Essien and Ramires are different players tbh, the only thing they share is their work-rate. But yeah, I too wasn't excited when he joined but he's made a big impact. Good for him and now the curse of the Chelsea #7 is gone. Only #9 is left..
This is always the case with Mata in big games. Mata on the left wing is fine against the inferior sides but in big games, he needs to be played in the middle. Whenever he was moved to the middle due to tactial changes in a big game, he was our main man. He's not a winger.
Unless Sturridge scores a hattrick every game in the middle I don't understand why we would sacrifice the goals we get regularly from a non-striker.. EDIT: I now realise you're referring to the fact that Drogba will be away for the AFCON.
Those are the kind of players that bring you European succes though. They don't do it on their own but are the main men. We really need some magic, Mata can be that player but he needs better, mostly right types, support.
He sucks at tracking his marker though. Let's hope he's gives his all to challenge Romeu. Damn King is playing. Their defence is a mess without him. Hope Drogba's fired up.
He started off great in his first few months at Juve but then just faded away. He's very fast and pretty good on the ball but he seems to lack imagination and intelligence. Wouldn't mind him joining as a squad player at all if he ne's not too expensive as he's better than Kalou. But he's not the enforcement we're looking for imo, we should still go for someone like Hazard for the left wing.
If that's true then there are some true idiots out there who apparently know little about football. But it doesn't even matter what fans on a forum say. Except for the manager, only the media can actually get to a player and there's no way a young (English) player would receive stick if he didn't perform after coming on. Even if he was playing reserve football, it wouldn't have mattered. He outgrew that level of football a long time ago.
Fair enough, personally I don't get it. I'm not asking for him to start regularly or even play every week but he's hardly playing and he's not developing.
Nahh I'm talking about the attitude and the way we played. We didn't really go for it and were ready to settle. Can't ever be the case against the likes of Wigan imo.
Mehh Robben is a pure winger and his game is based far more on skill than CR and Sturridge. CR and Danny both make up for average/poor performances by scoring a goal all of sudden.
Some points: - We rely too much on Mata to create something. - Sturridge needs to learn not to dribble so much and to keep it more simple. - Drogba really needs to be more of a presence in the box And this is what's annoying about Mata's drifting, we lack a threat from the left wing.. The main reason why I'm hoping for a left winger so Mata can move into the middle, the area where he spends most of his time anyway.
Haha I'm sorry but Van Buyten made me laugh. He's such an average defender, prone to make idiotic mistakes. Kompany is definitely great but Hazard never played in the Jupiler League though. And I like Witsel, he's got potential
Busquets plays at CB a lot, especially before Masche moved to Barca, and he does a decent job most of the time. Can't imagine him as a CB at any other team though.
Why don't we go for Podolski? Able to play on the left and in the middle and he's willing to leave (23 goals in 32 league matches in the year 2011 btw).
