  1. Yeah he could probably have gotten a goal today too. If anything, the only fault I can find is that he stays a bit too narrow and doesn't close the winger down fast enough sometimes.
  2. So far in 4 matches: 1, 1, 2, 3 goals. Hopefully he keeps up this pattern (is it called the Fibonacci sequence? I can't rmb) and puts 5 past Hart On a side note does anyone else think he looks like Oscar's dad?
  3. I agree. With Costa and a proper playmaker in Cesc, you can see we move the ball so much faster. This creates that extra bit of space for our players as their defences are not properly set up, unlike last season which was frustrating and slow. I can always see a goal on the horizon now and there is always a good probability to nick one from a set piece given our aerial prowess and someone with good delivery.
  4. Costa would be MOTM followed closely by Cesc and Hazard. Honestly, if Hazard maintains this level of performance it wouldn't really matter how many goals and assists he directly claims. In my opinion, he is the catalyst to our offense. Without him, we may have never got off the mark. It was amazing to see how he was constantly pressuring them and eventually it paid off. Our defence does look shaky though, and this is the consequence of playing a more offensive game. It's still early days and I expect Mou will eventually sort it out and minimise such chances. My one concern would be that we might burn out a bit early with our higher intensity and start picking up injuries. Thankfully we have good squad depth. I think we should go all out for the next 2 games and play more fringe players in the CoC to rest our more important ones. A draw at the Etihad would be a decent result. However, if we manage to pull away from our main rivals now, it would take a great effort from them to catch up to us. I recall Fergie commenting how difficult it was to play catch up with Mou. A bit optimistic, but we might just lead all the way.
  5. I think Messi and CR has given us really high expectations for young players nowadays. I mean they were really freaks of nature. But I also think that playing in la liga helps them as well. The more physical PL would restrict the number of goals scored imo. Now I actually think that he's happy to assist because that's what's in his mind first. While I would prefer if he was much more objective with his dribbling like Robben when he starts flying at defenders, I don't think he will hit 50goals/season. It's simply his style and personality. You can make improvements here and there such as his work rate but at the end of the day you are what you are. It's unrealistic to change too much. Lamps was a great midfielder but he was never a pirlo type, Cesc wasn't as effective at Barca because his style was more direct. Similarly, I don't think Hazard would become a shoot on sight kind of player the way that CR is. This is just my personal opinion of course.
  6. Damn that is so epic if it was true. But I think thats overkill I mean Brana alone should be enough to win a war
  7. True, he can be a bit predictable, and his league record is definitely a blemish in his CV. While I think that he isn't mou, pep or SAF level, he should probably be just below that just based on his cup record. I'd definitely take him over Wenger or RafaAnother question just popped into my head, do you think some managers are better suited to certain clubs? I think that Mou and Simeone really suit an underdog club that is not expected to win. The mentality that "it's us against the world" just seems to fit. On the other hand I get the feeling that people like Carlo and Pep slot into "big" clubs with superstars quite well. Maybe they benefit much more from a stable club.
  8. I think it is a bit early and I'd place him somewhere near Klopp. If he wins the league again then I think we can say he is something special. Out of curiosity, how come people don't rate Carlo as high? I think he's a great manager and knows how to work with people. 3 CLs is definitely not a fluke too. Is it due to his poorer league record?
  9. United could outmuscle us financially at the moment and FFP does maintain the status quo. I doubt money is his main objective though. I agree with you that I think he is ruthless enough to take it, but the circumstances here at Chelsea must be really dire if he would want to go there. In my opinion, I think his time at Madrid really made him appreciate the fans that he has here. For him to forsake us would require almost everything to go wrong now.
  10. I meant the part where he might seek a new challenge. He seems to have this insatiable appetite to achieve more. He doesn't get too caught up in the celebrations whenever he wins something because he is always thinking about the next one. I doubt he would go to United as it would be a step down when he succeeds here. He has already won it in England so that probably wouldn't be his idea of a challenge. Becoming an international coach is not so far fetched as he did make comments about managing either Portugal or England. But I think that will probably be much further down the road.
  11. I get your point but having completed the club set of pretty much every major trophy from England, Spain and Italy, I think he would set his sights on something else. I suspect he may manage an international side. Can you imagine if he wins either a Euro or a World Cup or possibly both? His status as the greatest manager of all time would be unchallenged.
  12. I hope Samsung sticks with us and fork out more money. As many others pointed out the words just seem to fit very well on the shirt. It doesn't scream out "LOOK AT ME" but instead feels part of it. Hopefully they realise that sticking with us could be very beneficial for them in the long run as our squad seems poised to become a dominant force in football for the next 5-10 years.
  13. Damn it was a nice watch. It did make me kinda sad to know that Didier would probably not get such an ending again though. That was seriously the perfect sendoff.
  14. Good point, I forgot for a moment that Schurrle's best position is the LW. I guess starting on the right and switching around may be the best solution.
  15. I think we shouldn't risk it as it's still too early in the season. If this becomes a long term problem it could be more detrimental in the long run. We should have enough quality to beat Swansea at home and the Man City game is much more important.
  16. Also, injuries are probably going to happen to our other AMs and when the games come thick and fast he will definitely get games. But do you guys think he should be on the RW? I know that is his favored position but I think he can make us a bit too narrow since he almost always decides to cut in. It happened quite a few times in preseason where he could have taken a shot with his right but decided to cut in instead and lost possession. I think he needs to brush up on his right foot to keep defenders guessing. If not, he may become too predictable.
  17. May be a tad overrated. But even Jose rates him highly and said he was the best young player in the world cup. Now obviously world cup performances alone can be deceiving but he has been playing well consistently and I think that is what is really important. You have to always give good performances every game and this guy can do that. If he continues on his upwards trajectory he could be one of the best midfielders in a few years. But the price the media is throwing around (I believe in the region of 60M) is what really puts people off. I don't think we should break the bank for him because our midfield is really stacked at the moment and FFP does compel us to make smarter buys. However, if for some mad reason we could get him at a good price, say about the same we got for Matic, he could turn out a worthy investment.
  18. Agree with this. It does benefit us to a certain degree though since there wouldn't be another City popping up. The Prem is competitive enough as it is so I could live without it. The one to be careful of right now is United since this really benefits them. If they miss out on top 4 for a few seasons then I think as a whole, the gap between the New Rich(Us, City) and them would be closer. We may have had a brilliant transfer window but I doubt we can pull off deals the magnitude of Luiz and Mata every season.
  19. I think it's crucial that they don't get top 4 this season for us to close the gap on them. They are really starting to flex their financial power but thankfully they didn't create a proper balanced and functional team yet. I think it's still an unknown to how they would perform for the season but so far it looks like that 3-5-2 isn't working in England.
  20. I don't even think he picked up injuries consistently until he was rushed back towards the end of last season and the world cup probably made it worse. I hope he is given proper time to heal because his long term fitness will be crucial to our success this season. Why the hell did Spain even play him when it was a meaningless friendly and he was known to be nursing an injury?
  21. If I remember correctly Petr got injured in the Semi, the next game was against Sunderland @ SB. So that would mean only 4 games left in the prem and the 2nd leg of the semi. . But this is all irrelevant anyways and I think you get my point
  22. Do 2nd choice goalkeepers have to make 5 appearances too? I think it's much harsher on them if so. Imagine if we didn't slip up the final 4 games of last season and won the league but Mark couldn't get his medal. It would be terribly unfair. Perhaps there should be an exception for them.
