  1. Villas Boaz may have "only won" the portuguese league and the Europa league but his achievements go much deeper than that. Lets start with his job at Academia, he left his comfort zone under Mourinho, he had a safe and easy job following Mourinho around everywhere and he took a team on that, when he took over in October 2009, they were bottom of the league and without a win, they looked like Portugal's very own Derby County until AVB took them to 11th place safety. outstanding. This year at Porto he has not only won the League and Europa he has broke numerous record in the process Outstading and remember 12 months previously, Porto dropped out of the CL places and looked in terminal decline, the year before AVB took over they were so far behind Benfica it was embarrassing. If AVB follows this season up with a strong run in the CL and another league title the whole of europe will start taking notice properly. Mark my words he will be the greatest manager ever. As for Pep fair play to him for gelling the Barca team together into what they are today but any-one who saw them knew they had what they achieved in them, prior to Pep making them noticed Iniesta and Xavi were the most under-rated players in the world, Messi although raved about alot of people thought Ronaldo and Kaka were better prior to 2008, i know its a clichie but any-one who saw Barca and especially Spain in Euro 2008 knew the Barca players had it in them to reach these heights and fair play to pep for making that work but if he comes here he will need to use the market and his transfer record leaves a lot to be desired .Remeber Rjkard? he won back to back titles and in English rules it would have been 3 (like Pep) but things went stale for him there and since then has got found out, we dont know if the same will happen with Pep. Moving on to Hiddink we will certainly stand a better chance in Europe with Guus around, he could probably out tactic any one in the game (Jose included) but Hiddink's big test will be when we hit a brick wall in the league, will he turn it around before it gets terminal or will he be thinking shit whats going on how do i sort this out?
  2. take McEachran out its a extra added 0 to that
  3. Out of interest with Hiddink incharge am i the only one that fancies a game against Madrid? Hiddink V Jose battle will be thrilling and i honestly believe Guus could do him.
  4. Its our fault for giving them hardly any chances, not just recently but for years. The majority of our reserve and youth cup winning team have the potenital to be some of the best players in europe (in their position) but we never give them a chance to prove it.
  5. oh i was meant to tag blue lion haha, was wondering how you colud edit the football website.
  6. I do think Hilario gets some un fair stick at times, its all stemed from the City game, can you remember the Barca, Liverpool games especially where he was amazing.
  7. Think its safe to say Jim has all but won it now, and (although i didnt vote for you) its fully deserve mate Have to say the nominations were hard and to choose 1 was even harder and there were about 10 users that had a strong case this month.
  8. On league basis during 04/05 and 05/06 we were unstoppable and if it weren't for Steven Hunt's boot it would have been more of the same in 06/07 actually thinking of that i think our squad as a whole peaked in 07/08 and if we flipping kept Jose i still believe we would have won the lot, possibly breaking our previous 95 point record in 04/05. Since 08/09 i think our great side of recent times have declined and despite the double and bar our record breaking scoring couple of months in April/May 2010 i think it has shown in general. Im grateful for the League titles ive seen as a Chelsea fan because i didn't expect to see even one but thinking how many more we could have won and even if we kept Jose the CL would have been safely in the bag by now does frustrate me.
  9. Can i just say when i went to Bulgaria last summer, we were by far the most popular english club there, both sports shop's in Vratsa were littered with Chelsea geer i thought i was actually in west london, dont know about the rest of the country but we were sure loved in that town.
  10. If you done this on a all fans football forum you would have other fans barrading you with childish comments within seconds, good article never the less tho Big clubs is not always dependent on trophies, sometimes it can be very misleading, Rangers are considered a big club because they have 52 titles, if they played in English football id be surprised if they even had 5 and if we played in Scotland we'd have a huge number and would have probably one the vast majority of titles since 95 if not all of them. History is NOT dependent on trophies more tradition, no-one seems to shut up about West Ham's history despite the fact the've never won the league but say we have none even tho pre-Roman or even Bates and Harding we had more than West Ham (even tho bar the thuggery side i cant see how there bigger than us) Rotherham have never won a trophy but id love to see you tell the chuckle brothers that they have no history. I hate it when we get slated for "lack of youth products" in the last decade as proof our academy's rubbish, so they remember that we produced probably the best forward ever to grace English football? (Jimmy Greaves). Last decade we have fallen short but we have produced great players before and even know we have a fair few that are in playing in the prem or have in the last year or so or a top euro league (Beckford, Cork, C.Cole, Mancienne etc...)
  11. It dont make sense him resigning if he didnt have another job lined up but then Villa could be saying that to ease the media scrutiny. Relieved Houllier stepped down, he would be taking an pointless health risk carrying on. Henrique Hiddink did well with his tactics in the second half but after winning away 3-1 we should never in a millions years have even given Liverpool a glimmer, Essien and Mikel should both have played DM and if it came down to it just shut up shop and play for the 0-0, it must frustrate Liverpool fans tho they came out of the blocks firing if they did that at home to the likes of West Ham they would have surely walked the league that season that and if Rafa kept his gob shut.
  12. We need back up, what if Cech gets injured in September and we end up stuck with Turnbull till January? because i can tell you i will probaly be in hospital with a heart attack if i have to watch him for 5 months.
  13. Massive game for me away to Sinised saturday then at home to Arton tuesday, going to be a pair of massive test's for me. If i could pick up 4 points out of them 2 it will be fantastic.
  14. Exactly what i mean, Hahnemann for 1 year, maybe 2 then Delac will be ready.
  15. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1336604/Chelsea-target-David-Luiz-prefer-Manchester-City-move.html
  16. David Luiz deal was on and off for the best part of a year, Alex was on and off for the best part of 4 years, Robinho deal was on until 10pm on deadline day. Apparently David Luiz wanted to go to City over us, apparently Ronaldinho vowed he will never go to Chelsea in 2006 especially under Mourinho, then in 2007 he was trying to force a move then in 2008 was begging to go to Chelsea when Scolari took over. Brazilians and transfers = long, messy saga.
  17. Got high hopes of a Fernando and Danny partnership but while they mayor may not finish there Chelsea career as (statistically) better players than Jimmy and EIdur i cant see them being a better partnership its true what Jimmy said there will not be a better one for a long long time.
  18. and as ive said he will always be loved by the blues faithful but eventually we will hit some bad form under Guus if he comes back permanently and how do you know he wont be walking around thinking shit how do i get their form back? something which will ruin the memories we have off his first reign, i dont want him back for that reason, same with Jose. In a way i also wish Carlo walked out after winning the double, same with Malouda aswell.
  19. Hiddink's spell was great but remember it was merely 3 months, he seems to have saviour status on this forum at the moment but how do you know if we hit a brick wall under Guus he wont be walking around wondering what to do? Guus is a great man and will always be loved by the blues fauthfull but if you think were be ruling English football for his whole tenure you might be in for a shock.
  20. WIth Hilario almost certainly going, Delac not ready and Turnbull quite frankly not good enough maybe we should make a sneaky attempt to get him to deputise Cech until Delac's ready now he has got released by Wolves. He is experienced aswell as proven premier league quality, hardly ever makes mistakes, for a short term number 2 we could do a LOT worse. If Cech gets injured who would you be more comfortable in goal out of him and Turnbull? He wont get in ahead of Cech but would be a fantastic short term no2, thoughts?
  21. Looks like he has just won the biggest hypocrite of the decade award.
  22. As current member of the month (and thanks again for all who voted) its my job to nominate for my successor and here are my choices. 1. Me - Just Joking Now the real choices Blue Lion Alex really helps keep this forum going with the prediction league, brilliant match review's amoungst many other things, Talk Chelsea will be a much poorer place without him. Jim Spent hours of hard work getting the forum back after we got hacked and gave up his Saturday night in the process, he may not post as much as others but his contribution to the admin side of things is hugely under-estimated. LDN Blue His post a day average speaks for itself, his contributions this month has been as high as any month and always add's to a debate and starts really good threads. Mad Max Another massive contributor of the forum, Jaimin has been as active as any-one this month and i can count the threads i have not seen him comment in on my left hand. Steve As Alex said last month, despite being as far away from his home land as is humanly possible and with limited access he has still managed to use these forums regally and also has been taking some pictures at the games for us to all see. Another active month for Steve. Fulham Broadway Since ive joined the forum broadway has been more active this month than any month, joining in on the banter and not afraid to get his own point across at the same time. Voting will close on the 8th June at 5pm.
  23. Henry and Bergkamp took time to get it right where-as Jimmy and Eidur clicked striaght away, it had to be something special to keep Zola on the bench. Those 2 (along with Cudicini) really saved our ass in 01/02, the rest were pretty average even Zola has his worse season with us (despite scoring one of the goals of the decade). What i loved the most about these 2 is they even when they were playing there bad games they were still sweating blood and tears for the cause which is more than can be said for Malouda and Anelka. Henry, Bergkamp and Yorke, Cole had dream service Jimmy and Eidur that season had off form midfielders behind them and there goal tally in 01/02 combined stood up to both there best goal returns. That is to me why they were the best partnership and still aint been surpased..
