Mm, problem with not having an actual right-winger isn't it? That hypothetical was based on a central-defence tactic more than an attacking one. It's a bit naiive of me, because United can be beaten with an attacking strategy instead of a defensive one, contrary to how they've been playing lately. That's why 4-3-3 has probably been favoured by Ancelotti & Villas-Boas, because of our lack of right wingers. Instead of buying a pure winger, we've taken the policy of using 3 players down the side in hopes they can do the same job. To your first question, yes I did. I'd rather see Luiz played to his strengths rather than Terry. Because I think Terry can play with his right foot - he's been trained too anyway. Luiz is purely left-footed and performs well playing that side of defence anyway. As for Sturridge, yeah you & eldo are right about that.

Quite optimistic for this game. It won't be as exciting, because defending will be key. Rooney will be heavily marked, and if that's successful then it will a game we can challenge. I personally think we should pack our midfield with 5-men. I don't think AVB will, because he won't compromise style for such opponents. He certainly didn't do it at Porto when he came up against teams like Benfica.. Exactly! He hasn't be consistent enough in all his match performances. We understand that there is some pressure hanging on his head.. However, I think that's starting to be relieved slightly because goals are coming from other places (like Mata & Sturridge). He's capable of scoring. We've seen him get in positions where he can, and we've seen service provided to him. Eventually he'll find the back of the net, and while I don't believe he'll find that deadly form of before, he's still a striker who looks like he can get you 10+ goals a season.

So we should forget his selfish attitude? His attitude of going for self glory, shooting outside the box when he knows he can't score? Time after time, we see him doing this very thing, when there's other players who are open to a pass. Yes he was very good in the 09/10 campaign. He's changed since then, he's gone back to the 2007 form we all resented from him. Afaik, he did, what other members have said, a "Joe Cole" & only turned up for 2 seasons.

I have a good feeling he'll be on the bench. Seriously. Not a game to be risking the whole "maybe he'll score THIS time" feeling, AVB will know this. Sturridge has already proved himself a goal threat so a trio of Anelka - Sturridge - Mata will do me fine. If he does play, I'll have no complaints. As long as Sturridge & Mata flank him!
