Yeah, but what if Costa converted the penalty at Anfield or Hazard didn't miss those two sitters at White Hart Lane? Swings and roundabouts.
-
Spurs would suit him if Poch is going three at the back. He could play LCB with Rose at wing back.
-
Sometimes i wonder if we could draw 0-0, have the best performance ever aside from the finishing (like the Everton game but all 5 attempts were saved) and people would still moan about how shit we played.
-
Apparently Conte's only condition before coming was that Hazard stayed no matter what.
-
Where would he fit in at this current setup? Wingback? No way, he wasn't great going forward for the standard of a fullback, as a wingback he will be painful, Furthermore if the preference for Kante-Matic and the Bakayoko rumours are anything to go by we are basing the defensive solidarity on the back 3 and CM 2, meaning the wingback's we be looked at more for what they offer going forward than backwards. I don't think Alonso is particularly great nor am i his biggest fan but he is a million times more suited to wingback than Bertrand will ever be. LCB is the one position he could work in a similar way to Azpi has on the other side of the 3, but that brings 2 issue's. Firstly being that would finish Andreas chances here and secondly Azpi has RCB under lock and key until he declines, so could we really get away with playing just one natural CB? So like i said factoring the above in re signing Bertrand would be pointless and a waste of resources.
-
Would be a totally illogical signing on every single level.
-
If we sign him and keep Hazard then brilliant, Hazard out and Sanchez in would be underwhelming and a step down in my opinion. Alexis is a very good player but i honestly believe just how good he is is being overplayed due to being the ray of hope in a team all over the shop, a bit like Mata under AVB.

If we win and Spurs don't, a draw against City will all but finish it.

Drogba was a big game player in cup finals and no one will probably match his record in them, Costa however is a bigger flat track bully and that's why his record as a lead striker at big clubs is 2 titles in 3 years and likely to be 3 in 4 very soon. Drogba only ever won 1 title being the main man up top (04/05 and 05/06 he shared the role with Eidur then Crespo). Yes he's got a lot to do as it stands to match Drogba, but ten years ago Didier had a lot to do to match Hasselbaink. 4 in 10 isn't the most disastrous run in the world, and I'm sure he did but I can't recall Torres ever hitting the woodwork. We need another striker to compete with him, but id be careful about selling him despite his flaws.
-
Drogba didnt fight with his manager? Scolari. Anyway, i wouldn't take any "fight" a player has with Conte seriously, I mean we are talking about the same man who called Buffon a halfwit. Point is Costa may have wanted to leave and didn't get what he wanted, yet there was no problem in the first half of the season and even since China gate when hes supposedly been awful hes still scored 3 in 6 and hit the woodwork I think twice (I know for sure vs Arsenal but swear there was another time too). If Torres had a run like that the be a national holiday declaring him back to his best
-
Disgraceful in what sense? Because he wanted to leave? Drogba wanted to leave at few times, even Lampard was tempted by Inter.
-
One each, Hiddink gave more to Kenedy, RLC and Traore.
-
Carlo ignored a young, hungry Sturridge and kept playing the stagnant Anelkalouda.
-
The club have numerous access to data and performance stats as well as seeing these lads in training. If they need to shove them in the first team to work out if they are good enough or not they shouldn't be coaching at this club.
-
I tend not to look past a few years when it comes to players, aside from Terry our longest serving player is Cahill then Eden. I'm convinced Lukaku will never be anything more than a very good PL scorer so yeah he will score goals for United but I'm not convinced he will be what they need to compete at home and abroad.
-
The Mata thread only really got salty when we were shot last season, view his thread in 14/15 and not one person was that bothered. Sturridge was a similar song, as soon as Costa came in his thread stopped getting bumped every time he scored. If we are challenging for top honours under Conte consistently I doubt many people will give a flying fuck and we shouldn't spend £70m on someone who isn't worth the money just because United can't have him. So did Drogba, ultimately Costa is proven title winning pedigree at the top level, Lukaku isn't. He's a good PL scorer but so far that's it. If we were to loseDiego I would rather spend big on Icardi or Mbappe than Lukaku.

That's a good shout actually, Hiddink mark one was up there with Jose mark one and Conte in terms of the confidence and assurance he brought us, however with the spell only being 4 months he can't really be compared to Jose and soon to be Conte overall.
-
No we should keep Diego Costa because he has fired us to one PL title and is close to doing so another.
-
That's what goes over a lot of heads, i remember months ago i was having this debate with someone about Zouma. I was saying he wouldn't fit into Conte's system because we are trying to play out of the back and technical play is Kurt's biggest weakness and he just kept hitting me with "he's young give him time" like Zouma was going to turn into Bonucci if we played him and let him grow
-
If you factor in the manager into the equation then this is the best team we have had outside of Jose's mark one sides, in my opinion.
-
While we have Kante there is no real need for a 3 man midfield, if anything that will get in his way!!
-
He loves his ego more, he is crazy stubborn, i read once that Fergie use to always value his coaching staff and there insight while Wenger just wanted yes men.
-
Although i have high hopes for Tammy, what if we focused on Kakuta's development instead of signing Hazard? Just putting it out there.
-
I would say that was more Eto'o than Torres tbh.
-
Was there a worse striker in the league? I mean when i look at Gestede for example he is woeful but atleast he has some use as he's good in the air, what did Torres bring?
