  1. Souness: It’s not the hardest job in the world to win the league with Porto because Porto seem to have it well and truly sorted one way or another over there. André: Souness made comments about it being easy to win at Porto. It was easy to win at Liverpool in the '90s and the '80s, wasn't it? But he was five years there and didn’t win anything.
  2. To be fair.. Look at his form for Valencia this season. He's been sensational for them.
  3. Agreed. And I'm not trying to belittle Bruma's potential. Good to hear that too. Good post on assessing Johnson & Cahill. Of course, I'll agree, Johnson is more consistent and hold more experience than Cahill. However with the way our system is now, with the high defensive line, I believe Cahill is suited more than someone like Dann or Johnson is. For all Johnson's toughness, the one thing he can't boast is pace - Whereas Cahill can. I agree about his attitude, but I think that's a result of him being one of Bolton's stars. If he came to a club like ours, I'm sure we'd see a change in him, especially with Villas-Boas at the helm. Of course, I'd rather see Bruma come through. But his case (in all honesty) looks like a lost cause. A 2-year loan to Hamburg just shows the lack of trust this club shows in him. Granted that was under Ancelotti so maybe Villas-Boas will recognise the hidden potential the kid contains. Remember, I said we should only go for Cahill if Alex leaves. Because Alex has already stated his intent to leave.
  4. Johnson is not better than Cahill. Dann comes close.
  5. Chelsea 'could have signed Fernando Torres for £20m’ says former reserve team manager Brendan Rogers http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/8783076/Chelsea-could-have-signed-Fernando-Torres-for-20m-says-former-reserve-team-manager-Brendan-Rogers.html
  6. This rationale makes people, now, underrate players. Bruma is not much better. He's certainly not impressing at Hamburg yet.
  7. That statement has no logical sense to it at all.. Typical.
  8. Fair do's to your opinion. I just think he's not the player that we think he is. He was brilliant in 09/10 and at the beginning for 10/11. Prior to 2009 he was too inconsistent and showed hardly any promise. He went on to prove us wrong, but within a year he went and did it again (show us the pre-2009 form). I think the bashing criticism on this forum is justified. He is, perhaps, good experience to have on the bench, but he's not the pure-winger we need.
  9. Same way as he came back on Souness when he belittled AVB's achievements with Porto! Absolute legend!
  10. Why do I imagine Anelka buying one of these? I, myself, just bought this..
  11. It's not about Malouda's age. It's about his worth ethic - or lack of. He's never been one to give it his all, only when the overall team is doing well. Just look at his performance when Torres arrived! No passing, no gameplay, just trying to shoot outside the box - When he knows he's incapable. I'll give him this much.. He's been a bit more, conserved in midfield. Perhaps because there's no expectation of him to run down the wing. As I said though, with Mata proving effective in the hole, behind the striker(s).. The need for a more effective left-winger will be greater.
  12. Luiz & Cahill can form a great partnership in the future. It just comes down to if Cahill's willing to wait for his chance, he'll look at Phil Jones (despite knowing Rio & Vidic are injured) and want more football from any big club. Coyle will also play hard-ball, near £15million perhaps. Though, considering his contract expires in summer, he won't risk the free.
  13. Yeah, I see that too. Still think it's a worthwhile signing. In all likelihood, Bruma will be sold. Alex has already said he wishes to leave, he said so in the summer window & he'll be even more keen with Luiz and Iva ahead of him in the pecking order. Will be hard to convince Cahill though. We can't promise him first team football in most games, whereas Arsenal & Tottenham can.
  14. Kalou wasn't good in the first half, he was a bit better in the second. Malouda wasn't great though. He didn't give the ball away as much, but it was still the same old waste-of-possession Malouda. I'll give him this much to his credit: He's must better in midfield than he is on the Wing. Still, against a B team Fulham, could've been worse.
  15. Yeah.. I feel there's an attacking instinct that he posses above Mikel though, perhaps AVB will exploit it. Will be an interesting battle between Mikel & Romeu now.
  16. Makes a nice change.. The club (well, André) telling us injury statuses on all the players!
  17. Busy month September.. We usually do well with this, let's hope that carries on.
  18. De Gea made his name in his outstanding performance for Athletico vs Barcelona last year.. Let's hope Courtois upstages him!
  19. I see Lukaku's potential. Has quite a bit of work to do, but that's why we've bought him at 18, plenty of time to mould him into a successful player.
  20. Sigh.. There's a player who should not be out there right now. I'm not even hating, but he is a very big hindrance right now. I can only hope Mata will replace him soon enough.
