bushman 2,043
Like I said, that would be a marginal improvement as the vast majority of the chances will fall to the attacking midfielders themselves, Last year´s PL winner United 4 strikers, the year before Citeh 4 strikers. As I said, Rooney could be the final touch to PL title.

As I said, Rooney could be the final touch to PL title. And whenever we've won the PL, our strikers had barely scored 30% of our goals. Chelsea have relied on various sources for goal for a very long time now and that trend is only increasing with the type of attacking midfielders we're getting. Rooney will definitely be a boost, but he will never be to us what RVP was for united last season.
The Skipper 20,609
CHOULO19 makes a valid point. Our team revolves around our attacking midfielders - and whilst having Wayne as our striker would obviously be an improvement because he can play in tight spaces and his movement is excellent - our team is more geared towards our attacking midfielders. Getting Rooney would be fantastic but it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't either.
termninja 5,290
Just seen some bothering news from the Arsenal camp, that they had a £40,000,001 offer for Suarez decisively turned down. This means they could just turn around and now make a move for Rooney. What if all of a sudden they put £35 million on the plate, and tap him up right in front of our noses?United will be much more willing to sell to Arsenal, since they're not title contenders. Arsenal have also made it clear that they can meet Rooney's wage demands.Just a scenario.Haha I can't believe that I just read that a Chelsea fan is worried that Arsenal may beat Chelsea financially over a player Besides, even if all that happened, he would ditch Arsenal and stay at United anyway...you do know that RVP escaped from there and now he's at United...Last year´s PL winner United 4 strikers, the year before Citeh 4 strikers. As I said, Rooney could be the final touch to PL title.I agree with you, but a bit differently. While our team would benefit from Rooney a lot, the reason why he would be a great signing is because he would work really well with our attacking midfielders during build up while also being a good striker when needed. He would be a bit different then RVP at Manu - he would simply improve our overall play and our attacking movement while also providing some very good squad depth. ulsterchelsea 3,221
I disagree. With or without Rooney, our attack will be centered around our attacking midfielders and the vast majority of our goals will always come from midfield. I honestly believe that any improvement in the striker department would only be a marginal one. and how much better we'd be with a prolific goal scorer In front of them. We need focal point and a target for the lads

His main job will always be to link-up and create spaces with his movement for the attacking midfielders to exploit. If Rooney is not to be valuable to Chelsea, then why Jose wants to spend over 30m for him ?I believe, Jose is right to get him & Rooney will score approx. 15 to 20 goals for Chelsea, providing he signs. Since Jose is on board, the attack just may be changed slightly. None of us know what exactly will happen, then. The other game I saw Lukaku playing well up front & it worked too. Rooney is valuable because he gives Jose tactical options that none of our current strikers can provide. He is obviously versatile and can play all over midfield and attack (except DM obviously), and he's also the perfect second striker and gives Jose the option to play with two strikers as a plan B like he has been talking about. And obviously he will be an improvement to the players we currently have. The 24m we're willing to pay for him are not just about improving us but weakening united who rely on him a lot.Lukaku was playing that high up against Malaysia simply because of the poor defending by the Malaysians. He won't ever get nearly that much space to exploit in the PL.

Hes a threat inside and outside the box. Last season a ball whipped into the box was a waste of time,a cross even more So but Roo would be all over that
CHOULO19 24,332
Didn't he get a ton of space while playing at West Brom?Exactly. At West Brom, not at Chelsea. How many teams in the PL last season tried to go all out attacking, press high and leave spaces behind the defense against us? l agree and of course our mids are our main threat but Roo offers everything. Hes a threat inside and outside the box. Last season a ball whipped into the box was a waste of time,a cross even more So but Roo would be all over thatAgree on all of the above, but I just don't think he'll be the 'star' of our attack if he comes. He can definitely make a difference like grab the only goal in a scrappy 1-0 away win for example. But I doubt we'll shape our attack around him like United did with RVP or Liverpool with Suarez.
