Mahrez could easily start. Point is he isn’t really going to sit on the bench per se, he’s gone because the squad needs some competition and depth. Could easily start over someone like Sterling/Sane if they aren’t on form for example. He’s equally as good as them. Jorginho wouldn’t have that much competition at DM.

Jorginho would walk into City’s eleven imo. He’s better than 33yo Fernandinho and that crock Gundogan - that would be his competition. They wouldn’t spent £50m on a bench player.

Can’t underestimate how huge this signing is - we actually managed to steal a player that Pep’s Champions proper coveted... also signals a philosophy change. Kanté and Jorginho will be a joy to watch.

If we sell Batshuayi then I’m okay with Higuain, Morata and Giroud as the front three tbh.

He’s still a decent player but like you mentioned - his physique worries me a lot. It’s fine in Italy where the pace of the game is slightly more methodical and slower, but he might seem like a fish out of water here unless he does come back to being as trim as his Real Madrid days...

I like him, but I have worries on whether he’s athletic enough to have maximum impact in the PL. Sarri/Rugani/Jorginho/Golovin is a great start to the summer though.

Ampadu’s passing range is overrated. Not an elite passer/doesn’t have elite vision. Decent passer but not good enough to play the Jorginho role. Sarri’s DM is usually technically gifted. Even Diawara is pretty good technically.

Yep. If we have £60m net spend, then we could do something like this: Sell Willian £50m, Drinkwater £20m, Luiz £20m, Zappacosta £15m, Pedro £15m, loan army (MVG, Kenedy, Pasalic etc.) > £35m. Total of £155m. That would give us > £200m to play with which isn’t too bad.

He should be building the team around his three biggest talents - Messi, Dybala and Aguero. A front three with these could work imo. Instead the whole system doesn’t make sense and doesn’t even get the best out of Messi or Aguero who he does start. He’s not getting the best out of some the most talented players in the world and seems to not even play half of them.

Argentina struggled in qualifying partly due to the fact that Sampaoli struggled to actually play these world class players together. It's weird how he benches guys like Dybala, Banega etc. His tactics have also been shambolic at the WC so far. Rulli didn't make the squad strangely enough. Again a strange Sampaoli decision. I do agree he might be more suited at club football though.

He’s a rubbish squad player. Nothing outstanding or useful about him. Would rather see guys like Dujon Sterling or Reece James take up his role in the squad.
