It situations like this where we could do with having Jose back.
-
Funny thing is i thought he was decent when he came on, not enough tho if this is his last appearance it won't be a second too soon.
-
I do wonder what Jose will do if he gets control of this team. Torres will be out of the door, another forward will come in (possibly Lukaku returning from loan) and he will do a Drogba-Crespo with him and Ba. He will probably make someone like Feruz or Bamford third choice. Hazard with his ever improving defensive work will be a nailed on starter on the left/right, he might go back to 4-3-3 with Mata the top of that three, Ramires behind and defensive midfielder most probably will be signed. Luiz will be fine tuned into the world class defender we know he can be. The one who might be in a bit of trouble is Oscar. Moses will probably be seen as the new Duff. I imagine he will sign a left/right winger also. With a few additions he will have us right up there again. But will he come back?

Who says Mourinho will want to keep him? we saw what he did to Carvalho.

He needs to do it in two world cups like Pele did.

Torres got nothing but top support for two years of utter shite, as far as im concerned he should have got jeered when he made the "he didnt care" comments. Rafa however i do agree with, i just can't understand all this, because he made comments in the past, well Moyes has done the same so it will be interesting to see if he gets the same should Roman go insane and appoint him.
-
How about sign him and put him on a Courtois style loan programme?

No (yet).

Mourinho if not keep Rafa, ditching a high profile manager for a mid table miracle man is lunacy. Moyes has worked wonders at Everton, but Roy worked wonders at Fulham, Big Sam worked wonders at Bolton, Hughes worked wonders at Blackburn and we all know what happened when they got big jobs. What has Moyes done different (apart from stay at this job longer) to suggest he will go any different from those three? If Moyes get's the job, he will probably go the same way as Roy or Sam, fail, get another job and rebuild the reputation he had before (over achieving at clubs with limited budgets).

There is a reason his username is bitee, he gets enough of them here.

Moyes is the master of making a team with unlimited funds and not huge expectation's punch above their weight. Sam Allardyce did the same at Bolton to just as good effect as Moyes, if not better, does that mean if Big Sam remained at Bolton to this day his name will be in the frame?

I was basically about to say the same thing. He was like a footballing air traffic controller.

Regarding Rafa's subs, when was the last time we had a manager good at that? RDM and AVB weren't much cop at it, Carlo was horrendous when it came to trying to change a game from the bench but never got half the stick Rafa got. Regarding his worst start as a manager for Roman. Who else had Terry out for all bar 20 minutes of their first 16 games? Apart from AVB and RDM, every manager under Roman has had a better and more balanced team to work with. Its no coincidence AVB and Rafa are bottom of this particular table. If he had this start with one of our 04-09 squad's fair enough, but you can't compare his start to manager's who took over this team at their peak.

This is a deceiving performance, a bit like the Liverpool one. It looked on the face of it he did ok (well for his standards anyway), but look at it closely the amount of turnover's he concedes is horrific.
-
I like his attitude and his last ditch challenges are top class, but players can get around him so easy at times, that dummy Gibbs sold him
-
He, like the rest of the team, were quiet in the second half, but am i the only one who thought he was unbelievable in the first? A very very promising glimpse of what's to come from him.
-
So we win against our local and competitive rivals at home and all we can do is slagg is the manager off Regarding the change of the tide in the second half, it's nothing new, Arsenal had nothing to lose, there has been many times this has happened before Rafa and will do after. The example that comes in the top of my head is Marseille at home under Carlo when we were 2-0 up at half time and the French side swarmed all over us in the second half. Infact the same fixture (Arsenal at home) in the double season springs to mind too. United in Jose first match for us if you want a further back example. With the three fixtures we have had in the last week i would have took seven points, the only thing is i would have naturally assumed the dropped points would have come today or at The Britannia, but 7 points is 7 points. I watched Torres closely today and i think the team have given up on him, i remember a time we counter attacked in the second half, Ramires and Torres against two Arsenal defenders and Rami opted to try and go alone instead of playing it to Fernando. Hazard in the first half, fucking hell, a very delightful glimpse of what is to come for us. I said at the start of the season 3rd place with genuine positive signs for the future will be a good season for us, and it's so far so good on both counts, one of the domestic cups would be a nice bonus too.

@, It was my way of implying who i thought was actually in charge in 07/08. @zolayes your right ill probably put Ranieri up a bit thinking again.

In terms of what they contributed 1. Mourinho 2. Ancelotti 3. Di Matteo 4. Hiddink 5. Clarke 6. Ranieri 7. AVB 8. Scolari Ill judge Rafa on the scale when he leaves.

Be careful what you wish for, something 'different' will see Torres occupied in the lineup somehow.
-
With the midfield we have he doesn't need to play that well, just do the basics right.
-
AVB and Robbie aside, all those managers had superior squad's. Jose and Claudio had shitloads to spend on whoever they wanted, Avram, Phil, Hiddink and Carlo inherited the squad in the peak cycle. Rafa had neither of those luxury's. Jose, as far as i am aware, had the worst end out of all the managers. Brendan Rodgers oversaw Liverpool's worst league start for over 100 years, does that make him the worst Pool manager in that period?
