Why is there a war in Gaza happening now ? It's simple to explain: Things were going towards a negotiated solution, albeit with obstacles and backward steps. To radicalize the muslim world against Israel Hamas decided to attack. They knew Israelis would take them on in Gaza, but that's what they wanted. 7/10 without any Israeli retaliation would be useless for them. Also Gaza is not really a strategic point for them. They could not use the Gaza settlement to defeat Israel (like for example Hitler could use Stalingrad and the surrounding area to defeat the Soviets in the war or the Japanese could use the Coral sea to defeat the Americans in the Pacific). Gaza was a sacrificial lamb, deliberately so. At the same time the provocation was so big Israelis could not possibly fail to react. Could the Palestinians do something else on 7/10 ? Something with the same effect but avoiding murdering the innocent babies ? What might that be ? They could n't.

Not only the rich but also people who are insured. So my father, a senior civil servant, was insured by the state. As a youngster I enjoyed the same benefit because it was for the entire family, but not now of course - so I 'm NHS (our equivalent). But anyway nobody is immune and you don't want to have to pay lots of money even if you are rich. So it's strange to me. Greek NHS do crazy things sometimes it's true. Last May I went to a specialist for a check up. That one was private and he said "you 're ok but let's also do a scan to be complete". The family GP concurred, he says "let's do that - at the general hospital". So I go there early in the morning with the recommendation. I did n't know nothing and it appears one has to ask for an appointment with a hospital doctor for the specialist's recommendation to be accepted. So a crazy woman in woke appareil comes over and she puts her finger on my nose and wanted to call the police ! I say "call the police and you will see what will happen to you". She did n't even care to explain me the rule - I would n't react if she had. Then the GP who was accompanying me yanked me out and he said "don't speak to anyone about it" - he got terribly scared. The body scan costs 50 quid if you go private ... It's these things I suppose some people don't want.

I wonder why the Americans don't like free health care. It's not as if the rich are immune to diseases, if they were then it's a different matter. On the other hand if we are against excessive public spending then the so called "free education" is the logical target. Free education does n't exist. If it existed then again it's a different matter but it does n't. It does n't exist so it's money wasted.

No shame losing to Bradford City in 2015 - it was odd man out result. Now we are living in the age of the Boehly-Poch "achievements".

It's the same for everyone from the premier to Viet Nam first division.

Werner has his eyes fixed on the floor when infront of goalmouth. Cannot drop a shoulder. He was playing against paper thin defenses in Germany. The one who failed as CF with Chelsea but is shining now in Spain is Morata. Do you know who was the one who almost never missed chances when face to face with the goalkeeper ? Mitroglou (Olympiakos Piraeus - Fulham - Benfica). Not much of a football player but he was the one to be trusted as a scorer.

The royal family is half Greek first of all. But these days they can do nothing. The Tories would go about with their heads tucked underneath their arm for starters.

The English are wild peoples, the Scots are civilized. It seems the English are left with very few friends nowadays. Back in 2006 I was invited to the VIP of Athens race course. I sat on a table in the company of some Irish and there was an embassy attache with them. The Irish wanted to sell horses to Greek owners. It was world cup days and some of the tv screens were broadcasting football from Germany. Our attention was drawn to the tv screens showing the race horses of course but from somewhere I heard the announcement England had scored against Equador. So I says "wow, nice, England one up". The embassy man became rather uncourteous "shame on you" he says "you support the scum".

Maybe. But pool is close by even if they don't win it. What is Klop's secret ? Wins the premiership year after year. They are not the richest of clubs. In the transfer market we smacked them with Caicedo and Lavia, also not many seasons ago they had to unload their star player Luis Suarez to Barcelona. Early in the season I expected City to be a lot better than us. Also Arsenal, given Arteta's very succesful last season. But the rest and in particular Liverpool, no. I believed they were a spent force with Tsimikas in the starting eleven. So what is his secret ?

We fell asleep after the 3-0. Barkley was their best man. I don't know why we sold him - we don;t have better players.

Was Critias his great uncle ? But he was a cross-bencher to the tyrants so they offed his head. So Plato's family was not considered a junta family, rather something like the family of modern day Mitsotakis.

I used to believe that only people with higher education should vote. That way entities like Trump, Hitler, Saddam Hussein would stand no chance. This is the system proposed by Plato. Plato was a conservative and in fact the son of one of the thirty tyrants of Athens. But the Athenians did not hold this against him because his father, Kritias, was the good guy among the thirty tyrants. The others had him executed because he wanted to democratize the system - so in fact the Athenians eventually killed 29 tyrants, not thirty. Plato's teachings were lost for centuries. Other systems prevailed, Roman empire, Tamerlan, Genghis Khan ... until eventually the age of enlightenment came. But now it was the Tories against the Whigs. The Whigs wanted universal suffrage so as to manage to win an election. The Tories wanted to keep the pocket boroughs and they were into milk snatching and other Tory things. About Plato's cultural elit nobody gave a thought and became nobody's political platform. So it continues to this day, with universal suffrage having won in the meantime. There are things against Plato's system though if we think about it carefully. Initially the elections will be elections between softies of either party. The extremist and the demagogue will have no chance. But next ? Next the cultural elits of the two parties will coalesce, forget their ideological differences and oppress the rest. A Soros kind of system, with Thunberg, plastic bags, property tax. So it does n't work either way.

It's not impossible although I believe that the old trade union thing the fascists had is gone now. The new fascism is a) against immigrants, b) wants to abolish the right to work.
