  1. I most certainly do. Ake would probably do a better job here than Christensen but I don't think he will improve us very much. Rudiger and Tomori are both superior. I watch quite a bit of Leeds, love watching Bielsa's teams they're very entertaining. Ben White is a class player, higher ceiling than Ake. He's a dominant CB, very composed in his aggression, controlling demeanour, comfortable with the ball. He's still fairly young, just turned 22. Obviously he has yet to play in the PL so maybe he could require some time to adapt but I feel he would be worth the gamble. I'm not sure about his height, definitely looked taller than 1.82 but I could be wrong.
  2. It's The Sun so it's probably fake but this is way more exciting than being linked with Ake. For having watched the player a few times, he's very promising. I doubt Brighton will be able to keep him.
  3. If the club is indeed looking at a CB in january, we should be looking at Merih Demiral from Juve. He's not getting much playing time there and might be available. He's potentially world class. Teams in the PL will be all over him. He would be a much better option than Ake for around the same fee.
  4. I don't remember who broke the news for every particular situation, I only remember the one from Golovin because it turned out wrong. Otherwise he publishes the news at the same speed as the likes of Simon Johnson or Matt Law, sometimes earlier sometimes later. Wasn't he the first one to call the CHO contract extension?
  5. He has been very reliable indeed. I think the only time he got it wrong was when he called the Golovin transfer a done deal, but even then it was partially true as the club had slowed down the negotiations(possibly to look at other targets like Kovacic) while Monaco decided to up their bid and convinced him to join them. I guess he wanted to be the first one to break the news, only it backfired on him. With that said, the article is not very convincing. It's all empty talk. Chelsea "very confident" to beat Man Utd is just speculation at this point. The only good bits of information is that he's a real target for the club(hopefully ahead of Zaha) and that we're ready to pay a big fee to get him which is only logical if we're serious about him.
  6. He plays exactly like you would expect a CB playing in a fullback position, decent but nothing special. N'soki has been starting ahead of him in recent games. I rated him when he was first introduced into their team next to Dante under Favre, I still do but he's too raw to be playing for a top club. I think he was meant to leave in the summer but the new investors would not allow it.
  7. We're stacked at right back, sure. but Malang Sarr is a center back playing left back and he's not doing a very good job there. Atal is easily the best right back in france.
  8. We will most definitely renew his contract. Frank can afford playing youngsters right now while still being somewhat competitive precisely because we have veterans like Willian to offer some guarantees and constitency. If we let him go, we would need to replace him with an experienced player. I say this because most Chelsea fans want to get rid of him to make room for the rumored Sancho. Does anyone think we can challenge City/Liverpool in the near future with a front 4 of Pulisic/CHO, Mount, Sancho, Abraham? Pressure will be bigger on Lamps when the transfer ban is lifted and he will be given money to spend. I fully expect him and the board to have higher expectations for next season regardless of wether we are currently overachieving or not.
  9. I'm pretty sure I remember Pochettino saying he would never coach Barcelona because of his ties with Espanyol. Now wether or not he sticks to his word is another thing, he certainly wouldn't be the first one not to. As for the favorite to land him, it has to be United. They've wanted him for a long time and Ole will certainly not last past this season. Bayern could've been an option but he doesn't speak german.
  10. Deeper block is the exact situation where Hazard edges it. KDB with no space will find it difficult to play his game, whereas Hazard's dribbling ability will open teams up. When France sat deep vs Belgium at the WC, which of the 2 was the most dangerous player? Passes are nice but the best thing against these teams parking the bus are dribblers. Even Pep with his fancy system needs dribblers (see Sterling, Sane, Bernardo, Mahrez).
  11. Maybe Hazard is easier to contain because teams put more players on him? I don't think any coach in their right mind would prioritize isolating KDB before Hazard. Eden is deadly on 1vs1, that makes him by default the more dangerous player.
  12. He will be in no hurry to extend his contract especially if we made contact with him.
  13. I just hope his replacement isn't Coutinho. Nicolas Pepe or Leroy Sane if he is available would be nice.
  14. He missed Huddersfield, Southampton and Wolves. He will be playing tomorrow and no doubt scoring.
  15. Are there any reasons we should stick with Sarri any longer than this? We've been awful for months now, showing no signs of improvement and we can still save our season if we win the Europa League.
  16. It's not a Chelsea game this season if the score isn't 0-0 at half time. Now hoping Everton makes more mistakes and Hazard works his magic to somehow open the score.
  17. It's a shame Monaco appointed Jardim back, he would have been perfect for the job.
  18. Personally, I hope we won't buy him. talented but he doesn't offer much threat going forward and his defensive game is perhaps on par with Barkley which doesn't say much. Not to mention he's highly rated and would cost much more money than he's really worth. Keep the money and try buying either of Ndombele or Aouar IMO.
  19. Hopefully the club learns something from this. Best youth product we've produced in ages at the best time possible and we still managed to screw this up. I'm afraid this is no Kakuta or Musonda situation, this kid is the real deal. At least when City lost Sancho they had a shitload of talent available blocking him. Club has no excuse and neither does the manager.
  20. Almost 50M for a backup player would have been too much. If the stories about Barella unwilling to come in january are true, I think that means Ampadu will be playing more from now until the end of the season.
  21. Someone needs to beat United and break their momentum. Confidence and the feeling of freedom post-mourinho is making them a real threat to our top 4 chances.
  22. I don't know if this has been posted here or not. https://www.marca.com/en/football/international-football/2019/01/18/5c41c38ce2704ed4668b45cc.html It gives more insight about the loan conditions. This is Marca so they might not be too reliable but it makes more sense considering Juventus wants to offload the player.
  23. It's the DailyMail quoting The Sun, in other words fake news.
  24. According to RMC, PSG are negotiating with Zenit although no formal offer was made despite the reports. Negotiations are going on verbally, an offer doesn't need to be made for a deal to be reached. Zenit are asking for a lot of money which cooled Chelsea's interest. PSG still interested in Weigl but Dortmund informed them once again of their unwillingness to let the player go. PSG remains hopeful something can be done during the last days of the transfer window.
  25. Don't get me wrong. He's a very talented player and one extemely pleasing to watch but that doesn't translate to him being a world class player. His production is poor for his amount of talent and he's a liability defensively. As for scoring a lot of goals, you might wanna check his stats. He's not a reliable goalscorer and probably never will be. Even at Liverpool when he was the focus of the team (post Suarez departure), his stats were not crazy. Sure, he had that spell when he scored long rangers but it didn't last very long. Salah and Mane are both superior players and so are Dembele and most obviously the best player in the world. He was signed to replace Iniesta in Barcelona but they quickly realized he can't play in midfield and they had better players for the forward positions.
