What away goals ? The away goals would be in their favour. Forget it. It was not Xamax or Young Boys who managed to beat as 3-1 in a first leg match. It's Real.
-
Look first of all you have to admit Real Madrid is the eternal team. When your grandchildren have grandchildren they will be still winning trophies. The 4-0 defeat against Barcelona maybe was a blinder as Ancelloti fielded an experimental team. I don't fancy us. I might slightly if it was 2-3 or stayed 1-2 or a 2-2 draw. Also I believe Tuchel's system was disastrous. Against Brentford the same, but maybe he did n't care. But tonight ? Allow all those free runs to Madrid ?
-
Lukaku is definitely sh*t (bring back Pato). But the defensive formation still intrigues me. Why those open spaces ??? In a match like this Mou would endeavour to secure the clean sheet as the first priority.
-
The player on his right, Thiago, was by far the safest option to pass the ball than Rudiger. He also miskicked and Rudiger who had a yellow card could not afford to foul Benzema. Now really, that was from the days of Jugoslavia - Zair 10-0 with commentator Malcolm Allison saying nasty things about Zair.

Submarine will lift this cup.

Mendy's mistake was the exact copy of the one against Brentford. In the other two goals I don't think you can blame any individual player, Mendy or Christensen or Thiago. The same for the goals we conceded against Brentford. It was the defensive formation. Real attackers were having a party. Was that the way Chelsea defended last year in the final against City ? Somehow Tuchel thought Real was like Orient or Krasnodar.
-
Half expected this. Apart from Mendy, it was Tuchel who bottled it big way. He approached the match as if it was Orient we were playing with.
-
Real too conceded four.
-
I believed they were going to return stronger after the international break. These men were partying everyday.
-
Clearly there was no defense present.
-
So we owe it and have to pay back in 2199 (if Abramovitch plays ball that is).
-
He says because of Benzema's absence Ancelotti mixed up the positions of the players so horribly no one knows where he is on the pitch.
-
The Spanish commentator says it is. Anyway they seem to have settled for four.
-
Madrid minus Benzema torn apart in the el classico.
-
Ha'. If he wants to make a profit then it's worse than public ownership. In such cases we see teams making a spectacular trajectory and then slide backwards for years.
-
Why don't the department stores have shirts ? I can't find in Attica or Notos Gallery - only internet.
-
Candy-Gove, Abramovitch-Putin. What the heck ?
-
Next match: Newcastle
-
Will go through to the stage of four: Chelsea, Pool, City more likely than not, Villarreal

Why should football clubs have rich presidents ? Can someone explain this to me ? As you know I am antisocialist while also anti-brexit because brexit it's looney tunes. But just the same I 'm open minded. So in every team there could be a technocrat as president. An LSE graduate, not one who has barely finished high school. Also a team of football savvies to advise him, but none of them would be as rich as either Abramovitch or the Glaziers. If the club breaks even then we have Mandy and Kai Havertz in the team. If not then we have the Sutton goalkeeper and Drinkwater. How would that affect things ? What comes to mind is Man United in the Frank O Farrel year. Remember what happened then ? Many United stars left the team because they were getting old. Bobby Charlton, George Best, Stepney and others. As a result they had a very bad year and were relegated. But they came first in attendance ! Not Don Revie's Leeds United, not the new fangled European giants Liverpool, but United ! This means they could fix things by themselves, without the help of a millionaire investor. Or could n't they ? Also the ticket prices were flat for all the teams back in those days. The accepted modus operandi is of course that a rich guy is needed to run a club. Yet it does n't always work. Some of them are called "crabsmen" by the fans. What is the explanation ?

Next match Newcastle it says. That was eight matches ago.
-
The Pep team is pissed now. I want them.
-
Our record for free kicks from the semicircle is appalling. We have n't scored since Willian.
-
Final result: Lille 1 - Chelsea 4.

Depends what they call pens really. I remember in a match against United the ball was going in and hit the outstretched arm of a United defender on the line. But the United man was looking the other way, no pen, no protests, no protests in the forum either.
