  2. Cesar Azpilicueta facing Chelsea chop as Maurizio Sarri plots new transfer move Chelsea boss who slammed his squad at the weekend now wants Elseid Hysaj, who played popular skipper Azpilicueta's position for him at TWO Italian clubs https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cesar-azpilicueta-facing-chelsea-chop-13893145 no way would I buy him for £45m. I so rate (in terms of doables, as Kimmich Sergi Roberto, TAA, and Cancelo are untouchable atm) Achraf Hakimi (only way to get him I think is make him part of the Eden deal) Valentino Lazaro (if no Hakimi then DEFFO my plan B, and tbh, I rate him around the same, and would be far cheaper) Aaron Wan-Bissaka (HG too) Sime Vrsaljko Nélson Semedo Benjamin Henrichs Álvaro Odriozola Mário Fernandes (unfortunately too old for a long term buy, as he turns 29 in 8 months) over Hysaj atm especially at £45m Denzel Dumfries and Nordi Mukiele are interesting younger (22 and 21yo) ones who could be bought cheaply. Dumfries is a brutal physical specimen and has exploded onto the Dutch national team. He, Wan-Bissaka and especial Lazaro are the best athletes listed. PLUS we have Reece James on the way
  3. Parsing this out, he ruled out 'the one' that all were talking about.' That would be Victimpool. I dont think Spurs would dish out almost £60m quid for a fairly unproven winger, Levy is cheap as fuck, plus they already have three either very very good or pretty decent 26yo wingers who can play either side. I dont see Everton or West Ham or Leicester or Wolves or Fulham dumping this sort of cash (those are the only other sorta big spenders in the EPL), and zero chance Shitty would buy another RWer, as they are fucking LOADED there already. That leaves 2 teams. Arsenal is on record as saying they can only loan players atm. They really do need wingers, as they literally have only one true one atm, in Alex Iwobi, who is a LW, so Pulisic could surely be of use for them at RW, BUT the only way it could be them is IF they are flat out lying about no cash to buy atm. Maybe they are, who knows, but I will, with some trepidation, take them at their word. Under Wenger etc, they didnt seem to be a lying, duplicitous club, for all their other faults (unlike half of Serie A, BAYERN (along with Juve and Napoli by far the worst), and PSG/Real/Barca/AM.) Sooooooo It pretty much had to be Manure I think, and they do need another RW, as they only have the uber streaky Lingard there atm. I guess Puli was either sold on living in London v Mancville (I surely would be) and/or he is a Chels fan over all the rest.
  4. Morata never scored at this rate and Piatek is less than half his price. We shall see how he does at AC Milan. If he turns into a consistent 20 plus goals a year striker, he will soon be close to 100 euros, no doubt. Remember, Piatek was only my fifth choice, after Icardi Dybala Werner Jovic I am not against the loan of Higs per se , BUT his loan fee (from all that I have read it is at the same rate Milan was paying), for one full year is at a rate of 18m euros! Thats 27m euros for an 18 month loan. Plus his salary is way more than double Piatek's. So, lets say summer of 2020, we don't exercise buy option on Higs (I doubt we will) We have paid more to LOAN Higuain for a year and half (when salary is tossed in) that what Piatek would have cost TO BUY OUTRIGHT and pay salary! Nothing to show for it with Higs versus OWNING outright a great young striker who surely, even if not the true answer we could sell for what we paid for him. We are literally tossing money down the shitter. BAD BUSINESS
  5. Chelsea loanee continues to impress, named ‘MVP’ in latest win for Euro giants https://www.caughtoffside.com/2019/01/22/chelsea-loanee-continues-to-impress-named-mvp-in-latest-win-for-euro-giants/
  6. Agree 100%. Hopefully CHO sees the reality AND shows loyalty to the club who have nurtured him for years. If would be salivating as an 18yo with a £70k per week pay cheque and a great chance as being a star in my hometown club.
  7. He is FAR more likely to play LW here soon. Eden is gone, I am raising odds from 90% to 95%. Surely he can at least get 50/50 time at LW with the turgid (and at that point 31yo) Willian, unless we buy a new WC LW. We may do that, which then blows this projection out, and THEN I could very likely see him leaving. A FAR better place for him to go (and for us, as they would be more likely to put a buyback or price match into play contractually wise) is Borussia Dortmund, where he could be their LW, with Sancho on the right and Raphaël Guerreiro moving back to his natural LB position as Marcel Schmelzer will be 32yo in middle of next season. At Bayern they already have a potential WC LW (as long as he stays healthy, which has been his main issue) in Kingsley Coman, as well as Serge Gnabry, plus another 18yo wundekind in Alphonso Davies, who they just bought from Vancouver. Unless he is oki with being a RW, he has a huge battle there for LW playing time. From all I have seen, CHO is far more effective at LW.
  8. I rarely disagree with you but I must on this. I would take TAA all day over Azpi at this point, especially due to age and offensive play, and would take Gomez over Luiz, probably soon Rudiger too. Those are two very very special young talents Victimpool have. VVD is in a battle atm for top CB on the planet with Koulibaly IMHO, so that lifts their starting back 4 overall (they have shit for depth there) to the best in the EPL unless Mendy comes back full-blown for Shitty, and probably even then. Pedro is miles behind Mane at this stage as well.
  9. This seems silly and petty on Sarri's part IF AC actually had to go to the loo. You cannot force a player to shit or piss himself, that's ridiculous.
  10. Nantes' manager, Vahid Halilhodžić, is an bellend too, so that doesnt help the issues. He was the one that got sacked as the manager of the Côte d'Ivoire national team coach in 2010, right before the WC. when they crashed out of the African Nations Cup. They had probably the best African team in decades (Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Salomon Kalou, Gervinho, Sol Bamba, etc etc). The players hated him.
  11. Juve want him badly, its going to be a tough one
  12. Chelsea's tactical headache deconstructed: The problems facing Sarri-ball - and why N'Golo Kante will not be moved https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/01/21/chelseas-tactical-headache-deconstructed-problems-facing-sarri/ Chelsea aren't playing very well. Maurizio Sarri warned everyone back in September that he felt Chelsea were a year or two behind their rivals and it looks like he had a point. Former manager Jose Mourinho summarised things nicely on a rare TV appearance over the weekend: "I'm not saying Chelsea's an easy team to play against... but it's an easy team to analyse". With that in mind, what's going wrong? How Sarri-ball works As has become all too apparent in recent weeks, Chelsea are predictable and easy to shut down. Sarri's team lineup in a 4-3-3, play a high defensive line and patiently wait for opportunities to score by passing, then passing some more, then passing even more, then passing even more than that. The whole thing is structured around a deep lying playmaker, or 'six', acting as a link between centre-backs and midfield. On either side of him are two central midfielders - 'eights' - who play from box to box and operate in the halfspaces. The wingers are instructed to move inside the pitch, full-backs play high and overlap and the striker has to be able to attack crosses, run onto through balls and link play. https://i.gyazo.com/7b2c116f5c63cc7f5cd56538a8010907.mp4 In defensive phases the shape can change to a 4-5-1 if the wingers do the defensive work required. The setup is very structured and depends on players who understand the tactical demands and are suited to their individual roles. Everyone knows how Chelsea play now. Marking Jorginho In the first phase of build up, everything goes through Jorginho. He acts as the link in all Chelsea's passing, dropping between the centre-backs, offering a safe diagonal pass backwards for the two eights and able to switch play from deep to an advancing full-back to get Chelsea up the pitch. All anyone need do to suss out how influential Jorginho is look at Opta passing statistics. snip superb article much more at the link above
  13. Matt Law's Chelsea briefing Will Bournemouth duo move to London? By Matt Law Football News Correspondent Signing Ake would fill a place on Chelsea's home-grown quota (credit: Getty Images) Chelsea will not need to read up too much on Bournemouth ahead of their next Premier League game at the Vitality Stadium at the end of the month, as head scout Scott McLachlan has been a regular visitor. McLachlan has been spotted in the stands for Bournemouth games on numerous occasions, with Callum Wilson and former Chelsea defender Nathan Ake of particular interest. Chelsea hope the loan signing of Gonzalo Higuain will solve their striker crisis for now, but it is believed the club are only committed to signing the Argentine permanently if they win the Europa League or finish third or higher in the Premier League. That means the Blues will continue to watch Wilson as a potential long-term replacement to Alvaro Morata, along with central defender Ake, for the remainder of the season. Bournemouth value Wilson at well over £50 million and the 26-year-old has no intention of forcing his way out this month and risking upsetting his club’s season. But he could try to force his way to Stamford Bridge in the summer if Chelsea follow up their interest on McLachlan’s recommendation. Chelsea have a gentleman’s agreement with Bournemouth that would allow them to re-sign Ake for around £40 million and, crucially, he would fill a place on their home-grown quota. The expected departure of David Luiz at the end of his contract in the summer would free up a place in Maurizio Sarri’s squad for Ake, but that still leaves a question mark over Andreas Christensen. Christensen is highly rated by Chelsea, but has lost his place in the team since Sarri’s arrival. Despite being frustrated, the Dane agreed to stay this month, but he could look to leave if a defender is parachuted in ahead of him in the summer. It leaves Chelsea in a tricky situation, as Ake would also want first-team assurances to move back to the club he quit in 2017 in search of more regular football. Wilson and Ake will have the chance to show Sarri that McLachlan’s regular trips have been worthwhile, when Bournemouth host Chelsea on January 30. btw, this comes as an email, no links
  14. Oh, I am not just basing my opinion him off one game, have been following him since Porto days. Sorry if I cam off too harsh btw.
  15. Tell me, how did those Wolves and Leicester games work out for us? Absolutely stand by my Neves over Jorginho pick, even more so due to age.
  16. And we supporters are not relaxed and certainly do NOT enjoy this shit football!
  17. I think it is criminal to start exploiting a kid when they are 10, 12, 13! Let them be a fucking kid!!!!
  18. Can you imagine the chants???? Or the presenters! Jizz shoots deep and hard in between the keepers legs!!!
  19. Manchester City concede defeat to Paris Saint-Germain over Ajax star Frenkie de Jong https://metro.co.uk/2019/01/21/manchester-city-concede-defeat-to-paris-saint-germain-over-ajax-star-frenkie-de-jong-8369704/ Manchester City have all but given up hope of signing Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong after seeing Paris Saint-Germain gazump their offer to the Dutchman, Metro.co.uk understands. Pep Guardiola had earmarked the 21-year-old as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho and the youngster’s representatives had intimated to City that the midfielder was keen on a move to the Etihad. City intensified their search for a defensive midfielder after Jorginho opted for Chelsea last summer and Guardiola had settled on pursuing de Jong after conducting a wide background check on the midfielder that included speaking to former team-mate and Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman. Barcelona appeared to pose the biggest threat to City’s chances but Paris Saint-Germain’s emergence has blown both parties out of the water with City unwilling to enter into a costly tug-of-war. City had been willing to pay around £50m for the Dutchman and pay him wages of around £100,000-a-week that would include incremental rises. However, PSG are offering closer to £200,000-a-week and City will refuse to match their offer as they cannot justify such an outlay on a relatively unproven 21-year-old. snip I see NO way Barca will match those wages either I so so wonder what that means for de Ligt, as they both wanted a package deal together PSG already have 3 superb CB's in Marquinho, Presnel Kimpembe, and Thilo Kehrer, so cant see them ALSO going for de Ligt, unless they sell one of those 3. Barca surely will now go after de Ligt with a vengeance. Pep is quickly running out of true DH DMF options Surely he goes all out for Neves or Rodri (if he can bully Atletico Madrid into selling) now. I just cannot see him rating Julian Weigl that high. Especially if Paredes moves to us (or PSG, as de Jong is far than just a DH DMF, he can play almost anywhere in the pitch save for GK and CF) I hope he stays the fuck away from Sandro Tonali This (Neves to Shitty) might be a reason for this Report: Wolves join race for £26m Celta Vigo star Stanislav Lobotka https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/01/21/do-report-wolves-join-race-for-26m-celta-vigo-star-stanislav-lob/
  20. It really really is. There is a massive correlation between his plummeting in quality of play and our whole team turning toothless. I am at a loss for what happened. It cannot simply be tactical. He so much better dealt with pressure in the first 3 months. I REALLY want him to succeed, as I like him as a player a lot (unlike the Willian of the last year and a half or so and a non-wingback Alonso always.)
  21. Why the hell are Barca letting him leave? Seems insane to let this kid go.
  22. Yes, it's the 800-pound gorilla in the room Alonso, Willian, the strikers are obvious massive fails for all to see (except for their fanboys/girls), but when your engine is so easily choked off, the whole thing just sputters to a halt.
  23. Jose Mourinho shows why he's out of touch and out of a job at Man United http://www.espn.co.uk/soccer/club/manchester-united/360/blog/post/3755802/jose-mourinho-shows-why-hes-out-of-touch-and-out-of-a-job-at-man-united Jose Mourinho offered some interesting observations during his two-game stint as a pundit on BeIN Sports, but his advice to Arsenal manager Unai Emery that Mesut Ozil "needs a little bit of care and a little bit of love" to perform at his best was the one which would have had everyone at Manchester United rolling their eyes. Self-awareness has never been one of Mourinho's strong points, but telling a rival manager that he needs be more aware of a player's feelings appears to be a classic case of "Do as I say, not as I do." Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling and several other United players would argue that Mourinho did not heed his own advice when dealing with the differing personalities in the Old Trafford dressing room. Rather than offer care and love, Mourinho took abrasiveness to a new level in criticising his players openly and his final months in charge of United were full of negativity and acrimony. Yet the remarks about Ozil were only one element of an insight into precisely why Mourinho failed at United and why he must change his ways if he is ever to return to the top table of management again. The main thing that came across from his appearances as a pundit in the Middle East was how much he is looking to the past, rather than the future. Mourinho's track record is great -- winning league titles in four different European countries, two Champions Leagues, UEFA Cup/Europa League success, and countless domestic cups in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain -- but to continue to be successful, a coach must move with the times. Sir Alex Ferguson lasted so long at United because he was always prepared to embrace new ideas, find new coaches and, crucially, face forward. Yet all Mourinho could do was look backwards. He claimed that the term "parking the bus" was only coined "when I was champions with Real Madrid with 100 points and 106 goals." He insisted that Manchester City's Pep Guardiola and Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp are only having so much success because they have had the full support of their clubs -- overlooking the fact that he spent just short of £400m on new players during five transfer windows at United. snip
