Madmax 9,219
"Nobody did what Pele did," the former striker told CNN. "Being champion of the world at 17-years-old, won three World Cups, scored more than 1,208 goals, only him."Then until now nobody did this, to me, Pele is the best. You can mention players that played for 10 years, for example [Franz] Beckenbauer, [Michel] Platini, [Eric] Cantona, Bobby Charlton, George Best, then come [Diego] Maradona, Zico."Those players used to play a long time. Now the players they play one year, two years, then disappear."LinkAlways game for a soundbyte eh?
eldo 868
Deluded old man. If he was playing now he would be another Denilson or Nilmar. When Messi ends playing he will be remembered as the best."Those players used to play a long time. Now the players they play one year, two years, then disappear."What an idiot. Many players are performing constantly for seasons now and this tit keeps gloating about 50s and 70s.
BlueLion. 21,491
I think that's a bit far, eldo Pele was, and remains, one of the greatest footballers of all-time, alongside Maradona and Eusebio.

Wilson 358
Pele has a point, but yet if you refer to my thread (Modern Day Football) and think if he played in football today, would he have achieved what he did? Hard one. He is still a legend bunt fuck him for boasting like that lol.
- 25 - 167
Zidane = the best player of my generation. I find it hard to make a considered judgement on anyone outside of the past 20 years but I've always seen the fact that Pele didn't cometo europe as a black mark against him personally. That goal tally is pretty impressive but he wouldn't have done that if he'd come to Europe, and btw anyone who talks about themselvesin the third person is a cunt in my eyes. Madmax 9,219
I find Maradona to be greater than Pele, considering Pele was part of a Brazil side that was loaded with superstars, while Maradona's '86 WC win and his Serie A stint with Napoli didn't have quality all throughout the team. He carried both those teams and like -25- said, playing in Europe and winning titles there is always a greater achievement than doing so with the likes of New York. That 1000+ goal tally is a bit dodgy as well, considering many of them were scored in friendlies and non-official matches, much like Romario. In fact, some observers of that time rate the likes of Garrincha and Jairzinho above Pele. zolayes 14,489
Pele seems to think History started and ended in his time . I would remind him Sir Stanley Mathews played in the top Division until he was 50as did the Welsh winger Billy Meredith. As for goal scorers ask him about Dixie Dean or Ted Drake

kwylino 329
Maybe he was At scorring but he still Aint the best for me. could he Lead a midfield and could he be there in A emergency defence situation And be off great effect in that Areas compared to past greats. i suppose i sound a idiot but well. he still aint the greatest
Ollie 4,400
He has an amazing record but never played in Europe so .... it's always difficult to judge Pele. He probably is the best goalscorer but nobody can count as the best because there's many different positions. Best striker... maybe so. Football aint just about goals. Shane 2,275
Will he ever shut his mouth already! He was very good in a great Brazillian side, and scored alot of goals due to a poor Brazillian league, He was a very very good player but seriously, Maradonna was a better player.
