Don't understand how the loan move makes sense for Chelsea.

I know we still have 70 minutes left but I'm kinda stunned by the lack of inbound movement. Looking at United, City, even Liverpool, most of their activity was done early. I know AVB came in later and that may have been some of the delay but WTF have Chelsea been doing this summer? The youth brought in are promising but they seem more geared to the future than this season. Mata is a great addition but Chelsea need more than 1 addition. I'm still holding out hope in these last 69 minutes that something positive happens.

I'm not being a smart-ass here (maybe a dumb-ass) but you can't do some of the paperwork via fax? Do you actually have to have the player in house by the cutoff? Does the medical have to be done by the cutoff?

Martinez on PVA: Technically he is very gifted, very comfortable in possession and physically he uses his intensity to defend very effectively. He can play left back or left wing back position and without a doubt he's got a phenomenal career ahead of him. We rate Patrick really highly and his professionalism and his personal attributes will be a huge asset to us this season. Think PVA will be in good hands this season.

Martinez does well with young players and he'll probably get a lot of playing time.

I don't understand why Chelsea is getting rid of Yossi but seeing how little he's played so far, doesn't seem he's part of plans. That said, why a loan then? Not like he's getting any younger.
