  1. They made a move for Felix in Jan, so a swap+cash deal could be feasible. Another former City player to go with Gittens, Delap, etc.
  2. I've yet to see a feeder club with a league title or CL in recent years. Dortmund have reached two CL finals, lost them both. Chocked on the final day to give Bayern the league title two seasons ago and haven't won it for over a decade. We as a club have had a history of competing with the best, winning the biggest trophies around. Our participation in the CWC is prime example of that. Sterling and KK were bought during the first window. A lot has changed since then. If anything, we've enhanced Trev's transfer value by recalling. The large majority of business has involved youngsters who are "projects" rather than WC stars. Estevao is the only one who might be seen as the exception, 12 months from now. How can you honestly take comfort from other clubs when we are loaning out the likes of Lukaku & Sterling, paying more than half of their wages in the process? 😄
  3. Will we upgrade them, though? If Palmer regains his form, he'll be after £300k+ by the end of next season. I've been saying this for some time - our model screams "feeder club". Until we win something major or sign someone of elite calibre, my mind won't be swayed. There was talk about Osimhen being viewed as "old" by those within the club last season. If 25 is seriously too old, we might as well be content with struggling to qualify for European competitions.
  4. Napoli aren't in European competition, and Inter are on a three game losing streak since beating Bayern. The points I mentioned still stand. Revisit this post in 12 months time when Napoli have the CL to worry about as well.
  5. His ties with Chelsea have been known for years. Chelsea fan growing up, Drogba is his idol. The ball has been in our court for years.
  6. KK was on their books till Jan & Osimhen is still owned by them. Conte's decision to buy players who fit his style (remember Moses at RWB?!) is working in Napoli's favour. Gilmour was always a top player and you only needed to watch McTominay during his limited appearances for United in multiple positions or for the Scottish NT to see he could thrive in Serie A with his presence. There's no doubting his ability as a manger to win especially in Italy. It's his inability to win over a period of time with the same team (there's a reason he starts to kick up a fuss eventually), and the less said about his European record, the better.
  7. Are Napoli really underdogs, though? They were league champs the season before last. Inter are paying for fighting on all fronts (CL semis, Coppa Italia semis).
  8. There was a stat mentioned earlier during the Napoli game that his squad has played something like 1500 mins less (around 16 games) than Inter. Not to discredit Conte, but he tends to succeed when his sides aren't in Europe. Just look at his time here.
  9. Under this ownership, the vast majority of the players you mentioned were signed or given their current contracts. They only have themselves to blame for coming into a sport they clearly had no clue about (from afar at least) and would make you seriously consider why they owned any sports franchise prior to the takeover. Instead of further hurting the club, those who are really making the trades must eventually put their numerous errors behind them and move on. This may not happen in the near future, but if we were to win a major trophy (the Premier League or the Champions League), would we honestly use the Sterling deal as justification to keep this dated £150,000~ salary cap? With players like Van Dijk and Salah reportedly agreeing to £400k a week, it simply isn't practical at the top. There must, at minimum, be a compromise where players receive appropriate incentives, like goal bonuses, etc. Since Nkunku has been linked to a Premier League move, perhaps Arsenal can help us out again, just like they did with Havertz—for less money, of course.
  10. I totally forgot about Guiu, which just goes to show we have options (like them or hate them) that seriously need to be offloaded before we do any business. He was actually linked to a loan move before Osimhen talk started to go around, so I would have imagine had Osimhen signed, Guiu wouldn't have remained here (probably would have been more beneficial for him too).
  11. It really is. Nkunku pre injury would probably have seen Palmer stuck on the bench for the past two months.
  12. He's contracted for another three years, so we're stuck with him. If he wasn't broken goods, he would be a handy plan b. Just look at his impact in the 4-4 draw at home V City.
  13. I don't think we're going to sign two more CFs to challenge NJ and have Broja and Fofana on the books when we've been playing with one for practically two years in a row.
  14. A huge win and very unlikely CS to boot. Nice to actually take advantage of switch in possession. Madueke & Trev deserve praise.
  15. Caicedo gets lucky avoiding suspension only to end up at RB with Acheampong AND James both on the bench. George not being rewarded with a start is a joke as well.
  16. I don't they'd do that with Penders on the books. If we do go for another GK, I could see us reignited our interest in Hermansen. A GK who just got relegated.
  17. He won't be on the touchline after picking up a suspension, so we'll have to solider on somehow without the genius on the sideline. 😃
  18. We've been banging the same drum for multiple seasons now. A CF with a proven track record is a must this season above all else. On the goalkeeper front, I don't see us going big for anyone. We'll have to settle for whatever is around until Penders is ready (should that day arrive).
  19. Wow! It's worse than I imagined. I still remember our fixture against Arsenal last season where we were cruising until Sanchez decided to take the headlines.
  20. If he seriously goes over there after hitting 30+ goals, he shouldn't be considered by any top club again.
  21. It feels like years since we actually comfortably beat one of the top sides in the league.
  22. You can always thank Arsenal for choking. The fact they've won the same number of league games as City despite everything sums them up. Liverpool will hopefully have nothing to play for when they face us.
  23. In the last 24 hours, I've seen a lot of reports claiming that they've reached an agreement on a £40 million deal for Osimhen (Hojlund may be going back to Italy). It's hard to actually take these reports at face value, considering they don't really care if they are right or wrong. They just want to be the first to report anything & everything.
  24. The way they are dragging their feet with announcing the outcome, I'm starting to feel the same way. If it were so cut and dry, they'd be following a similar fate to Juve.
