  1. Should haven been over by now but still nothing decided.
  2. I 'v been looking at things from a different angle. Potter is unpopular because the club dismissed Tuchel in order to hire him and Thomas Tuchel was an icon. It's unfair for two reasons: a) It's not Potter's fault that the Chelsea board sacked Tuchel, b) the problems we see now existed in Tuchel days as well. Chelsea cannot score goals with the fluency of ages past (Lamps-Didier, Diego-Hazard) but were they doing much better last year ? Surprisingly the problem in the scoring department to an extent disappears against continental opposition, or it looks that way from several results. This may be because the continental teams are not marking people man to man as hard as the premiership teams and this suits the Chelsea forwards. But overall there is a problem and although Potter seemingly has no solution it's not HIS problem. It's a problem he inherited. The way I see it is that the Chelsea attackers are absolutely clueless when they have to play the ball in the vicinity of the semicirlce, in the opponents half. All they can do is lose the ball and hence they are unable to split defenses and create chances. Some other big teams like Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid do not have the same problem and I will of course confront anyone who says to to me "how dare you compare PSG and RM with Chelsea ?". Against whom am I supposed to compare Chelsea, the champions of Europe only two years ago ? Everton or Notts Forest ? So we don't have good enough players in this part of the pitch. Havertz has no business playing there, Sterling little things, Pulisic-Ziyech-Aube no way. Joao Felix looks like an improvement and about Mudryk I don't know if he is going to shine but in his first four weeks with the club he has n't. Lukaku and Werner who are gone now were similarly problematic. I don't know what Boehly plans for next summer but for now those players I mentioned will stay the same if we bring tomorrow Zidane, Pochetiino, Unay Emery or anyone else like that. Having said all that, I 'm not impressed by Graham Potter. It's a gordian knot he has to solve but gordian knot or whatever he has n't solved it. But I think the situation is best described like this: We don't at this moment have a forward line worthy of the history of the club. This is the real problem.
  3. If we don't lose 6-0 but instead we are eliminated on penalties it means Potter stays. There is nothing of significance between now and May, except having to stay in the division, so it means Potter starts next season as well. I can't think of anything more disastrous.
  4. One of the problems Chelsea have in the premier but not in Europe is with man to man marking. Witness the three goals we scored against Real Madrid last year, when under Tuchel things were generally not exactly bright in the scoring department for us. If Dortmund's defense behaves likewise then maybe.
  5. They are level on points with Bayern Munich right now, held to a 0-0 draw against the 5th Freiburg yestarday. Basically we should be put to the sword. Not because they are any sort of European power but because of Potterball.
  6. Potter's story reminds me of a similar Greek situation many years ago. It's the year 1968. The manager of AEK Athens is the legendary Jene Chaknady. This German-Hungarian manager is an absolute myth and he is the best ever manager to manage a Greek team. AEK win the league for 1967-78 handsomly. Yet Chaknady is sacked, They sacked him because he asked for a pay rise. In comes Jugoslav Branco Stankovic, who also was a big name in Jugoslavia. But the fans are cursing him - they want their hero back. This coupled with some strange player contract terminations makes everyone very angry. But Branco Stankovic knew his job. Rebuilds the team, manages to reach the stage of eight in the champions cup (incredible for Greece those years). So he too becomes one of the club legends. In the Potter tragedy, Thomas Tuchel is in the role of Jene Chaknady. But Potter ? He 's been in the club for several months -since the 9th of September 2022- and Chelsea look like an amateur side. He managed to win the champions league group against inferior opposition (Zagreb-Salzburg and what remains of AC Milan). Also some spurious wins such as against Crystal Palace and Leeds. His opponents were wrong at first because Potter had nothing to do with Tuchel's dismissal, but now ;
  7. A bombardier tripler caproni with an F-35. But we won the champions league and they have n't.
  8. We can't play any ball in the vicinity of the semicircle. Absolutely zero - nada - μηδέν. I watched PSG against Nantes (4-2). Nantes is different quality to Leeds-Spurs-the rest perhaps but they are mid table in La Ligue. PSG have a fantastic knack with this sort of football - entering the box with one touch football from the semicircle. Mbappe in the wings does n't generally take part in these movements but it's the genius of the short one of course that helps.
  9. Against Spurs with Taylor. But it was only the last ten-twelve minutes, understandable if you are one up against any opposition. This was 35 minutes of desperation. Potter must go - this was equivalent to a 0-3 defeat against any medium sized team.
  10. So has been Iguain. Auba is useless.
  11. Grimsby played better against Southampton.
  12. We can't reach their area. Only once with Felix. Kai's chance was a counterattack and Fofana's chance was from a corner.
  13. Real Madrid struck a Potter spot yesterday. 90 minutes of pressure but they did not create a single chance - Van Der Stegen had an easy day. The only two chances fell to Barcelona, the goal and another one late in the game.
  14. To lighten the crazy atmosphere: https://fb.watch/iZVOTxt1dU/
  15. If Arteta is some kind of exception what does that prove ?
  16. Amazing. Well, I could ask for compensation from a company if I was sacked and it was n't my fault but the result of some external problems but if it was because of me failing to do the job they would n't pay me my tickets home.
  17. This Chelsea team cannot score a goal even if they enter the pitch with a court order. Why ? We really must try to pinpoint why, as the manager apparently can't. I can think of only four players who could readily solve this problem: - Mbappe - Vinicious - Messi, four years younger if you like - Eden Hazard, partly, also four years younger Never mind those players are beyond the scope of Chelsea to buy them, I 'm just saying if. I don't mention players of past generations because football was different, easier for the attackers. About Haaland I 'm expressing some doubts if he could n't find the free spaces he finds with City. With the above even Potter would have no problem to get results. But are the various players we have now so decidedly inferior, all of them ? This can't be. My opinion is the movement of the ball is to blame (the lack of) and Potter seems unable to improve the work rate of the team. What do you think ?
  18. It's not all due to Potter but the man is unrelated to football. You want him sacked ? Turnout against Leeds 3500 spectators.
  19. I thought it was tomorrow against Dortmund but it is next week. Plenty of time to sack Potter.
  20. I 'm concentrating on the players who are supposed to operate inside the penalty area. Not Mudryk, not Ziyech even as I 'm unhappy with them as well. When inside the area we resemble Sahara desert - any opposition has the clean sheet guaranteed.
  21. From the main suspects - the attack line, Havertz is of course useless, Enzo was very poor today and Sterling is also useless. Those moves Sterling attempts would probably work against an amateur side -Lamia, Ionikos of Greece- but not in the premier league.
  22. Boehly probably thinks he can turn him into Chelsea's Matt Busby.
  23. Spurs are not the mightiest of giants. I was expecting (with not so much confidence) something better against a probably not so crowded defense.
