I would say a 2nd place finish in a weak group and then a crushing defeat in the first knockout stage (which so could happen if we draw one of the monsters and play like we have been for the last multiple weeks) is not going to be anything great at that point the main achievement will be that 3rd place that we somehow eeked out that even got us into the CL in the first place the only silver lining is that we can then be more free to concentrate on a top 4 this year so fucking pissed we only got one point out of 6 versus shit Valencia

Chilwell will cost £40-50m more, so I tend to agree IF money is going to limit us (which IF we do not drop £120m or so on Sancho and also do NOT sign any CB but Ake (which is a nightamre outcome for me) then there is ZERO reasons to not pay the iron price for Chilwell, especially if we snag Werner for only £25m or Hålandwho si only £17m for our CF lets say we bag Håland (17m) and make no move for any CB save for Ake (so so fucking foolish but this is just a 'for example') (40m) and then say we spend £60-70m on a winger (so no Sancho) (70m) that is only £117-127m total spent so far with that amount and then take into account revenues (if we close out all the dregs on loan and then sell AC and Alonso, Barkely, etc dregs from the current 25-man squad) fucking around £450-500m net in transfer revenue (counting Hazard, Morata, etc etc etc etc etc fom the past multiple windows and then this January/Summer 2020 sales and subtracting out Pulisic and Kovacic) anyway you slice that we have the goddamn money to buy Chilwell AND a top CB as well (as that is only around £150-160m more for both) on top of the first 3 buys, it is pure gaslighting to say we do not if we did that (buy Chilwell and say Romagnoli) its still leaves around £200m (£250m IF we buy Telles and not Chilwell) or so in net PROFIT (strictly counting only transfer fees and loan fees) when you count up the multiple windows (which some here will call bollocks on but I do not roll that way, as the bloody money doesn't disappear and also FFP is over a rolling 3 year window) if we do fail and just cap it at around 150 to 200m (if even that high) TOTAL spend for January AND summer that will not shock me, as all I have been lead to believe (new info in the last month or so) tells me the club is now in a pure wealth extraction mode, not a spend and invest large amount of money mode

Am I correct when I say the only way we can win the group is if we beat Lille and Ajax draws with Valencia? We would have 11 points, the same as Ajax, but we beat them in the head to head If Valencia wins and we win, the Valencia wins the group, as they have the head to head over us. Obviously, an Ajax win and they win the group no matter what, and then we only need a draw to grab 2nd. If we draw with Lille, we are fucked with anything other than a an Ajax win. A loss and we are out no matter what. I have to say, we are probably also fucked if we do not win the group, as we will more than likely draw a monster side in the very next game as the 2nd place team. Unless the dippers fuck up, the ONLY team that we would perhaps be favoured against in the round of 16 would be the winner of Group G (RB Leipzig or (only if they lose) Zenit (if Zenit wins and Leipzig loses) the other winners are a nightmare (the overall best 6 teams in the world, basically, the only way it could have been worse is if Real Madrid had been in Group G and won it) Liverpool (unless there is a HUGE upset) Barca PSG Bayern Shitty Juve As a group winner, the main biggest threats we might draw would be Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid (if they get 2nd, which they should easily as they play a shit Lokomotiv team at home and Bayer Leverkusen plays Juve) Napoli, Inter (or more likely Dortmund as Inter play Barca and Dortmund play a shit Slavia Praha team so a huge bullet dodged there more than likely for someone, and you have to then rate Inter to win the EL), and finally Spuds

Why Chelsea should avoid signing Wilfried Zaha https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/club-news/why-chelsea-should-avoid-signing-wilfried-zaha/ Chelsea reportedly still holds an interest in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha and may make a move as early as January. Should Chelsea be targeting him though? Here is why Chelsea should avoid signing Zaha. The bare numbers are always a good place to start. In 15 Premier League starts for Crystal Palace this season, the Ivorian has managed just two goals and one assist. Last season, in 34 appearances, the 27-year-old managed 10 goals and five assists. Last season’s numbers are relatively impressive considering that Zaha is playing round a team that does not possess the quality that Chelsea does. However, his numbers this season will be of concern for those involved at Stamford Bridge. If you compare Zaha’s numbers with those in Blue this season, it puts into question why Chelsea would go after the Ivorian. Christian Pulisic, Chelsea’s summer arrival from Dortmund, has three more goals and one more assist than Zaha in five fewer starts. Willian, a player whose time at the club may be coming to an end, has also managed greater returns. He has scored the same number of goals as Zaha but provided two more assists in 11 league starts. snip

all I want is good faith, HARD attempts to sign (January or in the summer) 1 Sancho (unless Dortmund set his price well above £110 or £120m, if they want £150m or more they can go fuck themselves) even £110m yields Dortmund atm 131m bloody euros. I SO hope we do NOT buy Zaha if we fail on Sancho, as Palace will never sell him for a fair price (40m or so) and even if we get him for around 50m, I have major doubts on him, he is playing like trash this year (tracking to 5 league goals, five league assists on a team that if they had won and not drawn with the horrid Watford side (he was rotten in that game), would be tied for the FIFTH most points in the EPL, trailing only us, Shitty, Leicester and the Dippers) 2 Chilwell (and if we fail I beg the club to buy either Telles (£33.5m RC) or Grimaldo (£50m RC) as Gaya is too expensive (£84m RC) and the drop-off after those 4 is massive atm in terms of players actually available, and even if EVERY SINGLE LB in Europe were available, the only names to add who are WC or at least a huge upgrade would be Robertson, David Alaba, Júnior Firpo, and Ferland Mendy, as Alex Sandro turns 30 in 13 months, and Jordi Alba is 31 in a few months..........MAYBE you could possibly add Sergio Reguilón (on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid) 3 Werner and/or Håland (crazy low COMBINED release clauses of only £42m for both) after them it is even more of a crapshoot and the prices SKYROCKET 4 Romagnoli (try in January at least then in summer) OR Skriniar (summer only is possible) OR Konate (again he can only be had in summer) to replace Zouma, AC can be sold and we buy Ake for around the same price as AC will fetch (maybe 5m additional max) Ruben Dias now has a 100m euro release clause, so he is off the table IMHO extra: 5 A real crunching DMF-type (Thomas Partey with a low £42m release clause looks a steal) or barring that, a hybrid type like Camavinga (my personal choice) but I think this position will wait until 2021 unless a great deal comes along I am not even going to get into the weeds or RB and Azpi, that subject has been beaten to death and a backup RB is the amongst the least of our worries atm, all I will say is I never want to see him at LB ever again, he is shambolic there

agreed and the only player on the planet worth £200m+ is Mbappe, but his salary demands will be nearer to Messi-level than they are to Hazard-level, so his total 5 year price, IF you got him for ,£250m or so in total transfers fees would be half a billion quid if he accepted 1 million quid per week. Messi makes CRAZY money in salary, bonuses and add-ons a little over 100m euros per year (£88.4m) https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1088284/Lionel-Messi-wages-salary-earns-net-worth-Barcelona-contract

Vardy has been the CF for a title winning side and is now the striker for the 2nd place team (and the only side with a even a remote chance to catch the dippers) in his current form he would start for all but a few (VERY few) clubs he is streets ahead (strictly speaking of the present) in terms of returns of Lacazette and Arse plays 2 strikers at times he would start for Manure (they are starting Martial as their CF) he would be devastating on Shitty, although would not bench a healthy Aguero atm if Vardy was 23 to 26yo and in the same form he is now, he would go for £150m plus now (English, tracking to 35 plus league goals, relentless, sniper, so pacey (even at 32 he is still so fast)
-
Nathan Aké is left footed Can he be shifted to playing at LB fulltime? I do not know the answer. Is he good enough at crosses, dribbling, and pace? He played 3 games at LB in 2018-19 and one game there this season.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/andreas-christensen-angers-maurizio-sarri-13898875 But it has emerged that Christensen did not stick around to see the final whistle. The Times reported on Wednesday that, having watched Sarri use his third and final substitution to introduce Callum Hudson-Odoi at the Emirates Stadium, the Danish defender decided to head to the dressing room to use the toilet. Christensen did not reappear despite there still being 15 minutes, including stoppage time, of the game left to play but when asked about the incident Sarri insisted he was concerned about the health of his player. “I was worried, more than anything," Sarri said, laughing. "You know very well that, on match days, Christensen always has stomach ache.

Romelu Lukaku and Chris Smalling respond to Corriere dello Sport’s ‘Black Friday’ headline Italian football has been plagued by incidents of racism already this season https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/chris-smalling-as-roma-corriere-dello-sport-black-friday-headline-romelu-lukaku-a9234661.html

José Giménez is the same height as Tomori (1.85m) Godin is 1.87m (same as Kalidou Koulibaly, who Napoli for years tried to lie and say was 1.95m, lololol) so neither are really giants they both are superb at positional play and ball playing proof on Kouibaly's height, btw Patrick Vieira is 1.93m Marek Hamšík is 1.83cm, same height I am Giorgio Chiellini is 1.87m

2 2 now btw

the Lille game and the spuds game are two of the biggest games of the year one can knock us out of the CL and if we go down v spuds and also fuckup in the EPL game before it or after our top 4 chances are then set on a course where they can become in dire straights going forward
