Perspective. Arsenal at time of writing are being beaten at home by WHU a few days after being knocked out by some small Romanian outfit in the EL, and we're moaning about a draw with Swansea after going down to 10 men for 40 minutes. Shows the difference in the size of club, imo.

Tbh I wanted to see Oscar & Willian in the CM regardless of yesterday - Cesc is just too vulnerable. BTW having Mikel-Matic-Cesc midfield, I will expect us to lose by a large margin. Aguero, Sterling, and Silva will rip them a new arsehole, while the pace of Matic-Ocar-Willian makes it a solid if slightly less dynamic (although I wouldn't say that much less) midfield. Plus, Oscar fucking shoots rather than contracting Arsenal disease and trying to pass it into the net. Much of the reason why I like the kid, and it seems that when he plays well, the whole team plays well. Consequently (although also the 10 men dilemma) when he went off the team went to shit. And as for RB, well it simply can't carry on. IMO, Zouma is quicker and a better all round defender, better at closing people down and therefore a better candidate for RB than Iva, and I want to see him in the team, since Cahill has recovered himself and actually saved us from quite a few scares. IMO - Oscar free kick and a Costa goal. BTW Oscar is better at free kicks than Cesc is, I think. Set piece delivery is about the same.

In some ways it will improve him as a player as it hones various qualities such as stamina and passing ability. Obviously medium term he belongs at CB but short term getting in the team should be a priority.

In all fairness, from my view Cahill was easily the best defender on the pitch yday. Iva is getting too slow now, I'd prefer Aina or even Zouma play there to give some pace while we wait for a true RB.

Don't understand why he was taken off, other than Diego he is the only one willing to take the responsibilty of shooting. It's a juge problem, Matic, Iva, Cesc, and Hazard all did it multiple times in the match. Oh how times change, 3 months ago it was just me and Gilvo standing up for him, now he is the forum's golden boy.

Please just wait. Next year MvG and Pasalic should replace Ramires and Mikel respectively. I don't think I can stand any more youth players being stunted by knee jerk signings... If he would replace anybody, it would be Cesc, he would be redundant if we signed Koke and if we tried to shoehorn both into the team I reckon we would end up with the Cesc-Iniesta situation again. (n.b. I am NOT saying I want that to happen) Honestly, the team we have is surprisingly complete. Oscar is showing quality. Hazard is becoming world #3 at the tender age of 24 without being pumped full of hormones. Cesc is in his prime. Matic will become even better. Courtois will become the best i the world over the next 2 years. Zoum Zoum is the 2nd best young CB in Europe (what a time to the a coach of the French NT), Costa if he pulls out of his injuries can easily score 30 goals. An LB that can develop over time a.k.a Baba and I think that's as good as it will get.

For all the bleak outlooks, the best case striker scenario for Patty and Dom is that they both have fantastic loans, Falcao is poor (do we actually have a buy option?) and then Bamford is good enough to take Remy's place and we get some money for him, and Solanke can be 3rd choice. All of the aboves are ifs, but are also all perfectly possible. Similarly, next season I expect Pasalic to stay with us (I was expecting a recall this season, tbh) as he would be perfect in the pivot, or in the middle of a diamond with Cescy. I also expect RLC to be our 4th choice, and if he does not rapidly improve will be sent out on the loan train. Furthermore if Iva declines then Azpi will likely go to the RB, if Baba lives to potential at LB then Dasilva may have his opportunity to be 2nd choice LB.
