Word is Kepa was wanted by Sarri at Napoli and he suits his football. If we just brought in a keeper because we needed one i imagine Butland would have come in at a cheaper price. Ten Hag like Henrique said would be ideal, but I can see him having most of Europe after him especially if he wins the CL. Failing that it has to be someone that has the football principles of attacking, high press and play out of the back (I don't follow general football as much as I use too so can't give a wide variety of names I'd have been able to if asked a similar question in 2012). We are unlikely to be catching City and Liverpool in the next year or two so the priority has to be building a pathway to do so eventually, so with that in mind an appointment similar to City's with Pellegrini (I know he won the league but the whole purpose of his appointment was to lay the foundations for Pep/bigger things) won't be the worst thing in the world.

Yeah my bad I miscounted but at the same time I forgot Pulisic, who is another player more suited to a high energy proactive game (nicking the ball high up is his best attribute from what I've seen).
-
Kepa. He is not the type of keeper for pragmatic tactics.
-
Even if we sack Sarri it's absolutely vital we carry on with the possession based high pressing style. Not only is it more in tune with the modern day way, we committed nearly £140m on two players suited to that style already.

If he's so good at motivating players why do Arsenal have relegation form away? Why did he not win a single away game in his last season at Seville? Why did his Paris perform the biggest ever bottlejob?
-
By that logic any rational person would have expected us to get a result at Anfield as we went into the game unbeaten in 7 years there.

You can't compare Moyes with Conte but you definitely can AVB, the latter of whom got a job at Spurs months after leaving us.Also re Jose despite his history i highly doubt another top club would have appointed him if he pulled a 15/16 elsewhere, LVG had 7 titles and a CL ti his name but wasn't again touched with a bargepole post United. The stigma about the players being the problem area (true to an extent but they certainly aren't the main cause like the media claim) has led to this job being a free hit in terms of reputation risk, for another example if us sacking Sarri coincides with Pochettino finally going to a club that matches his ambitions i could quite easily see Maurizio heading Spurs, but if Emery cocks up at Arsenal he'll never get a similar level job.

I think it's the opposite, the managers get little blame when things go wrong here but United the manager gets the flak, that's why all our sacked manager's can walk into other high profile jobs and sacked United one's can't.
-
Not atall, just this constant hyping of every single one of our opponents is ridiculous. There's a difference between being cautious and totally writing of our chances against a team below us who are on their worst run of form for generations.
-
Were about to play them so that means they're as good as Peps Barca on here.
-
Wait, so we've got no chance against an spectacularly out of form team below us in the table? I swear we could play Torres on his own and some of you would try and pass us off as underdogs
-
Those United players you've mentioned all make Willian look as consistent as Lampard.
-
The "we are shit and our rivals are amazing" thing has always been a big trend on here.
-
I don't think the comments being critical is impatience (I've only seen one person totally write him off) I think it's more down to the fact of how hyped he's being and how Sarri is being seen as the devil for not playing him and the last few games especially shows he has a lot to learn and isn't the instant upgrade that has been made out.

Football doesn't work like that, we won the CL the same season an Alex McLeish infected Villa side took the piss out of us at Stamford Bridge. Furthermore, Arsenal defeat at Molinaex and City win at Old Trafford it's in our hands.

As soon as the permanent deal was announced things went to shit, exactly like Liverpool and Kenny. Hopefully OGS is as wasteful in the market and sets the club back years like Dalglish did.
-
Sensational headline that took one sentence totally out of context.
-
I do agree but it would be good material to wind up Liverpool fans with. "You're best team possibly ever and a Chelsea side deep in transition had a better season".
-
Klopp took over after like 7/8 games, he didn't exactly take over a hopeless relegations battle at Christmas. He may have won against us and City but he was constantly dropping points against shit teams because he wasn't ruthless enough with his defense and the attack couldn't break them down, a defense he didn't fix for over two years. Narrow wins against City and Spurs? Both were very comfortable.
-
I would say his drop off in 2017 was the start of his decline, it got the point i was starting to wonder if he was doing it on purpose.
-
There's a hell of a lot of re writing history with Klopp's early time at Liverpool. His first season he oversaw statically their worse season for about half a century and he didn't sort out the defensive woes for over two years giving the likes of Lovren, Moreno and the two chuckle brother in goal chance after chance before finally replacing them in the market, as recently as last season some Liverpool fans turned against Klopp for it. Up until the back end of last season, there was absolutely no signs whatsoever that Klopp was going to have Liverpool anywhere near the level they currently are.

Funny thing is, Morata is better than the current day Costa, that's why Simeone turned to the former and plays him ahead of the latter. That's how bad Costa has turned, he's been off form for two and a half years, think it's safe to say he's finished as a top class striker.

Four games away from the end of the league and we are 4 points of last seasons total, you would think/hope we will at the very worst match it. Add to the fact this season has been a massive culture shift in the club, most of the first team didn't arrive till 1 week before the league started and we have had Europa distractions all season (added to a league cup final run has meant a brutal schedule which has lead to high match turnover basically all season). Right now i think Sarri has should get the benefit of the doubt given what I've listed above. That said there's some aspects he needs a big improvement on. His tactics on big and even 2nd tier away games, our results have not been good enough and the way we capitulate at times is beyond pale, his big game away results at Napoli were pretty good iirc so he needs to translate that to here because we can't have anymore humiliations. His squad management was a big concern of mine 2 months ago but recently he seems to have improved a lot on that score, only Azpi is really getting "flogged" to the level we feared our entire starting Xl would be at this stage, hopefully this is a sign he's learning to better utilize his squad. All in all i want to see where giving him a second season alongside a proper pre season will take us, if we get to October and still no progress or worse we go backwards then okay bye bye, we won't be winning the league next season so it's worth a roll of the dice.
-
With the exception of Azpi Sarri does seem to be rotating a lot better than he did in the winter period or at Napoli. Hopefully he keeps it up next season if he's here.
