I always said he was a poor player. But somehow the whole forum (including you) used to say he was important because his role was special...(?!). I always said Luiz was a better option than Mikel. Now, somehow, a lot of people are "losing patience". I dont see any problem in saying Mikel is not Chelsea material, I see problem when people change their minds in a matter of games. I see those things happening all the time at TC. When Ramires signed he was poor for the entire season when Ancelotti was the manager, but everyone said he was good, next 11/12 he was our most consistent player, he has been consistent for the past seasons, his passing skills have been the same, but now, somehow people decided those flaws are not acceptable for a Chelsea player. Mikel has been playing like that since he signed for Chelsea, but now Alex, who wrote an article seasons ago saying Mikel was our midfield maestro, lost his patience after a defeat. You lost your patience. The same will happen with Matic. Now he is considered the best DM since Makelele, after some seasons, he will get the blame for some defeats, people will notice his weaknesses, people will forget his good games. Something really odd is happening with TC forum members. Seasons ago people were happy to lose, happy to finish in 2nd or 3rd position, now the word is: finish 2nd, and you are a loser. Oh, well...

This is the worst side of Mourinho, when people are discussing more his press conferences, when he always come up with some kind of bullshit, than discussing what is happening on the field. Well, after the matche against City (the one we won), many people were saying how amazing he was, and that we should sell Ramires because he is not good enough to play alongside Matic. Matic was far from good in the match against West Brom, for the 2nd half they got too much space on the mid, and the same thing happened today, too much ball watching from the serbian. He tried some terrible long balls, reacted way too slow in some attacking opportunities, won few challenges...Mikel looked better for the whole match. It doesnt mean Matic is a bad player, it just means that we need more time before jumping into conclusions, before saying he is awesome, or saying that a player like Ramires is useless because he is not good enough to play alongside Matic. Shevchenko was supposed to do better than Kalou...

Stats are really nice because you can manipulate and use them to support a point of view. Terry was the CB when the team conceded 6 goals in 2 matches.

To be fair this is the real difference between both teams. 2-0 but it was a demolition. Expect people to blame Mikel, Ramires and Luiz, and expect people to forget there was zero shoots on target. Well, but you might find a midfielder with a better passing, but will you find a DM with better passing and with the same stamina and speed Ramires has? You ara talking about Gundogan. Do you imagine how much he would cost? With no proper full backs, striker problems, I'm really dont believe some people believe Ramires is soo poor that we should be thinking about buying another DM in near future, just because we bought a bew DM, and well, he needs a player to suit him. To be fair with Luiz, I just watched the goal again and even tough he should have done better, I think Cech just got it wrong, it should be a easy defense if he was where he was supposed to be, but why in the hell Luiz avoided an aerial challenge? Perhaps he believed it was a ball for Cech, since the GK was running into it...but it doesnt matter, he should have made a challenge. 2 points dropped at the end of the day, but again the CB are not the ones to blame here.

1- Lampard in the old days would not be playing in the pivot. Even tough some supid commentators in Brazil said such a thing back then, Lampard was never a DM. Morphing Matic into a new Lampard does not make sense at all, and if such a thing happens it means Matic wont be playing in the pivot. 2- As someone said before, you are suggesting that Mourinho should build a midfield around Matic. Just wait a while before jumping into those kind of conclusions. Matic is a good player, yeah, but he was playing in portuguese league and Chelsea was the only big european club really interested. He is far from a HUGE name, he might be one day. 3- In the beginning of the season Ramires was one of our most consistent players, and now we have this kind of silly comment: "its time to sell Ramires because we got Matic". 4- You just wish we had a better player than Ramires. I just wish we had a "proper" RB, instead of Ivanovic, I just wish we had a proper LB, instead of a so-so RB playing out of position, I just with we had a better player than Hazard (Messi or Ronaldo would have killed the game today, right), a better player than Willian (Ronaldo and Messi instead of Hazard and Willian would be a HUUUGE improvement, what do you think), I just wish we had better DM than Matic (Xuaistaiger would be perfect, or perhaps we could buy Iniesta and Xavi and morph them into a proper DM player). I think its really strange how people love new players. Just wait weeks and months to choose Matic over Ramires. This is the 2nd time I watched Matic in his return (I was travelling untill days ago). Some people said he was great against City, but to be honest today he was just average. He received lots of votes for the man of the match, but its just the "new face in town" effect. Won some challenges but I just get feeling he is little bit harsh, most of his challengers end up as a foul. Well, only my 2nd game impression, it takes more than one big game against City to evaluate a player. Its just really odd how many people voted for a DM for man of the match when for the 90% of the 2nd half West Browinch had lots of space in the midfield.
