A lot of United fans i know were going mental with him in his first few season's, one trick pony, no end product, why do we have him when Chelsea got Robben, some of the nicer stuff.
-
The myth Moyes worked miracles at Everton is getting weaker by the minute.
-
I am 99% sure he will be great for us, he is determined and has the right mentality, which as Frank showed will get you very far. I do personally believe here and now it would have been a big ask for him to carry us in a title race, ofcourse i could be wrong but it's how i see it personally.
-
Ronaldo got benched at the start of his United career while inferior players were getting fielded in his place, maybe if Fergie sent him on loan programme's like this one, he would have ascended even quicker than he did.
-
I do understand what your saying but there is more too it than just putting him as our '#1 and pining all our season hopes on him, Chalobah in theory looks a solution to our pivot problems, but in reality he won't be for a few years. It will be different under Jose, if Lukaku shows this season and back at Chelsea next season why he should be playing, he will play whether we have Torres and Ba or Cavani and Falcao. I mean, Jose played Huth a fair bit when we had Terry, Carvalho and Gallas, and Huth was a donkey

Which top club in Europe on par or better than us will guarentee him a number one spot? United won't, City won't, Arsenal won't, Tottenham won't, not even Liverpool will. Taking it abroad Barca, Real, Leti, Dortmund, Munich, Juve, PSG and Monaco won't either. If he goes somewhere were he is guaranteed numero uno permanently, then Everton is probably as good as it will get for him. He looks like he has genuine ambition's to make it at the top and he will keep going and working hard until he does, just like Lampard did, i have no doubt he will be a great striker for us in the future.
-
I was referring to when you said if we buy a striker in January. If Lukaku see's that as an excuse to hand in a transfer request then quite frankly, he has the wrong mentality. The difference between Lukaku and our other forwards is that the others are on their last legs, they are past their best, while Lukaku needs to be carefully nurtured, their was a choice to loan him to a top 6/7 side were he will play every single game, or stay with us where he will get his fair share of play but is it fair to ask a 20 year old to come from rotating with Shane Long at West Brom to being the main forward at a club looking to win the lot? Being numero uno at Everton will prepare him a lot more for the pressure of being the same here, if he gets loaned out again next season i will jump onto your side off the fence, but Everton was a fantastic loan and i don't believe we were planning on loaning him out until Martinez came along.
-
He is going to have to fight to get in the team regardless, we are not going to hand him a place because he is young and has potential. Terry, Lampard and Drogba have had successful Chelsea career's because they worked hard and fought off competition (Terry and Lampard especially in the face of the glux of superstar signing's in 2003), Romelu will have to do the same.
-
This will be a genius move for us in the long run. Martinez has as good as confirmed he will start every match when fit and he will come back a much better player than he would have been playing here week in week out.
-
Yes and was reduced to a much lesser role because he coudn't play 3 times a week.
-
Put him on ignore, im sure he is ok in real life but he is annoying as hell on here. Although having said that his posts get quoted more than any, so it's renders that system irrelevant.
-
Spot on, Lampard could have easily put his head down in 2003 when the galaxy of stars were coming through the door, but he wasn't getting shafted, he made sure of that, if KDB wants a future here, he has to do the same. If he is letting the competition get to him, then being a big fish in a small pond like at Werder is the best it's going to get for him This is dog eat dog, survival of the fittest, Drogba came out the other side when we brought back Crespo then signed Sheva and Anelka, Lampard has seen of competition down the years to be where he is, Terry had to compete with Carvalho and Gallas in his peak years. Mata looks like he has forced his way back in though hard work, KDB should take their example's and if he wants to make it here or at any top club has to.
-
It was more of a tongue in cheek comment. But speaking of Schurrle, if he was in a similar position no one would bat an eyelid. He would still face a fight in Dortmund regardless, Kiopp wouldn't stand for under performing players if he wasn't playing well.
-
United fans have been calling for Giggs to retire for as long as i can remember. If he carries on much longer he is in serious danger of doing damage to his legend tag.
-
Jesus wept, some of the comment here are . We are not a youth charity, if KDB plays it's because he deserves to on merit, not because he is a young player, Jose is not going to play him because some supporters have a fetish of the average age of the starting Xl being as young and inexperienced as possible. You think he would walk in to Dortmund's team with Reus, Mikhitaryan and Blaszczyowski around? KDB will get a game soon, and it's up to him to 'do a Mata' and show Jose he deserves a place, not the other way round. This is Chelsea FC not Kevin De Bruyne FC

Any other player who has a mini run of form after god knows how much shite we would not be talking about a resurgence. For aslong as he plays for Chelsea i will hope upon hope he can find his old form back, because if he does we will benefit, but how many false dawns have we had with him before? It literally takes one little knock and he is back in his shell. If it was Sturridge or Kalou yesterday who had the same performance, they wouldn't have got praised for it, they would have got abused for missing an easy chance and for getting themself's sent off, and some say that the "abuse" Torres get's is shocking, unreal!!!
-
One thing i have learned this season beyond any doubt, is that there is far too much putting player before club going on.
-
Looks like i have got i badly wrong with Hull, Bolton and Yeovil but my Fulham, Sunderland and City prediction's seem to be following though so far.
-
When was the last time his acutal goal was discussed in this thread, instead of going over old wounds?
-
While his performance was good on Saturday their needs to be a little bit of perspective on things. It's only his 2nd match in his CFC career he has looked like a £50m player, if he can keep up this form till Christmas then great, but im not counting any chickens after the false dawns of the last two and a half years, Ronaldo had a stinker against Leti last weekend, doesn't mean he's going to have many more.
-
Allen was brought by Rodgers. I look at their team and for me i still think they are miles behind the top 5, they or Everton may get 5th if one has an absolute shocker but i just can't see them getting 4th.
-
They didn't have the European distractions under Kenny and look what happened. Im surprised that the general consensus is that Liverpool will finish above Everton, it's forgotten that Everton have been the numero uno in Merseyside for the last two season's.
-
To an extent you are right, but sometimes there is exceptions. Drogba (im not saying Giroud will be anywhere near as good as him btw) had a similar goal ratio in his opening two season's at Chelsea, but would you have swapped him for Van Nisseroy?
-
He's always been a very good player even before he started scoring, next time you see Arsenal watch him closely, his movement has defenders tripping over themself's. Funny you mention Ramsey, him in our pivot would be quite handy right now. And its Everton that should be on your list, they are the top 6 team, not Liverpool
-
Sometimes things don't work out at certain clubs. Look at Damien Duff, brilliant for Chelsea and Blackburn, shit for Newcastle then he signed for Fulham and all off a sudden his Chelsea/Blackburn form re-emerged. Should he have got played ahead of Torres last season? yes, would he have done better? almost certainly. Is he good enough for a team challenging for the title? im not so sure. If we want to kick ourself's about one forward, it should be Giroud, he turned us down for Arsenal because they had Wenger and we had Robbie, he would have been perfect for our system.
