The Remy thing is so overplayed, he hasn't been anywhere near as poorly treated as made out. Despite this running myth that he kept getting cruelly cast aside in favour of Drogba, Loic started more games than the Ivorian when Costa was out injured and it was a straight fight between those two, in fact this season despite all the talk of Falcao jumping ahead of him, Remy's started both times its been a choice between him and Radamel. Remy is a decent squad player like Ba, both do Allright when they play but both have flaws (especially tactically) that will prevent them being #1 at top club, I geuinenly don't understand why there's a meltdown every time he doesn't play, its the equivalent of United/Madrid fans getting upset any time Hernandez wasn't picked.

Our defence was still awful with Terry in it, there's something fundamentally wrong that reinstating Terry or even dropping Ivanovic isn't going to sort.
-
Brana wasn't but Lampard and Malouda were awful and got selected when fit, he is a massive fan of experience (even chose Paulo at CB over Bruma) and no way would he drop Ivan for Baba if he didn't drop those two in 10/11.

When the team are on form yes, the main point is that Mata alone wouldn't hace prevented this shitstorm, Pedro is struggling in this team right now, as is Eden and both are better than Mata.
-
Luis yes, Lukaku maybe as number two but I think the stick Costa is getting is way overboard, even in a bad run like at the Moment he has had two brilliant games at WBA and Porto. Mata probably right now but this time last year he was every bit as bad as Cesc is now. Ryan I've never been convinced as a #1 but people are entitled to an opinion, KDB depends on who is in CM, him and Cesc in the same team would be tragic off the ball. If I'm honest out of all the players we have sold the one I regret the most is Danny, although Costa has significantly eased that pain.

There was a lot of complaint about the lack of balance in the squad, and we were losing the identity we were so successful with circa 04-10.But the main point i was making is when we go on shit runs people always think if we had one of our ex players still here everything will be better, despite them being here during equally if not worse runs of form, especially Juan.
-
Doesn't that always happen? A bad run of form and suddenly we would be so much better if the Exs where still around. I mean KDB and Lukaku never really played for us but Mata was in the squad under AVB when we won like 3 league games in as many months and In 12/13 when we won twice in twelve games and suffered our worst run of league results for 13 years, so the idea that him being here would turn our defeats into draws and draws into wins is pure fantasy. Just like in 10/11 when we went to shit some people thought it wouldn't be so bad if Ballack and Deco stayed, the same two that were here when we lost the plot under Scolari.
-
What is funny Is one of the reasons for the calls are he won't drop Ivan and Cesc yet some of the same people want Ancelotti back. Ivan and Cesc would be even more undroppable under Carlo than they are now.
-
Well wasn't supporters in outrage over Di Matteos sacking after a CL win? Yet we should sack Jose after a PL?And other top clubs in Europe? Van Gaal survived till March in his season with Munich in 10/11, United stuck with Moyes etc. Furthermore if this shows Roman lost his ruthless streak then it went in 10/11 as Ancelotti gave him every reason to sack him and more during the winter months and he didn't, not to mention he stuck by AVB until the situation became completely untenable and even then he blamed the players forgiving him no choice.
-
Unfortunently its looking atm that he isn't going to be here long term, I'll still have hope he can turn it around but IN reality who is a long term manager these days? Van Gaal certainly isn't, Ancelottis Milan stagnated badly after a few seasons despite a CL win and let's not even get started on his second season here, Pep admitted he would have had to leave Barca after a few season's because players would tire of his methods and Dortmund look rejuvenated since Klopp resigned. Its not just Mourinho, most managers struggle after a while, its just Mou that gets bashed by it for some reason.
-
Thankyou, thought I was going mad.
-
He hasn't been at his best so far, but even in the midst of it he has had two brilliant displays tonight and at WBA and decent displays vs Arsenal and Swansea. We have many troubles in this squad right now but Costa isn't one of them.
-
I'm not for a second saying Drogba and Cech didn't have an infulence in the dressing room but its worth remembering they were both here when we went on relegation form esque runs like this in 10/11 and 11/12.
-
He's useless when he doesn't score Remarkably quiet this thread when he does well.
-
Are you seriously suggesting he won't score more than 10? Abother grass is greener post

Two and a half months, hopefully it flies by.

FaCup ? And in sure the 3-5-2 was ditched long before Christmas after trey lost at The Emirates but I could be wrong. When I saw him at Pool u wasn't impressed at all and along with almost every Liverpool fan saying he was shocking doesn't bode well, you cite the lack of minutes, well it was enough for us to write off Cuadrado. And with Bertrand, imho I think he is good at containing fast wingers on the most part like say Navas, but struggles against tricky players like Willian, I'm not saying he is a bad player, far from it, but he isn't this flawless defensively that is often portrayed.
-
Exactly, pre season, it means absolutely nothing, Maarko Marin shone in pre season, also Liverpool reverted away from 3-5-2 in the second half and he was still awful when given chances, some players are better a mid table, nothing wrong with That. And Bertrand has one big weakness, he lets crosses into the box easily, Ivan gets mullered for that but Bertrand gets away with It.
-
Bosingwa played in the CL final, we were massive underdogs for a reason, out of everyone who played that night none would get in our current team, maybe Mata under a different manager. Meireles was brilliant in Barca harassing Iniesta and Xavi, should we have kept him too? Moses wasaverage for the most part and abysmal at Liverpool at a team that was perfectly set us for attacking mids.
-
Halliday for Bradford put a 10/10 vs us in the FA Cup last season. Why did we let him go to Rangers?Fuck sake.
-
Exactly, its quite funny the rewriting of history when it comes to Carlos spell here, the second season was beyond woeful, people cite second place, 71 points won't get top 4 most season's. Also not to mention the same people wanting Mou sacked calling for Carlo or Klopp, one went on a run for us much worse than this andthe other was bottom of the league for a lot of last season.
-
I remember when Mou returned and someone asked me what would happen if he hada run like AVBs last days and I said it will be different because he has a track record and AVB didn't. Too early to be waving the white flag, sacking Jose could end up in another manager merry go round,he has enough credit in the bank to get a little bit of leeway.
-
That's true, its not always a bad thing, We can't expect everyone to be team carriers, some player just play their best when the tteam is on song, Malouda and Sterling two other examples.
-
I think Remy will get the nod more from the off, so far we have only really seen both off the bench and Falcao has got preffered I'm guessing because of his chemistry with Costa. I think it will be a similar situation last season with Remy/Drogba, where Drogba was preffered off the bench more often to give us the chance to go more direct and Remy was more often than not chosen to start when Diego was injured/rested and it was a straight choice between those two.
