As we all know, beginning with next season, clubs that post more than a €45 million operating loss face exclusion from UEFA competitions.

With Chelsea's losses over the last financial year being more than £70 milllion, as well as the sanctioning of the Torres and Luiz transfers, we are at risk of facing Platini's wrath.

What would we do without the UCL? Concentrate on winning the league again?

Do you think it would hold any benefit on us not being allowed to participate in European football in the future, and similarly, what risk do you think we're out of exclusion from UEFA competitions?

Doubtless UEFA will feel the need to come down on somebody, and I wouldnt bet on Chelsea not being in the firing line.

Platini has recently been wined and dined in Dubai by Man City owners, and i exepct he'll meet with Abramovich as well.

There are plenty of ways round this 'operating profit' marker, as most companies practice 'creative accounting' of some sort and tax avoidance -eg Abramovich pays no UK tax. In reality this UEFA ruling is a warning shot to try and curb excessive spending and put the brakes on an already out of control scenario. Can you really imagine Real Madrid or Barcelona being penalised or denied access to European competition ?

What Platini et al should be really looking at are the clubs that are bought with loans -eg Man Utd, and the excessive interest payments borne by fans that go into the Glazers pockets. End of the day there will be much huffing and puffing by UEFA and all the big clubs will creatively balance their books

Yep,Platini will turn a blind eye to let's say PSG,Marseilles should they come into some money.

I'm confident the board (Gourlay & Abramovich et al) have already though ahead in regard to this. It's no coincidence they released those financial figures on the brink of capturing Luiz & Torres. We've already seen a shake-up in the backroom staff (Wilkins & Scouts) and the lay off of players last season would've helped too. Chelsea have been one of the leading clubs to speak in support of these rules so I'm sure Buck has a plan for it

I think we are fine. The rules are pretty lax over the first few seasons and tighten until 2018. By then the expensive players we have acquired over the last 5-8 years will have gone from the books. Our spending has been low for the last few years so if you include this window, it still looks respectable.

Platini seems to have something against the British teams. He'd cut into his own finger if he did take sanctions against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Barca and Real Madrid. The furore is because we 'sinned' by making two ambitious and wave-making transfers. Imagine Champions League with Rangers, Celtic, Malaga, Sevilla, Hoffenheim etc - would turn into Europa League. Either way I'm not worried and I'm confident Chelsea will sort it out. They wouldn't have bought them two if they'd harm themselves, especially when it comes to Europe. KTBFFH

He's one of the very few coaches that takes a stance to fight for the integrity of the sport and will actually contest FIFA and their corrupt system. He makes some very good points that I hope will come to light in the near future. Before you all blast the man and start insulting him, let me remind you that Arsene hasnt said anything in that interview that we havnt said or suspected ourselves. It's an interesting aspect from an experienced professional, so I do value his opinion.

Over the last few years, Arsenal and us have had nearly the same revenue but they have spent 150m repaying the loan on their new stadium and they still have a 150m to go. We don't have a stadium to pay off so we have spent our money on players. I don't see what his problem is with us.

Secondly, Arsenal would have made losses if it wasn't for their huge property development business (they build apartments). 2009: 88m revenue from sale of apartments, group profit 45m profit. 2010: 137m revenue from sale of apartments, 56m group profit. Take out the apartments and their losses would have been 2009: -43m, 2010: -81m. In other words, their losses would have been bigger than ours (though not by that much). All because we haven't gone into the property development business.
