As long as we replace accordingly l think it’d be fine. For example, a double swoop for Leon Bailey who we’re also linked with and Martial, coming in to replace Pedro and Willian? I’d take that.
Main point really is that we shouldn’t look at him as a goal scorer. Sure, he’ll chip in with about 20 goals a season but apart from that, his game isn’t about scoring really. Just elite attacking flow is what we get from Hazard.
I know but I was getting at his overall game. He isn't consistent enough
That’s unfair to say. He’s actually one of our most consistent players. Apart from 14/15, he’s always been at least a top 2 performer. Sure he has dips but what player doesn’t?
One of the only signings the club got right recently. Rüdiger 35m, VVD 75m. VVD isn’t twice the player Rüdiger is either, prettt much on a similar level/same tier imo.
If Barkley was fitter/more game ready possibly him. At least we don’t completely lose Fabregas’ creativity but get way more midfield solidity in that sense.
Kanté and Bakayoko are winning us the midfield battle. Good performances from both. Gunman Giroud proving once again he’s probably the best back up striker in the league.
They all left Monaco last season no? The overall point is that none have had as big as an impact as they were expected to. Obviously Bakayoko has been the most underwhelming by far.
Putting words in my mouth Jase, wasn’t putting them in the same bracket, obviously Bakayoko has been the worse out of the lot by far. Stating the obvious.
Ah, it wasn’t even a YouTube thing. Bakayoko looks 1/10th the player he was at Monaco unfortunately. Tbh, most of the Monaco players have been pretty underwhelming in a sense (Mbappe, Bakayoko, Bernardo).
Worst Chelsea captain in the PL era. I’m talking about his leadership/captaincy ability not his ability overall as a player.
Edit:
To clarify even further, here’s our list of captains in the PL era:
- Dennis Wise
- Marcel Desailly
- John Terry
- Gary Cahill
Now is what I said ludicrous?
There’s no agenda - he literally missed guilt edged chances in the same game with his feet - a problem he’s had during his time here. I wasn’t even really talking about his goal either - was actually talking about the chances, so not too sure where you’re getting that I discredited his goal from.
Rightfully so... Morata cost us £70m. Giroud a mere £18m. Olivier is proving to be better value for money at the moment. Of course he’s going to be scrutinised more. He’s meant to be our number 1 striker but our backup striker is arguably doing better than him.
Also, I think Giroud has a better goals per minute ratio than Morata this season (and if not it’s probably very close anyway - this with Giroud starting a lot less games too). You don’t need to bump anything next season - Morata should be the better player but at the moment he isn’t. I just wanted to find out why you’re more critical of Giroud than Morata but saying it’s because you’re trying to provide “balance”... I don’t know. Like I said above, Morata is rightfully going to be held to a higher standard than Giroud, thus is going to be criticised more if things aren’t going his way.
What about the last game vs. Southampton then? When Giroud came on for Morata and won us the game by scoring twice to keep even the slimmest hopes of top four alive?
Why are you a lot harsher on Giroud than Morata? Morata cost over 3 times Giroud did and is pretty much still in the same tier as a striker.
