  1. I remember Gary neviile doing a piece on him this season why he hasn't been up to his usual standards, and one of the things he mentioned was the fact that nobody was spotting his clever little runs. And with having Cesc in the team it's very mouth watering to think about the kind of service he can give to him. I think he might be willing to join us. He left arsenal because he wanted to win titles. He has more chance of doing that with us than at United i feel. And he's at that age where he ain't gonna be a regular starter for any big team anymore so he might give it a shot
  2. There are plenty of examples of people with flair who are bad in front of goals so they should def be treated seperatly. And usually people with flair are not exatly people who stretch games with pace either, they are players who need the ball at their feet and we have enough of that. And you don't need blistering pace to get behind a defence, smart running is much more important (like Schurrle)
  3. lol, like Mata? Here we go again.... people overrate flair and underrate work ethic. You need a few flair players in your team to create chances and then a supporting cast to balance it out, otherwise you'll end up like Arsenal. We have enough creative personal (maybe a back up for Cesc is needed). But we we have more need in a more high energy player with a killer instinct to finish off those chances
  4. Muller works his ass off and has a great fighting character of always wanting to be a winner. He'll be a succes wherever he goes just the same as with Costa happened imo
  5. Another player who has trouble scoring goals and likes to recieve the ball at his feet. Not the player we need!!
  6. What exactly is the value of this? does it win you games? Does it win you titles? These are exactly the kind of youtube highlights people drool over and consequently want the player on their team while it's essentially a meaningless bit of skill. There are plenty of players with great technique who can do nice tricks and stuff but ain't going nowhere. While reading alot of forums i'm sure the dream of alot of posters is a first 11 who all constantly do these kind of tricks all over the field without actually threatening the goal. Give me an Oscar sliding block against Arsenal over this any day of the week
  7. Maybe we should loan him out to Fiorentina
  8. But that was mainly due to the fact they insist on playing him in a 2-man midfield and they were overrun in there. But over here with us, with a solid defensive base, he can still be a beast imo. Wouldn't be against it for the right fee and contract
  9. I'm hardly a Mo Salah fan but one thing is for sure: He looks alot better than Cuadrado did in any of his video's. Sign this guy up!!
  10. You also got to consider the lengt of the contract he has left. If it was only something like 2 years, the player can put pressure on the club by not signing an extension which mean they would get a lot less if they sell a year later when he only has one year remaining, but Griezmann still has 4 years left. They could refuse to sell for 2 more years without his value dropping. That being said, i believe we can get a better deal than the reported buy-out clause but i wouldn't be surprised if it is more than 32 M
  11. That's why i wouldn't mind breaking the bank and overpaying for a top class player. If we don't, we probably loose out on everyone. There are a lot of rich teams in need of an overhaul and no player will come cheap this summer, me thinks
  12. Okay, so you were basically meaning a playmaker. But that is what Cesc is supposed to do. Don't think adding another one would improve our team drastically. One of the area's where we suffered heavily this season were the games where we were pressed alot. Nobody could pass their way out of trouble or was strong enough to keep opposing players at bay. Thiago is more someone who would try to pass himself out of the pressing but i don't think that fits with how mou sets out his team, he doesn't like to play risky passes in posession and run the risk of getting countered against. Even though it wasn't Pogba's best match yesterday he was virtually untouchable when he had the ball, could keep players at armslength with ease much like Yaya and would fit better into our current team profile. I can understand your preference for someone like thiago and towards a more possession based playing style with good, quick overall passing but that would require basically an entire overhaul of how we operate. Someone like Pogba would have more effect in our system, Thiago would be better for Van Gaal's United team i feel
  13. I hear this come up so much when people are discussing players. What does that even mean? how do you quantify that? Which player can actually 'control' a game by himself. Would he be able to control games playing for QPR?? It's such a biased quality to associate with players that it holds very little value imo. You control games with your entire team, and if i had to make a guess, we would have more control with a Cesc, Matic, Hazard, Pogba, Willian midfield than a Cesc, Matic, Hazard, Thiago, Willian midfield
  14. And the fanboys for creative midfielders is just as annoying. You can have all the creative players you want, if you don't have goalscorers in your team they can assist, you ain't going anywhere
  15. Bale is still world class in the things that suit him, therefore i would still like him here but only for a reasonable price 60+ million for any player that is Messi or Ronaldo is just way too much But that is never gonna happen with ManU around, they will more than happy splunk 80+ on the best british player
  16. so not only does juventus let one of their stars go, but at the same time they make sure one of their rivals get stronger again. Makes sense. Btw, how would City afford Pogba with FFP after already spending quit some money on Bony
  17. For these kind of posts i wished there was a dislike button Why you want to shatter our hopes and dreams
  18. Really feel this is happening. Alot of rumours and it makes alot of sense. Really excited about this. Not looking good for cuadrado though if it goes through
  19. I agree with you about the big games, but you are not gonna fix that by adding more creativity but with control and killer instinct or a special moment by someone (a la messi against Bayern Munich). Creativity is something you need against a parked bus. But in big games there is usually enough space so that you don't need that killer pass. It's more about making sure you are not being outplayed, gain control and finish them off with the few chances you get. I am not yet convinced that Cesc really contributes to any of that. There is a reason why we were so good at the big games last year with Luiz/Matic in midfield and Ramires/Hazard/Willian/Striker as an outlet. Cesc doesnt really contribute anything to that imo. But neither does any other creative player like a Mata or Isco etc. Koke might be an upgrade on Cesc in that situation but mainly because he is a hybrid between a Luiz and Cesc, not because he is purely a creative player
  20. I see him as replacing what Schurrle did but with a better overall game through his superior technique (i see him making a lot of similar runs that Schurlle would in his compilation videos). Don't think it's a problem he is not creative. Right now we have Willian there who ain't any better at it. Hazard/Oscar/Cesc are supposed to be that. Don't get it in general why people think we need someone creative? We have seen that we have more than enough creativity against a parked bus with Cesc pulling the strings. He just needs people to make runs and we'll be fine. The one thing that has been missing this season is not creativity (which cost us the league last season) but control in midfield in the big games and our lack of a decent counter attack (which is something Griezmann will impact as well) But if we are after Griezmann, the one thing that i have begun to ask myself is, why it doesn't seem we were trying to get Depay. He is used to playing right wing, no? He seems stronger than Griezmann, a better dribbler and has the same nose for goals, plus he would have cost less
  21. The one thing we absolutley need to add to our squad is a goal scoring midfielder. It's no wonder we started to struggle for goals once Schurlle left and Oscar got out of form. Having just Eden and Costa to score goals (from open play) is too predictable and easily countered by opposing teams. I read people thinking the likes of Koke will transform our squad but he is just another supporting player (albeit a great one) but he will find it hard to assist for goals if we have so few players actually looking for one. Therefore i believe someone like Griezmann will have a much bigger impact on the team so I am all for this one, even if he would cost quite a hefty sum of money. But considering we only paid 32M for Costa, who was arguably their most important player I don't think we will spend much more on Griezmann
  22. Mou also said if it was up to him he would keep Cech as a second goalkeeper against his wishes because he wants two quality goalkeepers in his side. So offcourse he wants quality on his bench. And as i said, i probably don't think it is possible to keep all three happy but that will always be a problem. What kind of decent striker will be happy to sit on the bench all the time, it's almost an impossible situation. And if someone like a Benteke would join, I can easily see us losing Remy after the following season but that's just how it goes. And please stop with the money argument, its bs. Since when can't a backup, in probably the most important position, cost any money?? In what other area's are we gonna splunk money away such that we can't afford it? What alternative with that profile are you suggesting for 10 million? Benteke is still young so even if it doesn't work out, he has great resell value and you never run the risk of losing a lot of money. For example: Say you buy Lambert for 4 million, no resale value so you end up losing 4 million when he retires. Say you buy Benteke for 25 million, he stays for 2 seasons and he wants out, you can easily resell a 26 year Benteke for 21 million and end up losing about the same amount of money. It's about improving our squad compared to this season, not keep the status quo
  23. I havent seen anybody deny the qualities of Remy as a backup striker. And the reason why we need another striker is quite clear and has been stated before. With the departure of Drogba it's clear someone has to fill that gap, and preferable someone with the same profile who can give another option when plan A isn't working. And i rather have a quality option to fill that gap (like Benteke) instead of someone like Lambert. Don't think we will be able to keep those 3 strikers happy but i don't think you will be able to do that with any quality strikers but that isn't a reason why we should go for lesser quality
  24. The reason why i like the tought of Benteke joining us, is his profile. He would not just be a 2nd striker behind Costa but he would be a plan B for when games aren't going our way and Costa is being ineffective (kind of what Drogba was supposed to be this season). Imagine a game where we are pressed back and can't get out of defense. We have seen this season that Costa ain't any good in dealing with high balls coming into him. We could then bring on Benteke and play with two strikers with Costa trying to get on 2nd balls. You can see what kind of problems it creates with Aston Villa with Benteke and Agbonlahor. He can change the profile of a game. As for his price. It would be fair to pay around 25-30million for him. There aren't many decent strikers with his profile around + the fact he is young and premier league proven.
  25. If this goes through it's bye bye to cuadrado for sure
