The thing is with Willian is people say he's inconsistent when he isn't, he's super consistent in terms of playing at his true level. That's why people think he's plays better the worse the team get, in my eyes he wasn't any better in 15/16 than he was in the two title winning season's either side he just stood out because of how bad thing's got with the squad (and was having a free kick purple patch).

Oh come on, Drogba use to have man hugs with Carragher in the middle of bitter battles at Anfield.

I like this for these reason's. 1. He's got a strong mentality, led Leicester in a title race and delivered the goods in the CL knockout stages. 2. He would be a great alternative to Morata and i'm truly not big on Michy as a lone striker at-all tbh. Imagine if we brought Vardy on vs Spurs while they were committing men forward? They would have probably reverted back ten yards knowing one big punt over the top could have ended them. 3. He's a good safety net in case Morata needs time to adjust. 4. Would give us the depth (if Michy stays) to play 2 up front.

£50m on two dodgy keepers, £80m on two substandard right backs, £50m on Stones, can't shift expensive flops like Bony and Delph because they wildly overpaid for them in wages and fee's. A lot on here seem to wish we had City's transfer policy, can i ask, why? I'm not saying our's is perfect, far from it, but i would be truly embarrassed with those stats above.

It's a sign that United have declined when all they have to gloat about is how "big" they are. We never heard that nonsense during Fergie's era now players and fans won't shut up about how "huge" they are. They are officially like Liverpool.

When he's played for Chelsea he never imposed himself on a game even close to enough. He movement was decent when the team had the ball, but didn't do enough when he had it and was a complete liability off it. His best performances for us came vs league one opposition in the cup's, which made me think he found his level, few more performances like Saturday would make me re-evaluate however.

I will never be happier to be proved wrong than if i am in Ruben's case. The idea of him his great, it's just what's been put into practice i haven't been a fan off so far.

Cavani scores an insane amount but it's still widely accepted his finishing is a issue. Didn't Suarez score nearly score 1 a game in 13/14 tho? Inflating that stat. Upto then it was a constant debate how good he was and in fact, when he was (weakly) linked with us in 2013 when he had his infamous release clause that Arsenal "met", more didn't want him here than did.
-
Okay, borderline was pushing it, but Bakayoko and Morata are both players with serious scope for improvement and players that could foreseeable get there. Suarez upto his last season at Liverpool was a insanely talented player but was quite erratic and wasteful which stopped him (and his team) reaching the next level. Morata, while I'm not saying he will grow to that status, is arriving as a hugely talented forward with rough edges. His mentality is top notch and when you have that, you are half way there (providing you have the talent, of course). Re Baka, well Makelele didn't say what he said for no reason, he in time could develop into a big player. Unfortunately we can't/won't shop in the market which allows proven world class ready made players, we have to get players who "could" get there. If someone said Azpi would grow to a bear perfect defender (in terms of pure defending) when we signed him said person would have got laughed at. Drogba, Cech, Lampard were signed with everything to prove and they did.

What a total pass no matter what? If he starts doing what Jose and to a lesser extent Carlo did and keeps screwing up tactically, never dropping out of form players and watching gormlessly while we are dropping points left, right and centre then he cannot hide behind the board in anyway shape or form. If for argument sake worse comes to the worse and we sign no more players this summer and he uses his managerial repertoire to get us the best finish humanly possible (ie what he's paid millions a year to do), then yes we can give him a free pass under those circumstances, even if said position was outside the top four.
-
@Styles raises a solid point re the blame game tho doesn't he? Conte can't actually lose this season, even if he has a "Mourinho season" everyone will spin the narrative that's it's because of the board or the players "downing tools", possibly both!!!! I don't think Conte will go the same way as Mourinho and i think he will last the season minimum but he is not blameless for the position we find ourselves in right now and i could be the chief member of the board and that would NOT excuse being 3-0 down to Burnley at half time.
-
He's lost a fullback key to his plans and hasn't as of yet been given anyone. He has hinted a few times that he needs depth to maintain the season they have had plus compete in Europe, so far Levy hasn't delivered yet Poch is in a relatively happy state of mind. Klopp identified two players to truly elevate Liverpool into title challengers and hasn't got either, in a similar situation we would have been blasting the board left, right and centre. In terms of player recruitment we have done better than those two, we have provided Conte with three players he wanted, two of which borderline world class, so that alone makes his childish antics laughable. Yes the depth isn't great at the minute to say the least but our injured players will return at some point and i'm sure wwe will sign a player or two before deadline day.

Two thing's im clinging onto. 1. That side isn't as weak as the one that managed to win at Anfield in 2014 against the odds. 2. Im sure even our depleted side are better than Levekusen when they beat Spurs at Wembley. Other than that im struggling, reckon we can recall the poltergeist who kept goal with Cech for the 2012 CL win?
-
I would say it would be more reminiscent of the 2-0 at Anfield a few month's later given we were even more depleted for that game than we will be next Sunday.
-
If he has behaved the way is being reported then he deserves his share of the flak for the the current situation. Klopp and Poch have been "screwed over" by their clubs board aswell but you don't see them going around behaving like school kids.
-
Im not expecting him to be amazing, but he conceded a turnover almost everytime he went near the ball and that was the main reason we couldn't sustain any real attacking momentum until Alvaro came on. I know it's only one game but the difference i felt when he came on was almost as big as the Torres/Costa difference.
-
Bit misleading, only 6 departees were part of the first team squad and 4 have been replaced.
-
I don't understand, last four years we made bad signings late in August once and good signing's 3 times. Why do you think it will be like the one time instead of the three?
-
Defiantly, but Spurs (our closest challengers) look set to lose both there first choice fullback's (and Fortress WHL) which is an even bigger blow. City granted have strengthened significantly but i don't think the other 3 have done enough (so far) to close the gap despite us losing Costa. I think we are going out for Sandro, and if we can't we will then go for an Alonso esque signing, likely Cancelo.
-
We may not have had a great window, but as it stands only City have done enough to overtake us.
-
It has happened once in how many year's? Why is it more likely to be another Papy/Hector end of window as opposed to another Alonso/Luiz, Willian or Remy type?
-
Although you exaggerated for effect i don't believe that atall. The reason he held so firm with Modric is due to what a huge gamechanger it would have been, Modric is one of the best CM's in the world and by himself would have elevated us up a level like Hazard has done. As good as he is Rose isn't the same type and if a deals right for all parties something could happen.
-
I'd go even further and say all with the debatable exception of Carlo should have been done sooner. I don't class Jose mark 1 as a sacking but with the benefit of hindsight (ie it being proven beyond doubt how unsuitable he is long term) the right call was made and should have been made in the summer of 2007.
-
Which manager's have been sacked solely because of what the board did?
