  1. A bit unfair and a bit premature to conclude that the current forwards can't score a goal. They have had a few weeks to train as a team during which they probably spent more time leaning the fundamentals of how Poch wants them to play. I don't know of a striker who arrives at a new club with a bag full of goals. Whoever we sign will have to start with the system first. Goals are created by the team, ultimately. Yesterday, Jackson should have hit the target with that cross. But that was only one miss. If he misses a second, a third and maybe a fourth like that, perhaps we can start to question his goalscoring.
  2. I'm pleased with the way we played. One really standout change from Tuchel (I don't want to waste my time comparing Lampard and Potter) was our transition. The moment we picked the ball, we went on the offensive. That is key to breaking down a good team in modern football. Under Tuchel, we used to take a deep breath and allow the opposition to regroup, which used to push me to the brink of mental calamity. Transition is so important that if Tuchel doesn't address it, amongst his other deficits, he won't last this season at Bayern.
  3. True, but it's not like we are receiving freebies from the Saudis. Selling footballers is morally better than fighter jets and bombs, I would have thought.
  4. Lukaku is not getting any lighter. He is huffing and puffing before he kicks a ball. The pace of the PL is going to get harder and harder for him even with the best manager.. We should cut our losses.
  5. They are not happy when we buy, not happy when we sell.
  6. I think we should sell him before Arsenal change their mind. I have studied Havertz since his days in Germany and can't really see what his skills are. He is a decent finisher of free balls. That is about it. And I stress free balls, because there are strikers who do not need free balls to score, who can take on their man and still finish the business. People say he is played in the wrong position. Okay, to play deeper, he needs a lot more skills than a No 9. He must be able to: - tackle, dribble, pass, hold the ball, dictate play, etc - maybe not all of the above, but at least some. I just don't see where Havertz has any of those skills by any stretch.
  7. In Germany, he could score some beautiful goals at the end of a run. He wasn't a passer, a tackler, or someone who controls the ball. I actually watched him a lot in German football He was a modern day Lampard. That role is now a luxury in any top team competing team. His all round football skills are not great. That is why he's struggling.
  8. Just because Real Madrid want Havertz (rumoured) does not mean they see things better. Bayern Munich thought they got one over us with Thomas Tuchel. So far, rumours are he might not even last a season, certainly not by the way they are playing.
  9. There is no other position on the pitch where you don't need to be able to trap a ball or pass it. What skills does he have to play deeper?
  10. I would drive him to Madrid, and I'm sure Pochetino would.
  11. Give him a minute. He's not even coached a Chelsea team yet.
  12. The way I see it, Colwill is our player, simple. We want to buy Caicedo, and if the price is right, he comes here. If Brighton want to do a Spurs, we move on. I just have a lot of belief in Poch to do the right thing. I may be different from other Chelsea fans, but I never had any faith if Tuchel about choice of signings.
  13. Of the three names we were.linked.with, Pochetino was the only one that made sense to me. Welcome to Chelsea.
  14. I won't lose sleep over Nagelsmann moving on. Apparently he suffered the Graham Potter treatment at Bayern; where the players didn't think he was up to the job.
  15. Apparently Nagelsmann is holding out for a return to Bayern. Since Tuchel took over, strikers have stopped scoring goals. In fact defenders have scored all their last 10 goals or so goals, just like his time at Chelsea. There is disquiet among the Bayern hierarchy. Pochetino looks like the least bad of the available experienced managers for us.
