  1. Gallagher is doing his best to throw away his career here. Far too rash at times.
  2. Another one of those games where we should be ahead by a few.
  3. Jorgi has his moment. Pathetic challenge from Tielemans.
  4. I totally agree. Most of his achievements at Barca were overshadowed by the players around him.
  5. Here I was hoping Tuchel would field a back four.
  6. He still has the killer touch in front of goal, which we sorely lack.
  7. A number of players can't do that, though. Laporte switched allegiances as a result. That backline, along with Jorgi from the spot.
  8. I don't rate players as highly as I once did who come from Ligue 1, who don't play for PSG tbh. Paqueta has done well at Lyon, but just look at his spell at Milan. Isak is a youngster that has been coveted by a number of big clubs in recent years & could be a special signing should he get things back on track. I must have missed it then, as I hadn't heard any concrete until last week. The only team that went hard for Botman, to my knowledge, was Milan, and they can't compete financially. I answered the second part above.
  9. This deal seemed to come out of nowhere. Their first noteworthy signing.
  10. What a waste of money he turned out to be.
  11. I hope it doesn't, so we can move onto someone whose price matches up with their current ability.
  12. There's a reason they've failed to qualify for the last two WC's. A considerable drop in quality since the 00's.
  13. He's someone I'm surprised we weren't linked with sooner.
  14. I watched a large number of his games for Milan last season and his main/key attributes is, his directness/crazy pace. He is always trying to take on his man whilst being very unselfish more often than not. There isn't anything that I would pinpoint and say is exceptional right now but overall, he has a lot to his game that if he continues to improve, could see him become one of the elite. Also, I'd rather not mention the fact he was voted Serie A's POTY after the performance of the previous year's winner. I'm still of the thinking that, unless a player, especially a younger player, has a record-breaking season, you shouldn't get crazy until you see how they fair in the following season (Nkunku is one that comes to mind). However, it's generally too late to go for such players by then, as we can't go toe to toe with the biggest clubs for a host of reasons, so we either strike while the iron is hot & take a calculated risk or kiss goodbye to the prospect of developing a talent into someone WC. First I've heard of that link. I've only seen glimpses of him, so I couldn't pass judgement either way.
  15. He joined for £23.40m over 7 years ago. You do the maths on how much that would work out now. Going round in a circle isn't the answer either. We've already laid down a damaging precedent, which will only get worse should Auba and Fofana join. Gordon will just be the tip of the iceberg.
  16. I'm failing to understand your point. If your point is about signing young unproven players, just look at our transfer history (Baba Rahman is STILL on our books). If your real issue is actually regarding the fee, overpaying of Cucu and Fofana will do enough damage in that regard.
  17. You were talking about precedents and as I mentioned, that ship has sailed.
  18. As I mentioned, he was out for how many months? It's a massive gamble IMO. Also, we overpaid by some margin for Cucurella as well.
  19. Proven? The guy was injured for how many months? He's only played 37 league games in two seasons. I'd say he's a long way from it.
  20. A record fee for a defender (Fofana) will do that.
  21. Leao is the only recent target that brings some sort of excitement & could help take us to another level should he continue to improve. The less I say about the rest, the better.
  22. There's plenty to back it up, actually. This is something I've mentioned on multiple occasions and don't have the urge to repeat the same things. I'll just say this - Tuchel (in your opinion of how things work) went for Haaland from the get go, but the club was ultimately priced out of any potential transfer; he then decided to go left field & went for someone with a less than stellar past in the EPL. Please answer that conundrum so I have a clearer picture of the ins and outs.
  23. I think it's quite clear that Lukaku was bought due to the desire of others,
