Willian and Oscar aren't better at defending in the pivot. There's two types of defending, down hill or up hill. Oscar & Willian defend up hill as they are very good at pressing and winning the football. Cesc on the otherhand prefers to defend deeper, make smart tackles and smart movement. Both are good at defending but Fab is better in the pivot and Oscar & Willian better higher up.

I disagree about Matic not making a difference, even if he doesn't score or make the tackle he adds confidence to the team, is much faster and more creative on the ball than Mikel, also he isn't a tree off the ball. That said it doesn't change the facts, the midfield wasn't the problem, it was the same problem as we had against Sunderland; no width, no attacking fullbacks, no one to finish chances.

I think he means weakest defensively.

That makes no sense, benching him doesn't improve skills it improves his condition, does he look tired? Yes he does so it would improve him, even Mouriniho said he needs to work on his fitness to improve.

Could him being benched do him good? Maybe Is he not good enough technically? Not great is he

Always believed in David, it just wasn't meant to be at Chelsea because of our play style and defence. His best season was his first season under Carlo when JT still had a bit of speed, and he was world class in the Rafa season with Ivanovic in defence because we played with a high fluid line. Anyway on Cahill, let's be honest he is in the team because he is English and because Jose won't trust someone like Kalas or Zouma next to JT incase they push too high. The only reason we haven't moved Iva to CB and used Azpi and Luis as two attacking fullbacks is because Terry would get destroyed on the counter. Cahill has always been covered up by others, in his first season by the fact we parked the bus, he didn't play much in the Rafa season when for me, we played the best football and the best style, with a high pressing fluid back line, and with Mouriniho he has been covered by parking the bus and Matic, JT, Iva. He is awkward on the ball, ooks like a lost sheep off the ball without Terry holding his hand, he is decent, but he's not a winner or someone that will help us become a memorable team.

Clearly we don't need a win statistically but if we lose we lose first of all our record at the bridge this season and we also lose our spirit. Losing two games in a row for a big team like us, no matter what the game will affect our mentality.

It's not about going unbeaten all season, it's about losing to a poor team where the problems were so obvoius; no width because of no attacking fullbacks and no energy because of poor rotation.
