SPTC Sources have heard that Chelsea officials have held fresh talks with the representatives of Rennes centre back Jeremy Jacquet. The 20-year-old, who is also an U21 international for France, has many admirers in world football right now and is seen as the next biggest thing coming up through the ranks. So as I reported a couple of weeks back, Chelsea are trying to get ahead of the competition and get the drop on signing him. We aren’t sure at this moment whether he will move in the January window, but the likelihood is that the 6ft 2in defender will see it through at his club, and any big move will happen in the summer rather than now. Chelsea are not urgently looking to add a new defender to the ranks in the winter window, but it is one position that they are still looking to improve. Chelsea are currently laying down the foundations for a potential move to sign Jacquet.
