For those non-English posters, what is the Exams? Is it before you go to College/University or while you're in College/University? I could google it but curious for your explanation.

They are talking about their GCSE exams. My understanding (correct me if I am wrong guys) is that the grades they get determine their course of study and eventually their university placement. It isn't like the ACT or SAT that the US students take for college entrance which are very narrow in scope compared to the GCSE, in my opinion.

Not to brag, okay maybe a little, but I scored very high (in the top 15% of all test takers in the last 3 years) on my test for my teaching license (in Science). I did so well they sent me a certificate of excellence! :D

I left it open-ended... some of our younger members are getting back GCSEs, which are exams you take at 16 at the end of regular high school. Others, such as myself, Sam and LDN, are getting back A Level results. In Britain, we have exams for some of our subjects in January as well as in the summer, so the results that were published yesterday have massive bearing on where we want to go at post-18... ie. university, a career and so on.

My results were awful. CCDDE.

Very upset today. Awful feeling telling my parents. Big what'd done, is done.. Bring on Summer retakes!!

Ahh mate, gutted for you. Don't feel too despondent though, you've got plenty of time to resit. And there's nothing at all wrong with those two Cs, so cheer up! :)

I googled it a little and it sounds fun...not. So if you do really poorly does that mean you can't go to university? And it can impact what job you can get?

Actually, yes. If you're ill and miss a lot of school, you'll obviously miss a lot of classwork, and because there is so much it is very hard to catch up. I had a week off with 'flu in December and I was fortunate it didn't impact on my Geography or English exams.

Similarly, if you miss the exam because you're poorly on the day, you get 0 marks and have to resit the following Summer!

Bumping this thread because I've found out today that I have passed overall on Real Time Systems Semester B, which means I now have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Studies!!

I shall be graduating this November, and I am buzzing right now!!!:drunk:
