  1. According to wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009%E2%80%9310_Chelsea_F.C._season#Summer_2
  2. Lukaku may dress things up as wanting to move to a CL team but at no such team is he going to walk in unchallenged as the undisputed first choice, and I suspect he knows this deep down as evidenced by moving to a club where the manager fawns over him all the time and he has a cushiony place all sewn up. Combine that with Mourinho not rating him and voila.
  3. 4-3-1-2? Cech Dave - Ivan - Cahill - Luis Cesc - MvG - Matic Salah Torres - Costa
  4. On another note, we're currently on a net transfer profit in this window : In Costa 32m + Fabregas 27m + Luis 15.8m = 74.8m Out Luiz 50m + Ba 4.7m + Lukaku 24m = 78.7m (figures from wikipedia)
  5. Chelsea better win this comfortably or the moaning from a bad result and the Lukaku sale would make the forum a pain to visit
  6. Echo what others have said and what's the only logical move behind selling Lukaku - get shot of Torres and replace the Belgian with a technical striker to balance that position.
  7. You really seem to have it in for Mourinho.
  8. Of course he's not god but we didn't lose the league last season because of Lukaku's absence, his style would have been completely useless in the games we struggled to score.
  9. Yes, they 'fancy' getting our unwanted, unused and wantaway players off us after paying absurd amounts.
  10. Selling unwanted, unused and wantaway players for absurd amounts. Some selling club.
  11. From that article : So let me get this straight - Mourinho actually doesn't have an opinion on Lukaku's attributes/skillset and relied only on his personal equation with him in looking to move him on. The same Mourinho who released Lampard and Essien; the same Mourinho who signed Eto'o for Inter and Fabregas for Chelsea not long after those players had some not very nice things to say about him. Yup, totally makes sense. Mourinho didn't get to the very, very top of his profession by holding grudges against 20 year olds.
  12. Holding my peace till September 1; if we haven't signed a Lukaku replacement by then I would be upset.
  13. Sturridge showed what he's capable of in a Chelsea shirt when his competition was a younger Drogba and still-new Torres who enjoyed much more confidence and faith from everyone at the club; Lukaku folded (yes, WC year, I know) when Eto'o was plucked from the wilderness and Torres was beyond all hope and repair. That's the difference between the two.
  14. Not counting club-trained players, at that price he's our : - 3rd highest sale in the Abramovich era - 2nd most profitable sale in the Abramovich era - 2nd highest in terms of return on investment Clearly, exceptional business in monetary terms.
  15. What's DH? Edit : Apparently something called 'La Derniere Heure'
  16. Do those people also cry and wallow in misery when Southampton offer players from smaller clubs higher wages to join them? Why should those smaller clubs then "improve their club as a sporting entity"? Oh what a shame, won't someone think of the children? Professional football is a food chain, they just happen to be in the middle - a smaller link than some, a bigger link than most.

  18. Has this been posted here? Apologies if so. Some fan to Martinez on Everton's pre-season tour : "Robbie, are we getting Rom?" Martinez : "Of course, of course we'll get him."
